Hi Cath! Yours is my favourite sewing chanel! You speak smiling, it's soooo relaxing, and I love your accent (I live in Germany) and how "planned" your videos are. Even if they are long, you use up the time nicely and it's not at all boring. I'm (still!) a beginner and you inspire me tremendously, therefore I'm very thankful! 🤗
Hi Cath I rally enjoyed this video about Friday Pattern Company. Your blog on de-puffing the sleeves for the Sagebrush top inspired me to do the same on my version. It worked really well, Thanks. 😊
Returning to this video for inspiraton a long time later. Its great to see your exanple makes and hear your review. I'm about to purchase the Ilford Jacket, I know that, but now I have some more to explore. Thank you!
Hi Cath👋. Lovely to see you again 👀. I like to see your fabric and pattern choices🤗. The pictures of you wearing the completed garments are appre iated👌. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge and skills 🙏 Regards to you all
We have similar feelings about the Wilder Gown, I don't often reach for mine but I absolutely love it on other people. Also the Adriene Blouse but for me I think the low back would annoy me. I love the Ilford Jacket, maybe one I'll try in the future :). x
That’s interesting that you don’t often reach for your Wilder gown either. I really would love to make one I get a lot of wear out of, but I’m just not sure it’s for me. Yes I think the low back of the Adrienne would bother me too! Thanks for watching 😊 xx
Thank you that’s interesting, I do like the idea of it as a coat. That’s great to know you like it so much to have made several. I do love how Friday pattern do patterns come together. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Love these videos Cath! I’m with you on the big sleeves… not sure they’re for me! Great to see all your beautiful makes and interesting to hear your thoughts on others!
Hello Cath, I love this series of videos where you highlight a particular company. I have not made any Friday Pattern Co patterns, but all your makes look beautiful. Seeing the Davenport dress you are wearing in a viscose is persuading me to have a go! I also like the look and versatility of the square neck top. Thanks for a great video, look forward to your next one. 🌻
Thank so much Phaedra. I really like the Friday Pattern Co instructions, I hope you enjoy their patterns if you do give one a go. The Davenport is really nice in a viscose I think 😊💜
I enjoyed hearing about and seeing what you've made from Friday Pattern Company! Fabric choice really does make a big difference in the success of a garment.
I keep coming back to the Adrienne blouse at least once a week. I think I probably will make it to get it out of my system..! Thanks for sharing your makes.
Hi Cath, fab vlog as always. I’ve just cut out the Avenir jumpsuit by Friday pattern company, I’m exactly the same height and measurements as you so I’ll let you know how it looks. I always take your recommendations for size and it’s always great 👍😁
Thanks so much Christine. Oh brilliant I’m so glad to know you find the sizing info useful. The Avenir jumpsuit pattern looks lovely, yes please do let me know how you get on 😊
I’m with you on so many of your options…love FPC and have made several myself….I’m not a fan of Adrienne or Wilder Gown … I gave recently bought Patina and Ilford … just making the later for hubs x
Oh I really like this series you are doing. I’m quite a fan of Friday pattern company and have made quite a few and still some to make so interesting to hear your advice on those. I think they are very hackable. Some things I did with them were happy accidents. So here goes with my list for you. Wildergown. I made the top version as the full version was not for me. I like it but I don’t love the shoulders on it. May need a little extra room. Sagebrush. I love this too but my second was not a huge success although I wanted it to be. It was a question of sizing. My first is amazing in a rayon Adrienne blouse. Is actually a good one. My first was too large in the body my second I didn’t like the fabric composition but I love the top! Adrianna dress I thought wasn’t me but it’s beautiful. The pattern came out too short so I sewed a ruffle on and I don’t usually ruffle but it’s wonderful Westcliff dress.. I adore this dress! My changes, I lengthen sleeves and put a single shorter ruffle on. Very wearable dress. Nothing like the picture on pattern Ilford I made one in the wrong fabric and I have another on the cutting table to give it another chance will let you know Vernazza… a great pattern Arlo track I like so far and I’m in the middle of it Square neck top. It looks fine and is nice but pay attention to the measurements of the top as it gapes. I made both woven and stretch and found same issues. I wear mine back to front and I’ve made one with two back pieces which is reasonably successful . Odd I know! Patina and the davenport I have bought and intend to make soon. I don’t wear blouses either but I thought it looked cute and may be able to throw over as top?
Thanks Jan that’s really useful. Thanks I’ll bear that in mind about the gaping on the square neck top. I loved reading about your hacks and experiences of the different patterns. The Westcliffe is one I’ve admired on others, it looks very comfy and pretty too. That’s a good idea about the Patina as a layering piece!
I know what you mean about admiring the pattern on others but not feeling sure about it on yourself. The Wilder dress is definitely one of those for me. I have a large cup size and I don't think all the gathering up at the top is a feature that would work for me but I do like the dress on others.
Very interesting vlog.. I loved your makes and I particularly liked your hacks..... I think the idea of being able to reduce the volume in the arms and changing the cuffs is very useful 🙂
I always love your vlogs! Also, nice to hear about the patterns that arent for you. I find that, too. Theres a pull to try all the pretty new releases but if theyre not your style or not in your comfort zone to wear, it's ok. Thank you for another interesting vlog 😁
Thank you so much. Yes you’re so right about the pull to try new releases. I think the more I sew the more confident I feel about what will suit me, although it still surprises me how I get one with some patterns.
Really interesting Cath. I can highly recommend your blog about reducing the volume in the Sagebrush sleeves. I have used it very successfully. Thank you.
Hi Cath, have you thought of lengthening the blouse you like into a dress. You seem to wear dresses quite a bit and I think you might like the blouse made into a dress.🇦🇺🦘🧵
A really interesting review, with some very nice makes. I have made the Adrienne Blouse. I am small and not greatly into ruffles and big sleeves, but I found it looked surprisingly well. I took some of the volume out of the sleeves ust to make them more proportional on me, and made it in a lovely soft drapey fabric and it's very wearable. I am planning to tacke the Patina soon. For the Wilder, I think it might suit you better if you got rid of the contrasting tie and loosened the collar a bit. In your picture it looks nice, but maybe a bit overwhelming on you? Possibly that sense is increased because the fabric is so contrasty. It's absolutely lovely fabric but I think its depth adds to the overall strong impact of the gown. I wonder how it might be as a top? You could recycle the ruffle fabric. It seems a pity not to get wear out of it.
Thank you very much. That's really interesting to know about the Adrienne blouse thank you. It has such a pretty shape to it, it looks like a really comfy pattern to wear too. Hope you enjoy sewing the Patina too. Thanks that's a good idea about loosening the collar of the Wilder, I will give it a go. I like the idea of cropping it to be a top too. Thank you! I will have a think! You're right, it does seem a shame not to get wear out of it.
You’re very talented! I was really interested to hear you mention the sagebrush top and your method for de-puffing the sleeves. I have this pattern and have always been put off because of the sleeves. I may well revisit it now and try it out again. Thank you so much. Marie x
Random question for anyone since you were talking about bias bound neckline for the sagebrush. If that’s called bias binding where it shows both on the outside and inside. What is it called when you double fold it and the bias tape ends up only on the inside and you topstitch it? I’ve been wondering 😂
Hi Gina, an e-book is a pdf book you can download and store on your computer. So you just print out what you need rather than getting a hard copy printed book 😊

