I am going to add just one thing. These are super easy. I am going to make the first star and then add green garland to the inside of the second one before wrapping the second star. Thank you for the idea.
These are just perfect! I’m tired of all my “vintage” ornaments - will do these cool stars and add some pine cones from my yard…easy and low budget but adorable! Thanks!
Thx for the video! Just a quick FYI...,Do all the string work first and then dip it in liquid starch! So much easier, dries stuffer, less messy, and dries clear!
@@EytoZeeCreative My brain is 100% analytical. I think that may be the only trick I know! It’s just SO much easier to wrap everything with dry string, and then either dunk it in liquid starch, or pour the starch over it. It doesn’t ruin any part of the craft- just hardened the string!
Did you try it? It doesn’t really work that well, it’s coated all the way around and seals 🦭 the twine when dipped and squeezed off, you’d miss parts. Ha ha I felt like it’s coating all fibers Re other way.
Love these stars! Depending on what materials are used they can be rustic or elegant. I'd really appreciate know the approximate length of each side of the stars. It's hard to tell without some sort of frame of reference (other than your hands, not know how big or petite your hands are). Thanks for the tutorial!
CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW US/TELL US HOW MANY TIMES YOU WRAPPED THE STRING AROUND YOUR HANDS AT MINUTES, 3:55, just so we know how much to cut? I counted the first time you created the star shape and you used about 1.40 meters or 140cm. Now, if I just knew how many times you wrapped string around the second time, I could pre cut all my strings before hand because I plan on making many of these stars and I want to get them made and dried. Much thanks, love rustic style tree decorations and your star and ball are ‘my cup of tea’ . ☺️☺️☺️
Boa noite, segui o passo a passo muito explicativo. Quero deixar uma dica , como fiz várias estrelas e de diversos tamanhos ,utilizei isopor como base no lugar da cortiça e no final faltou preguinhos então substitui por palito de dente. Deu super certo .
You know those slim "furry" glitter garlands/strings that used often as christmas tree decoration? I want to try this, but with the glitter instead of "normal" string.. Will update when I know how it looks.. My guess is, that it will either look good or completely cheap & awful.. I'm really clumsy, and what I dont pull down on the floor myself, some off my cats will.. soo I think a board is the realistic option here, not just some petite coaster 😂
We have not tried mixing acrylic paint with the glue. Maybe we can try it next time and make a separate post about it. But you can use different colors of yarn too. 😃
I love this idea I absolutely had to subscribe to your channel! So hello from Canada do you ever put sparkles on and if you do when would you do that at what step in the video?
Loved this. Thank you :-) Its never too late for holiday crafts! I will still make this lol. I have to tell you however, I will definitely make sure I dont take this out in the cold just to be safe. I watch someone else's craft video and had done the string like this around a balloon. I let them sit for 2 days before I popped the balloons. They were nice and sturdy. I hung them outside. When I went out like 6 hours later they were nothing but string dangling. They completely collapsed :-( so instead of remaking those, I will make these and hang them inside :-) then I will tag you the photos.
Thank you, Thank you for adding very popular questions and answers to your videos. This makes a HUGE, HUGE difference in beginning crafter who has all this questions in my head and you read my mind. Love your posts!
I just tried this and love how it turned out! My first star, I used too much water, about 1:1 with the glue. It didn’t dry firm enough. So I added less water with the rest and it was perfect. Thanks for sharing this great DIY! Mele Kalikimaka!
I love it! I did them too, unfortunately smaller and so they weren't as nice, but I'm going to make some more, bigger, hopefully before Xmas! Thanks for your tutorial!
@@starman6958 my bad, Karen. You never shorten anything? Of course I write CHRISTMAS on cards and such. But English is my second language and sometimes I spell it wrong 🙄
This is such a great tutorial! I did this today with my class, but used Mod Podge. Do you think it will still turn out alright? I get so in my head about glues lol
In Finland we have this glue called Eri-keeper, it's quite safe, so it's used by kids to do crafts. In like every school, daycare. And by proffessional builders.. It's similar to "kiddy" school glue, but "stronger" in that aspect it's more like your modge pod or glue used on wood.. It dries clear, don't smell, don't produce any fumes, easy to wash off and so on. It should be known by bigger store chains, or atleast something similar. It's more price friendly than the modge pod! (Over here it's cheaper.) I'm familiar to the constant cost-aspect of teaching, esp arts & crafts. Materials are expensive enough😊
Its amazing i love it and the best thing is that all things which were used are available at my home love it when they get ready they looks so so so beautiful and i use glitter to make them attractive ❤❤

Excellent idea...do you think this would work with thick yarn?
Yeap as long as you soak it good with the glue 😊
As I look at the first part of your star, I’m thinking about wrapping a fabric strip around it!
Yeap you can do it too

What amount of portions did you use. Glue: Water?
Hi Twin Nana!
4 parts of the glue and 1 part of water
About how much string did you use? And size start. Ty so very much.

Can you mix acrylic paint to the glue so that the string becomes coloured??

Can you make these larger and how much string did you use the first time to make the star shape?
Yeap. I start with 1 meter string and added more until I’m happy with the result😃
Really cute stars, thanks for the tutorial! Did you use spray-on glitter, or just sprinkled glitter on before part 2 dried?
I sprinkled the glitter

I’d love to thread some beads onto one side but can’t figure out how to do it because of the wet string! ☺️☺️☺️

Maybe you used the wrong type of glue.

What about spraying with polyurethane instead of soaking the string in glue?
Hi Alice! I have not tried using it yet. Maybe i will make another star and will try polyurethane next time.
Because the glue holds it together! Spray it after!
I like this. Simple and you dont have to spend much.
This is the perfect type of activity to do on a rainy autumn day .... great idea ... thanks for sharing !
Thanks too!
Love these stars and always wondered how they were made! Thanks for tutorial!

Beautiful - how much string do you use for each star? Inches? Feet?
It depends how big the start is. I started with 1 meter then just added more strings 😊
Śliczne te gwiazdy.. tylko ja nie wiem czy użyto do tego kleju czy krochmalu żeby były sztywne
I used glue and mixed with a little bit of water

Could embroidery thread be used?
I have not tried using it
I would think so, but its a bit thinner than jute twine or other twine, so maybe more of it may be required.
