- Compaction of powder is done in the hydraulic press at different compaction pressures with the help of prepared die and punch. To prepare the green compact mixed powder was filled in the die. The die was placed in the hydraulic press and was compacted for 30 seconds. This method produces cylindrical shaped green compact. During compaction Isopropyl was used in the die for proper lubrication to reduce the friction produced in the die.
Hello Sir ! i am doing my Mtech and I have to make a plate using Al and SiC powder of 5mm depth ... could you please tell me if i need anyother things except Al and SiC powder for the compaction process ?? Plz reply its urgent 🙏🏻
Hi, sir, it is a nice video .first for example for composite material if I want the diameter of the specimen is 20 mm and the diameter of the die is 25 mm can I machine the resulting specimen or I must use another die with 20 mm diameter? secondly how many grams of powder I used? is it depends on the size of the die or the standard of material which used in the specified test? is there specified die for a specified test or what? I hope you reply to me
Yes you can machine the sample but it requires very high skill and it also depends on the material because products made using PM technology are porous in nature.
Using mathematical calculations you can predict the quantity of the powder.
Good evening sir, i am yash from pune, maharashtra. I am doing project on powder compaction. I saw your video on youtube for compaction process.
I really wanted you to clear my following difficulties:
1) we are taking iner diameter of die as 25 mm, then what should be outer diameter of die?
2)what should be the length of ram
3) how much pressure should we apply in order to compact copper powder?
4) which binder if any, we should use for compacting copper powder?
5) how much binder we have to add?
6) how much quantity of copper powder we should take in order to get compact of dia- 25 mm and height - 5 mm.
7) how much tolerance between die and punch should we provide if iner diameter of die is 25 mm??
I really need to solve above difficulties as early as possible. I hope u would help me regarding the above mentioned questions.

Can we increase the height of the pellet using the same die
The hydraulic press was manufactured by technosearch instrument and its capacity was 15 Ton.
Yes you can increase the height of the pellet up to certain limit
Using mathematical calculations you can predict the quantity of the powder
Hi , can I get help please? I need to compact a hybrid powder with aluminium base in 12.65mm diameter mold and 1cm desired height , what is the range of pressure I need with a press that can range from 10-60 Mpa
And approximately the weight of the sample to get that height?
Dear Ahmed, The press you have is not sufficient to compact the Al powder.

i am a faculty from engineering college we are doing experiments on nano particles in powder compaction.we have designed the die but to manufacture the die the manufacturer is asking the specifications of hand press tool,plz give the specifications as it will be very useful for our experiments

sorry for the late reply sir,
I used 300, 350 and 400 MPa pressure to compress the metal powders in a hydraulic press with the help of die of 10 mm cross-sectional diameter. You should also use the hydraulic press and you will require lower pressure.

I don't know much about FGM's because it is totally different field for me , i do not know about the production of powders but once you've produced the powders then after that defenitely you can use this method for Compaction and sintering.

My dear friend UTM is never used for compaction process only press is used. I did my experiment during my M.tech from NIT Kurukshetra. I've completed my M.Tech and now I am a Faculty of IT Korba. If its urgent then you should visit to any nearest institute where these facilities are avilable.
