I have always wanted to try The Ordinary products but the routine is too complicated...UNTIL.....I saw your channel! I managed to build my daily routine by watching your videos and it has been a month since i started the products. My skin feels amazing! thank you so much for sharing and making our lives un-complicated. Cheers!
Your series _how to use_ is so, so helpful, especially because it takes away my uncertainty about what to use when and how. Thanks from bottom of my heart. ✨
Generally, they should protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. I'm not sure about improvements, but technically, this could result in less skin aging.
Thank you for the many tips and advices! 🙏 I just “discovered” The Ordinary’s resveratrol and furulic acid about a month ago and I use it all over my body and it does wonders! I’ve also started a treatment of sorts, where I use the resveratrol and furulic acid serum first, massage my face, and then I put a face mask with vitamin C and then just relax ✨😌✨ I give you my word, it’s amazing!! Today is a resveratrol and furulic day so I have two other serums and the resveratrol and furulic acid serum on top and then I have The Inkey List vitamin B C and E moisturiser on top. I also add some ceramides, with Biotherm’s Cera Repair cream (CeraVe’s original Moisturising Cream is just as good, sometimes I use that one). That’s some beauty hacks from me 🙂 ✨ Take care everyone, and love your skin!💫
This was extremely helpful and informative. You covered all the products I use and I feel more confident using my recent purchase of resveratrol with ferulic acid. Thank you 🙏🏻
Congratulations on your flawless videos and contagiousness! I would like to ask you if I can combine the serum ascorbic acid 8% + alpha arbutin 2% with the serum resveratrol 3% + ferulic acid 3%? if so how many drops of each? also this mixture should be applied immediately after toner and follow other serums and moisturizer?what is the right order to follow? thank you!🙏🏻🌹
Okay, got it; yes, you can use it. Just do not add too much. Use 1-2 drops of each :) And yes, the mixture can be applied immediately after the toner. I am not sure if you have to add other serums and moisturizers it may get a little sticky or oily ;) Try and see what works best for your skin.
I laughed at "just enjoy this moment" about it being warm. I understand it's safe. I just thought it was funny because there are people thinking it's not and they might be freaking out. Just enjoy this moment. 🙃💙
I freaked out at the warm feeling and added water trying to wash it off, and I used 4 drops 😢my face was hot and red until I iced it for an hour 😅I'm so horrible at this skin care stuff!
Great video thank you! I'm a little confused on how I've been using my products as some have said that the glycolic acid makes Vit C less potent? Now I'm wondering if I've been using them incorrectly which is why I haven't see results. Here's what I'm struggling with the routine... how to alternate days and combine products. Aha/bha peeling solution (dark red solution) Glycolic acid Salicylic acid Witch hazel Ferulic acid and reservatrol Hyaluronic acid Copper peptide serum Azelaic acid suspension 10% Lactic acid 10%+ HA End of my routine always ends with Vit C serum and facial oil. Thank you!! 💜
No, AHA and/or BHA can actually be very beneficial when using it with Vitamin C. The only thing you have to be careful of is how often you can use them together so that your skin won't feel irritated that's all! As not everyone has the tolerance to use them together - if you can use them together without any problems that's fine! Buffet Copper Peptides has conflicts with strong antioxidants, pure form of Vitamin C and the Ordinary " Direct Acids" which is basically Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Peeling Solution, and Mandelic Acid... So, with your routine, I recommend using Buffet Copper Peptides alone or combine it with Hyaluronic Acid but that's it😅... Your AM Routine could be this: - Cleanse - Witch Hazel (I guess it's a toner?) - Hyaluronic Acid - Buffet Copper Peptides - (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser) - SPF Or - Cleanse - Witch Hazel (I guess it's a toner?) - Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid or Salicylic Acid (maybe) - Hyaluronic Acid - Vitamin C mixed with Ferulic acid and Reservatrol - (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser) - SPF for your PM Routine: - Cleanse - Toner - Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid or Salicylic Acid - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser) Or (1-2 Times per Week): - Cleanse - Peeling Solution - Toner - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser) Or This could be an AM or PM: - Cleanse - Toner - Hyaluronic Acid - Azelaic Acid - (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser) - (SPF) Keep in mind that using the right skincare products for your concerns should be used between 8-12 weeks to see some improvements and sometimes even longer! The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Please note that with any active ingredient that affects skin behaviour, there can be an initial purging period during which breakouts are normal. Gradually incorporating one new product into your regimen at a time and applying test patches first to see what works best for your skin. How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar. It is not be confused with other acids like salicylic or glycolic acids, which exfoliate away dead skin cells. It’s fine to use both types of exfoliants (AHA and BHA) as part of your skin care routine - you can use them at the same time, alternate days of usage, or use one in the morning and one at night, depending on your preference.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet wow thank you so much! Yes thayers rose water witch hazel is the only toner Ive used and it really helped my skin. Now that my skin is cleared I'm working on texture irregularities and pitted scars. Using a derma roller every few weeks. If you have another recommendation for a toner I will research it! I'm really wanting smooth plump skin and help with collagen production so I hope I'm using these products correctly. Thank you again!!!
