We are in a lot of trouble, and even though time is no longer on our side it is still not too late for us. What we desperately need right now is strong leadership as there are some very difficult and painful decisions to be made if we are to recover. Unfortunately most of the political parties are too weak and cowardly to take us down the path to recovery. It's also painfully obvious that the vast majority of politicians are incompetent and do not have our country's best interests at heart.

Big difference between Canada and the UK is huge.UK has 61 million vs Canada 34 million.Canada has 41 times the land mass of the UK full of bountiful resources whereas the UK has the north sea which is drying up.Canada will always be fine because of low population compared to land mass ratio plus more resources than most could dream of.The UK is on a downward spiral unfortunately with the sterling getting lower and lower. If I was from the Uk I'd get out and move to Australia or Canada

Unfortunately thats now the case for hundreds of thousands of people in the UK. We have an enormous surplus of highly qualified graduates, for whom suitable jobs never even existed and probably never will. We ought to have invested in the appropriate industries to ensure there would be jobs for these people, instead our government has splurged trillions of pounds over the recent years on the wildly bloated welfare state and we have nothing to show for it except enormous debt.

The GDP growth for the UK in 2011 is 0.8%..
The UK GDP projection for 2012 is 0.9%. 0.9%, OK? 2.6 million un-employed. If you un-employed now, you would be un-employed by the end of the year.