Thank you very much! You’re welcome re the sagebrush tutorial 😊
😍
The Walder gown looks great on you!
Thank you very much 😊♥️ I think I need to wear it a bit more and get comfortable in it
Thanks for sharing! It was interesting to hear about Friday Pattern Co and your thoughts on the patterns ❤️
Thanks so much Cynthia 😊♥️
Hi Cath I rally enjoyed this video about Friday Pattern Company. Your blog on de-puffing the sleeves for the Sagebrush top inspired me to do the same on my version. It worked really well, Thanks. 😊
Thank you very much Yvonne, I’m so glad you enjoyed this video and that de-puffing the Sagebrush sleeves worked well for you 😊
The blouses you showed look great on you. Very becoming
Thank you very much 😊
I love this series!! I would love to see you do one for Closet Core and one for Megan Nielsen!
Thank you very much! 😊 I have plans for more of this series and they are both on my list 😊👍
Hi Cath! I enjoy your vlogs so much and I have just finished the Lyra Dress and I too like Friday Pattern Company 😊 Lovely🌹
Thank you so much Vanessa 😊💜 I haven’t tried the Lyra dress yet, I really should as I have seen so many lovely versions!
@@madebycathcraft you should, especially for summer 🌺☺️🌺
Thanks Cath. I always find your reflections useful and interesting.
Thank you so much

