One of the early (1930) Flips and one of the best. Ub was at his best when dealing with the spooky, supernatural, or elemental, although Flip was rather spooky aversive. This comes shortly after he had done Haunted House at Disney, another great spooly cartoon. Spookier even than this but not as clever gag wise.
Yep. I miss cartoons like Billy and Mandy, Tom and Jerry, Woody Woodpecker, Animaniacs, Pink Panther, The Flintstones and Looney Tunes when they used to be bouncy, goofy and traditionally off-model, but well made.
The musical score for this cartoon was done by Carl Stalling who also the early Mickey Mouse and "Silly Symphony" cartoons along with the rest of the "Flip the Frog" and "Willie Whopper" series as well as the "ComiColor" cartoons before he went to WB in 1936 to do the music for all of the "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" cartoons during its entire 22 year-run until he retired in 1958.
Sebastian Cortés It was usually shown at the very beginning, if it was either a roar or a silent roar where the music kicks in. I hope the Jackie logo will be appearing the upcoming Thunderbean Blu-Ray release of the complete "Flip the Frog" series.
I Think it's the Silent Roar where the music kicks in, because I believe Jackie's Roar Starts Showing Flip Shorts in 1932. I'm not sure it's because the company can not find Jackie's Roar in like Early 30's until 1932 that they find it. That's Why they replaced with the Panther or the MMMMMMMM Noise.
The House with a face is similar to the Mickey Mouse haunted house of Disney a year ealier maybe UB was invoved with both . This is 90 year old animation and it is some of my favorite. Absolute artistry
Ok I will admit I was really impressed by the stair animation when he walks up and down those stairs, I wonder how they got such a fluid motion while maintaining a stable perspective with technology back then, it looks almost 3D
Not bad, but, the ending was unsatisfactory... something Iwerks cartoons were known for, he was a great animator, the very best of his era, but, without Disney's story telling, the results were rarely first class
For the early 30's, this was considered only slightly sub-standard but it's not surprising that Ub didn't last much longer after that. By 1940, he returned to Disney.
Yep his job is to end our lives and help us cross over to the rainbow bridge up in heaven either by him helping us or us going there on our own own accord.

Oh wow I remember this, saw it when I was a kid. I should try doing animation like the old school. By the way, Did this frog inspire the Warner bros singing frog?
I appreciate the fact that when he closed the door trapping his shadow he doesn't have one for the reminder of the cartoon
I didn't expect that i was the only one that seek again through old cartoons instead of watching the new ones
Yesterday was my first time I've looked this up... it's purty!

i bet it was so that they could save time because, think of it, animation is a long and sometimes difficult process, so it was better to remove it.

Love how that cuckoo clock makes a telephone call. I guess the number of calls it can make in its life is limited.

Maybe that clock has spare numbers to replace the used ones.
