    • @KaylaTsukinochan

As a totally blind woman, myself, that's correct. Doctors use a number scale to determine how blind a person is. 2020 is perfect vision. As I've stated, I am considered totally blind, because my vision is offf the scale but I still have light and some color perception. I also have some distance too. So one theory is he can see some. But, sound also can determine size. How Harold was moving on the pole with how in close proximity he was.

On why they were so far from home a quick explanation is that that movie was only played in a few select locations. It's actually relatively common for a movie to be played in a single location in a whole region, especially if it's a non Hollywood or arthouse production as the big production companies in Hollywood go to good lengths to throttle any competition in the cradle. Based on how disappointed the kids were when they came out of the movie theater, I would surmise that they had rather high hopes for it, so maybe they had learned of this film and that this one location was the only place in the city that played it.

Different amounts of weight effect not only the throat and the way it presses on the vocal cords, but also the accuracy of the formation of the lips and cheeks when speaking. I have been blind for 19 years, and I can tell when someone is significantly over or under weight by listening to Their voices. 9 out of 10 times I'm correct. My best guess is the Man was able to tell using a similar technique. Hope this helps! And before anyone else asks, I'm a screen reader User, and that's what I used to post this comment. I get the feeling her crazy old lady brain gets stuck on movie or TV plots. She's spent dinners as a pirate or a cowgirl; she taught Arnold to fight when she was caught up in some ninja flick or a kung-fu movie; she was a spy when she and Arnold went to free the tortoise from the aquarium; now she hears her grandson and his friends might be in danger and suddenly she's in the lead role in some sort of '70s high-action "loose-cannon cop" show (or maybe the guy from _Die Hard...)._

This part is really interesting to me.
To explain, I lost my sight when I was ten years old, which was in 1997, meaning I've been blind for 27 years.
Despite this long amount of time, I can still remember vividly the cartoons I watched back then, including Hey Arnold.
I remember this episode well, as it was always one of my favourites, the story just stuck with me.
Everything about it is just perfect. The music, the claustrophobic atmosphere, the crazy characters featured in it, and of course the story.
As for the question raised here, if we take into consideration the fact that the blind man may travel a lot via subway, he would know the layout of the cars, including the general location of the grab pole for passengers to hold on to.
Secondly, Harold himself says "I'm an upside-down fireman" indicating he was climbing on something, this and the blind man's knowledge of the subway car's layout could be enough for him to put 2 and 2 together to determine Harold is improperly using the grab pole.
As for the question about knowing Harold's weight, I grant you, this is harder, though the sound of Harold's voice may give him a clue? Though I'll admit I may be reaching on that one.
I also love the voice acting, from the claustrophobic woman working through her mantra before switching places with her suddenly panicking therapist, (voice acted by the legend Tony Jay), to the subway conductor who is brilliantly voice acted by Dan Castellaneta.
Everything about this episode is just so memorable and I can still remember it as if I watched it yesterday.
Shawn, once again love your content my guy, your dark side of Hey Arnold is amazing, and I'd love to hear your review of the episode Weezin Ed!
That episode always freaked me out, specially at the end where you see his ghost weeze-laughing on Elk Island as they row away!

It’s definitely possible to feel someone’s weight via vibrations on the ground. I would think it would be even easier on a subway that has a floor that isn’t completely solid and Harold’s whole body weight would be transferred into the pole which would be going into the ground. In my area, there is a Regal theater and an AMC; back in the 90s and early 2000s they would sometimes split which movies they would show so the audience could only see Movie-X at Regal and Movie-Y at AMC. Maybe the movie they wanted to see was at that theater, they took the bus planning on taking it back, but the movie ran long and now they're stuck. Keep in mind that these are also children and even if the theater is only 5-10 miles away from Arnold's house, that could still take hours to walk even without Harold slowing them down.

I'll be honest here, I actually sympathize with everyone in this situation, even the conductor and mental health professional. The truth is, when you're stuck in a situation you believe to be hopeless, your brain freaks out. Human instinct tells us to survive, that's how our minds are wired, but when there's something threatening that survival that seems impossible to get around, our minds can start switching from calm and collected to extremely frightened and panicked. That's most likely why these two people acted so unprofessionally. In their minds, they believed this might have been the end for them, so, as said before, their minds started going crazy and it caused them to say things they probably wouldn't have said otherwise.

The closest I've ever gotten to a situation like that was when I took the Metra from Chicago back to my home in the suburbs on the night of Lollapalooza. Somebody got hit by a freight train (iirc) on our train line. We were delayed for about an hour or so. Then there were several freight trains on the line so our train had to move very slowly. I didn't get home until about 3am.

@jonbourgoin182 I'm more than happy to answer such a polite enquiry. I read comments via a screen reader/text to speech software that comes built in to most smartphones.
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a genetic disability that makes the collagen (the thing that makes your skin stretch) faulty. It makes our ligaments and tendons too stretchy to hold our joints in place, meaning they dislocate extremely easily. It also gives us gastric, bowel, heart, and other organ issues, aswell as constant pain in any area of the body (mostly joints) that mean we can't walk far, and we are in agony when we try to exercise, and we break bones more easily too (I fell 6 inches to the ground and shattered my elbow into 5 pieces because it makes our joints overextend).
