Firstly, thank you, Epiphone, for reissuing these. The lack of good quality, low budget acoustic archtops on the market has boggled me for years. Even the high end stuff seems lacking in true acoustic tone. However, there is a huge market of jazz and swing players like myself that are dying to see these things in their element as jazz guitars. The group of musicians (whom I am truthfully not familiar with outside of this video) here all seem to be more of the folk or rock blues genres and are treating the guitar as a novelty rather than really putting them through their paces. There were lots of strums and little lines, but no full on jazz tunes or 2-5-1 walks or Freddie Green stomping. Just cowboy chords and talking. I am extremely interested in purchasing one, but as they are rare on the scene (even for online purchase), I need a better representation to help me know they are true to their heritage. My first archtop was a 2004 Emperor Joe Pass. I still own it. I would love to own another Epiphone. Please help me hear what I need to hear to make a decision.
these guys know what they are doing, i played a few the other day, oh damn wow!!! no other company gives u a bang for your buck like Epiphone does. Their guitars are miles above anyones in their respective price ranges
I hate to be the old guy that puts the boot in but unplugged and unprocessed would be a bonus. I have loads of gear here that can make a runt sound like a pedigree
Phill Robinson ya I thought that was lame to do the pickup thing but I did go and play some master builts, I'm a Gibson man but not a Gibson snob and I was blown away by the unpluged sound. I like a lot of base but still want highs that can cut through, they bad it. My favorite guitar I own is a Gibson from 1975 and the master built j45 and the Dr 500 was so close in complexity and depth that I will be buying one. There are places I don't want to take my prized Gibson and need something that sounds great and the master built will be perfect. I did play one 45 that sucked and I am so glad I didn't judge them all by that one. All the others have been stellar.
I've played some Masterbilts that were very nice sounding, a lot of depth and vibe. But they seem to vary a bit more from piece to piece at their price point. But i'd imagine these new MBs are worth a good look. But I'd have to remove some of those winged out floating pickguards.
Follow up question: why no frequensator tailpeice like you current put on the Broadway and iis on the original delux? Hell, for that matter, when will you start reissuing the acoustic Broadway? Those were beasts!
with that bridge you can get a bridge from an emperor swingster epiphone and place it on the masterbuilt and voila intonation at its best, no more problems with intonation!!
This video has been up for a year. I've been looking to find one and I've had almost no luck. I'd be content to find a single one of the new arch top Century series in ANY music store. I've looked in every guitar store in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, GA. Only one store had one arch top on display, and it still had the styrofoam under the bridge! Are you really selling those new arch top guitars, or are they just vaporware?
Hold on maybe im wrong this guitar has a great high end, no its low end or it sounds consistent through-out but its top heavy , has a kick a presence, i mean its vibey old school with an easy neck yeah super vibey with low end, it has body ..live body for hard strmmin' bangin' loud and man enough to take it , with low high end flavor, thats it a unique flavor thats bold and spicy but also sweet smokey southern fried finger lickin kickin good vibey savory sound that blends perfect with certain types of all musics when you need that specific tone for a general genre of film- i mean music, but thats all really theres not much to say about it . It is a simple instrument with a complicated design. Thanks!!!
Wow its amazing how each musician has there own unique line of BS to explain the features of a guitar that do not really exist, and sound freakin' great doing it. Thats why its called the Industry they manufacture entertainment poo !
I was interested in these guitars, until this video showed me that I am not the target demographic. And what the fuck is up with people playing guitar cowboy? Is that a thing?
bla bla bla ... why don't just play the guitar ? only talking about your private feelings, wants wrong with you ? if you can't play it, leave the guitar alone

Yo any chance of hearing some swing and jazz players on these boxes? I'll do you a demo if you want haha.
Loved Jamie Lin Wilson's work in Modern Trade's Southern Gospel Revival - glad to see her here too.
absolutely gorgeous!

You're right.
I'd love to hear what the guitars sound like, not their pickups.

How cool! Great ad!
Who's the lady playing under the hat at 0:35
wow best guitar i ever see
I really hope I can convert one of these to left handed configuration, I've lusted after a good jazzbox like one of these for years.
When will these be available? I tried pre-ordering the deluxe and I couldn't. These will fly off the shelves and walls for sure!

I bet Pokey LaFarge was one of the first to line up in front of the Epiphone factory to get one of the first models. He plays Epiphones.

I have one of these and the pick up quit working after a few months.

Your realize these people are commenting on three different guitars, right?
Gorgeous. Do they come without the electronics?
Yes they do!
would be good to name each model as they're played
Ill have this beauty, AND FOR FREE HAHAHAH thanks Epiphone
How?
birthday holiday, christmas gift or some shet like that
where is Willy ????
That is the piezo sound??? WOW.
No. We're hearing the piezos plus the natural sound of the guitars, wich makes one think these piezos sound better then others. I bet they don't.
Maybe its me but I dont see no archtop. It looks flat. Sounds good though.
maybe find some people who play and understand archtops?

maple is always top heavy, not as warm as rosewood or even mahogony

Lost me at "no cut away" :(
The people in the video make me not want this guitar.
