Dr Martin Luther King Jr did. No seriously he did. He just took that belief and applied it to the civil rights movement in a point in time after the slaves were freed. Of course in a metaphysical sense slavery was still in effect at the time he was preaching b
You know you fucked up when the most self-centred pretty boy in all of DC comix is like "You don't care enough about other people, you fucking weirdo."
I loved the whole series but this episode by far was my favourite. From his interaction with his sister(her talking to the baby broke me), to his growing friendship with Hob(who also grew as a person)… I’ve rewatched the episode more than thrice now…
Im glad Deaths conversation with the baby was kept in the show. That panel broke me when reading it. Baby: Is this all the time I get? Death:Im afraid so Baby: Its not fair Death: It never really is Just glad Death dipped out before the mums reaction.
@@toshomni9478in the comic he does talk about it a bit 🤔 like he says something "it was very bad, thank you for stopping me, I could never do enough to repair what I did" which imply that he does things to make amend
That part where hobs talking about selling slaves would have been a perfect moment for morpheus to take on his old black persona like in that one scene in hell

Dream didn't take a black persona ^^ he IS a "black" "man" when he is talking to Hob just like he is a cat, a star, a snail, a horse, a gigantic skull on fire (yeah). We (more specifically Hob here) sees him as a white man because it's how we believe he looks like. It's also why a cat will see him as a gigantic cat. We only see a facette of his being.
It’s extra fd up because he mentioned that people didn’t have to live in slavery because society was changing earlier in the episode but then goes and does that like ??? you forgot when you suffered and now you’re inflicting it no problem?? 🙃😒
The Tavern's storyline was about how human beings keep repeating the same mistakes. In the scene where we meet him, the chatter in the tavern is about taxes and how there will be a revolution coming because of it and the plague is God's judgment. A few hundred years later we hear complaining about Thatcher's taxes and how there will be a revolution as another person is saying AIDS is God's judgment. I always took Hob's dip into slavery as being another symbol of people repeating the same mistakes they thought they'd learned from. Because to Dream, Hob is a representation of humanity and its history as a while. And the evolution of his relationship with hob from Idol curiosity to actual friendship parallels the story Death had been telling about learning to love humans.
I'm a little confused, is Morpheus his actual name? If so do all of the Endless have names? Or is Morpheus more like a title or something? Like how people call Vlad "Dracula," or Lucifer "Samael."
Their actual names, as much as they have any, are just the D ones that say what concept they represent. They all have alternate names from various cultures, but Dream in particular collects a lot of names and titles: Morpheus, Oneiros (to the Ancient Greeks), Kai'ckul (to Nada), L'Zoril (to Martian Manhunter), King of Dreams, Prince of Stories, Lord Shaper, etc.
Who'd thought that the power of friendship could end slavery?
Dr Martin Luther King Jr did.

Morpheus talking Hobs out of slavery: We did it guys. We solved racism. 😂
It was very hand-wavey. I kind of expected Hob to do something more like trying to get slavery outlawed to make up for his past involvement with it.

I am kind of disappointed we didn't get to hear an 80s nose candy story
Ohhh, how crazy would it be to become addicted to a drug like cr*ck for hundreds of years.
i’m disappointed we didn’t see Morpheus’ 80s fit
I honestly wanted to see Death pop up and tell him he was on thin ice!
You can’t deny that sandman was going drag him if he didn’t stop
I imagined Morpheus changing into his black-man-form during this.
Omg that would have been so good
Only happens from the perspective of seeing the specific dream lord of that person's culture. Otherwise, he's chalk white to the atheists.
In the comic he said, "You take pride in treating your own kind in such a manner?"

Morpheus is one of the various names he has. Most every culture refers to Dream with whatever name their God of Dreams is.
