The best part about Outcast was that apparently Nic's character lost an eye, but instead of an eyepatch he just has one eye closed the whole time in a permanent wink. Also, he has two snakes wrapped around his fists like boxing gloves. Nobody in the movie comments on it. It might just be Nic Cage's pet snakes that he brought on set and nobody dared to tell him to leave them in the trailer.

I think Elvis didn’t notice this, but in Outcast that Chinese actress who played Prince Zhao’s sister, is the same actress that played Mulan in the 2020 live action version of Mulan, who openly supported police brutality in Hong Kong during the 2019-2020 protests.
She first rose to her fame from some stupid Chinese historical soap operas back in 2000s, and she actually got famous in the first place because of her “expressionless acting”, and her Chinese fans thought her bland “performance” made her look “angelic”. Outcast was shot around 2012 and I think this was her first attempt to make herself more international. And gladly and hopefully Mulan’s big flop has made a halt to her “international career.”

@20:48 - I get that people hate it that actors/actresses aren't in "proper uniform", but please, for the love of filmography, remember that impersonating military or police is illegal. Even if it's "not real", all it takes is one idiot bystander calling the police to halt production, so it's not that unlikely that studios would make them close but inaccurate for a reason.

Nic cage is one of those actors who you don't know is perceived as bad because of his acting or because of the script. But having seen Nic in many, many great movies it solidifies that he actually knows how to act.
It's just that he accepts small indie movie roles where the script is incredibly subpar. Yet some times these indie movies work out, especially in Mandy.