Very nice reviews. I think you and the Baker That Sews have convinced me, with your versions, to give the Sagebrush a go.
Thank you very much 😊 Oh yes Liz has made some really lovely Sagebrush tops! Hope you enjoy sewing it too.
Thank you Cath, I’m loving your reviews of pattern companies… it’s really useful. I have the sagebrush top and I’m looking forward to making it.
Thanks so much Deborah, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my pattern company reviews 😊 I hope you enjoy sewing your Sagebrush top!
I think you would suit it worn like a coat miss off all the pockets . The hand warmer pockets are my favourite. I have several ✂️x
Thanks so much Rachael! I’m glad it’s not just me on the big sleeves. I do love seeing them on others but they just don’t feel quite right on myself!

Thank you very much! Yes fabric choice can make such a huge difference can’t it, I’m still learning on that 😊
I keep coming back to the Adrienne blouse at least once a week. I think I probably will make it to get it out of my system..! Thanks for sharing your makes.
Thank you for watching 😊 the Adrienne blouse does look really lovely, I hope you enjoy sewing it if you do go for it
Hi Cath, Another enjoyable vlog. Thank you… I really appreciate the time and effort you put into them. Always look forward to them. Thanks again
Thank you so much Claire, that’s so nice of you to say 😊
Cath I took a lot of volume out of the sleeves of the adrienne and I love it
Oh cool thank you that’s interesting to know, definitely food for thought for me! 😊

Yes I really like the look of the Wilder gown on others too, I might revisit at some point but I’ll enjoy admiring others versions for now 😊
Thanks for the review of this pattern company Cath, I’m looking at indie patterns so this was very helpful
Oh fab I’m so glad you found it helpful 😊
Very interesting vlog.. I loved your makes and I particularly liked your hacks..... I think the idea of being able to reduce the volume in the arms and changing the cuffs is very useful 🙂
Thank you very much 😊 I do really enjoy hacking a pattern, so nice about sewing that you can alter a pattern to a garment just how you want it

I think you will make the Patina Cath, I've made 2 versions and love it, it's a great make too!
Thanks Annette, that’s great to know you love the Patina, I am so tempted! I do love how Friday Pattern Co patterns come together too
@@madebycathcraft my first time using that pattern company and I must say I was impressed.

love all the things you made. Why not try the wilder gown in a lighter colour ? Thank you for sharing
Thank you very much. Yes I really like the idea of a wilder gown in a lighter colour for summer thank you

I think that’s called a bias bound facing when you have it only on the inside but I could be wrong!
I generally really like your fabric choices but I was very underwhelmed by your first Davenport dress. Your second version was really nice..
Thank you!
Hi Cath! I’ve heard you mention you have an “e-book” for patterns from a designer, what is an “e-book”?
Hi Gina, an e-book is a pdf book you can download and store on your computer. So you just print out what you need rather than getting a hard copy printed book 😊
You seem to treat puffy sleeves like I do... Slowly reducing volume, until there is no puff left. 😅
😄that’s so true 😄
Thanks for the the tip on reducing the sleeve volume, just not for me either1X
