This is what young guys and the ones starting out need to see. Knowing “shit happens” keeps them pushing to the next one. Mad respect for the honesty. Congrats on the bull.
Awesome hunt! It actually makes you want to get out and hunt for elk unlike the other channel I watched were they now hunt chipmunks and no longer hunt elk anymore.
What a great freaking story! Thx for taking us along for the ride. Love how you never sugar coat a damn thing. Also kudos to Andy. Im sure he loved helping you though!
You did what you absolutely had to do, appreciate your honesty, Levi and Andy, pretty damn cool to share stories with guys like that, Dan all your hard work is paying off, truly happy for you.
Archery hunting is just hard. Being able to find and finish the job was a blessing. People always have their opinions but you shoot it straight and tell it how it is. Nice bull!
Have to appreciate the honest video. Much respect man and nice elk! Things don't always go the way we plan, that's elk hunting right. keep the videos coming.
Good on you, Dan! What an experience being able to follow up with Andy. You certainly could have shown more of the rifle end of the hunt. I would have watched for sure.
It's called hunting. You seem more worried about the backlash, which is valid. However, if you are on social media to EDUCATE -- then that's the job, and you are way too apologetic. Nature is not always beautiful. It is ALWAYS beautiful when the HUNT ends well. GOOD JOB.
Assuming Deseret? That place is insane. Appreciate telling it like it is, not ideal but there's no shame it how it played out. BTW your Public Land Hustle series over the years have been so fun to watch.
You did the right thing. Don’t beat yourself up to bad. Stuff happens and most people would just left the bull to fate. Good job! Love all the content you post!
Thanks for being candid about your feelings on this one. Congrats on a great bull man! Would like to see autopsy pictures of where the broadhead ended up sticking at (for my own knowledge and lessons learned).
Great story love your content. Appreciate the authenticity as hard as that probably was to film and be real with. This is why I follow and support because your transparent through the highs and lows of Elk Hunting. Random Question: What arrow wraps you using?
It's a beautiful thing when a man can humble himself and admit his faults, your transparency is awesome 👌 Dan I hope to meet you one day, maybe at TAC or something.... Jesus is lord ! He's always with us !!
Great content......different from your normal content and it's awesome. Love the honesty and the Western Hunting! I live in the SE and never hunted out West. Looks like a completely different world.
Anybody who hunts long enough has misjudged distance at least once. Did the same to the biggest white tail I ever shot. The sound of my arrow thudding into the shoulder was gut wrenching. Tracked forever, even called in a dog... never recovered him, sure he lived
Just for the viewer... He was hunting Deseret Land and Livestock CWMU in Northern Utah. These hunts are designated as an "any legal weapon" hunt therefore a guy could hunt with a bow, a muzzy, a rifle, a crossbow...
Hey Man U do deserve it don’t tell ur self u don’t and rifle is a good back up to archery hunts if u don’t draw archery id love to see u on a late mile deer hunt with a rifle keep it up
Real men forget about their pride and do what is right. Only an immature person, or someone who has no clue what they are talking about would give you grief over this.
You done the right thing for real dont worry atleast you had the chance you could finish him bow hunting is more of a rodeo than people think this shit happens with deer all the time nobody mentions it though glad you got the balls to show it alot would never do it
The honesty man, that’s what makes this footage REAL and worth being viewed. Appreciate what you do, Dan! Nice bull!
Best videos because of you transparency. We’re all human

Might be the best elkshape video of all time. Honesty and integrity and respect for the animal more than the weapon. Well done .
The shit shows make the best stories afterwards, and really the memories with people is what this is all about.

It is ALWAYS beautiful when the HUNT ends well.
GOOD JOB.
One of your best videos yet. The honesty makes it priceless. Congratulations on a great bull.
Great video! I liked the full disclosure segments.
Assuming Deseret? That place is insane. Appreciate telling it like it is, not ideal but there's no shame it how it played out. BTW your Public Land Hustle series over the years have been so fun to watch.
Exactly where it was.
Dont be ashamed for that happening man it can happen to anyone great integrity for being honest and unafraid to tell the truth
Hell of a shot Dan!! 💪 Super cool Andy was there to coach you through it and let you use his rifle.
Good job sticking with it.

The end I was thinking “who’s important enough to include telling the story to on camera” the it flicked over to Levi “oh shit” 😂
Was your broadhead still buried in him? Or it fell out once arrow broke out of him?
Great story love your content. Appreciate the authenticity as hard as that probably was to film and be real with. This is why I follow and support because your transparent through the highs and lows of Elk Hunting. Random Question: What arrow wraps you using?
It's all good. No dying from an infected wound...

Congrats on getting to hunt this place you earned it
Looked like a mathews commercial gone bad.

Awesome video Dan. Always keeping it real. What sight are you using?
You stopped for fuel and a bite in Swan Valley, ID and did not even say hello!!!
I already see the hate comments "Dan staton POACHES archery elk with rifle"
Great story, thanks for keeping it real as always
Sucks to not get the shot you where looking for with bow but what a story and turn around congrats
Dan what Kifaru pack was that you were using when hunting on Deseret?
sure hope when Colton wasn't down range with a round chambered in that rifle because the bolt was closed and the mag was still in...
Just for the viewer... He was hunting Deseret Land and Livestock CWMU in Northern Utah. These hunts are designated as an "any legal weapon" hunt therefore a guy could hunt with a bow, a muzzy, a rifle, a crossbow...
Awesome 👌
Dans the man ! ABT !!!
Haven’t we all put a broadhead in the wrong spot? 🤷♂️ I sure have.

did you dig the broadhead out?

Is that a 3 or 4 pin mbg sight you have on there?
What ranch this place seems awesome

Great video, but it is not harder to kill on an elk farm even its big country. Because you know where to go from the guides being there everyday lol
Private land? Or public?
Sound was super quiet
Must be nice 🤪
Takes some serious gonads and humility to post this film. 🫡 nice bull
