    Transcript:
In this video I'm going to show you how to use the Japanese nunchaku or the nunchuks, but specifically in the way that Bruce Lee used them in his movies. I was a huge fun, I was so impressed as a young man with Bruce Lee. I wanted to be everything that Bruce Lee was, that confidence, that skill, that aptitude, the ability to speak up for himself, speak up for others, all of those things made me love the martial arts as a young man and kept my fire going.
I started when I was a kid and I just never stopped, and nunchuks were my favorite weapons that Bruce used in his movies, because he used them so well to defeat so many people all at once, but he had a couple of signature moves. I'm gonna show you how to do those, but first we're gonna get warmed up because I want you to know how to use them like Bruce Lee used them.
I'm gonna be using my pair of my lighted nunchuks, just because I like the weight and they're nice and chunky. It reminds me of those old Bruce Lee nunchuks from the movies. Start with your hand palm up, spinning forward, turn your hand down, spin it forward, palm up, palm down, and then go into your figure eight.
Put it into the other hand. It doesn't matter how you grab it now. Start here and spin it forward. Palm down, spin it down. This figure eight in front of the body, is definitely a Bruce Lee move. Put it back in that first hand. Now you're gonna spin it back. A lot of times in those movies people are fighting Bruce, and he's smacking their hand here, and hitting them here, and he's hitting them there, and it all come off these basic motions. So do this warm up with me.
Palm up, palm down, up and down. Put that in the other hand. Same thing, palm up to start. This palm up, palm down is gonna help you get there so much faster. Palm down, pulling it into yourself. Palm up and down. Now bring it over your shoulder. This is a good staring point. This means you're ready. Go into that strike across the body.
Striking there. Do that a couple of times. Put it back into the other hand again. Again, don't worry about the transfer yet. Bring it into the shoulder. Striking through. Hitting that tempo. Put it back in that other hand. Now, you're gonna bring it to the back here, swing it a couple of times. This menacing swing, this says, hey I'm ready. Don't come any closer or I'm gonna have to hit you with it. And then you're gonna pop it into your arm.
Now this is the move. This is the Bruce Lee move. Here you're creating tension by pinching it with that arm and then, bam, pop it out and you hit him. Swing it a couple of times, pop it under there, create that tension, pull, bam, and you hit him. Swing it, catch it. That's your practice. Swing it, catch it. Swing it, catch it.
Go back to your figure eight, swing it, catch it. Figure eight, swing it, catch it. Pop him, figure eight, swing it, catch it. You know what to do. Bring it back to the other hand and do the same thing. All right, I'll have one more practice for you. This is to improve your fluidity, your speed, your strength, your flexibility, your control of the nunchuk.
Start with a spin. You're gonna go down and then spin it down, and then you're going to pull up. Think about hitting him on the bottom of the chin. Spin, spin down. Spin, Spin up. Now that's the basic idea. You're gonna do, spin, spin down, spin, spin up. Do a few on this hand, let's put it on the other one, a few on this hand, up.
And now I want you to make it a challenge. Spin once and down, spin once and up. Now spin twice, and spin twice, and three times. And three and four, and four. And I might be adding an extra spin, but you get the basic idea. You're gonna go one, two, three you go to 10 and then, go in reverse 10 back to one kind of like a pyramid.
Do your best. Put in the comment section below, your favorite Bruce Lee movie, favorite of all time. If you've never seen Bruce Lee and you don't even know who he is say, I don't know who he is, I've never seen one. You're gonna go out and find one. Watch it on RUclips. Also, if you haven't subscribed yet, please subscribe and live me comments. Give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down, it doesn't matter. I just like to get the feed back so I can make this channel better.

Great material and I like your enthusiastic teaching style! I have been practicing my skills during dog walks. I walk two big dogs with one held on a leash in my hand and the other dog attached to my waist leash. Slowly working the movements with my right hand and I'll eventually work the left side. Thanks for the exercise tips!

Sir, i just love chain nunchuks the noise while swinging is woww so satisfying ,manly, confident as it boosts the swinging intrest, and great workout too...but ropes are so silent, may be practical in its own way. But chain wooden nunchuks is just any day.