@@JordanBeaulac I haven't tried that toner so I can't comment on it haha😅 If you like it, stick to it! I'm currently using the Paula's Choice ENRICHED CALMING TONER and like it a lot! Have you had a look at retinoids/retinols? - for your acne scars? Treating acne scars isn't that easy since not everyone has the same kind of scars which need to be treated differently!
Melissa Van Dijk I have not as I didn’t know what to start with. Hoping when Devine responds to my regimen inquiry that will help. Or if you have any ill check them out!
You can add one of the Ordinary's Retinols/Retinoids (start with the lowest strength) to your routine which are serums or for example the La Roche Posay [REDERMIC] ANTI-WRINKLE RETINOL cream, which I like a lot too!😊
I just found this video and hope you answer! is it beneficial at all to mix this product in multiple ways or no added benefit, for example: cleanse, mix Resveratrol with Vit C powder, niacinimide, mix again with Azelaic acid suspension and then spf
Well, we don't know for sure; it might. However, there haven't been any tests, so you could try it yourself and see if it works. You could also look online for anecdotal evidence, but that's often biased, so conducting your own tests might be more reliable.
Hello Melissa! I 'd like to ask you...i want to buy this product The Ordinary Resveratrol 3%+Ferulic Acid 3%, can i replace my Vitamin C serum with this product? I mean do you think is stronger, more effective than Vitamin C or not? I use The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5% and my skin is Glowing! I know that you can mix them for Better results! I love Vitamin C but i've read so Great reviews for this product. Thank you in advance🙏🌷
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you Very Much! I will use Pycnogenol at night after The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion. Have a Wonderful day☘🌻
First of all .. wonderful detailed video, thank you for that. Second, i opened my bottle long ago but didn't use it much because i used other products at the time. Now that i wanted to use it again, i noticed it's gotten very slightly yellowy, i didn't pay attention to it at first and still used for around a month, and didn't notice any bad effects, i quite like it honestly, but now i kinda worry it's expired and i should just replace it with a new one ( it's sadly out of stock now ). What do you think ? Is it normal for it to change colors ?
Hey :) I'm happy that you like the video! :) If it turns from clear to yellow, it may have oxidised and lost its effectiveness. I recommend contacting the Ordinary and talk about this issue to make sure if you still can use it or if it best to get a new one :)
Hey melissa ❤️This was extremely helpful and informative. Layering my skin with this product if this ok please tell me L ascorbic powder + resveratrol and then Marine hyaluronics Cereve moisturizer Oh and also restoring my lrp vitamin c serum in refrigerator It's just oxidize quickly so should i also restore ascorbic powder and resveratrol please tell me. Thanks❤️
Hey :) The order changes because Resveratrol is an Anhydrous Solution. So you would use Marine Hyaluronics before. Or even mix Marine Hyaluronics with L-Ascorbic Acid Powder and Resveratrol (that would be the best option in my opinion) And there is no need to store the mixture in the fridge since you are mixing it fresh. And Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid should not be put into the refrigerator.
Hi Melissa, Thank you for always helping us out with our issues! You have helped me already with my am and pm regimen and it works really well now! I‘ve been on that regimen for months now but i wanted to incorporate the Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% & ascorbic acid 8% + alpha arbutin 2%. I tried your tipps by not going overboard and only used 3 serums in my am routine (i switch from routines so i don‘t mix too many products at once and some have conflicts) I used; Egcg only around my eyes Hyaluronic acid Resveratrol+ferulic acid Ascorbic acid+Alpha arbutin Moisturizer Spf In one of your videos you mentioned to mix the resveratrol with an oil or ascorbic acid. So i used 2 drops of each in my palm and spread it on my face. But immeadiately it felt kind of strange, like there were sand particles on my face, some kind of peeling. Did i use it wrong, or is it maybe from the HAcid. I‘m confused.. Should i use them one after the other or seperate? Also could i use the Pycnogenol after both serums? Resveratrol and Pycnogenol are both antioxidants and i read that Pycnogenol helps the Ascorbic Acid when it has oxidised. Sorry if i‘m confusing to you but i hope you‘ll understand me :) Thank you so much! 💗
Hello Alma, Does it also happen if you leave out Hyaluronic Acid or if you space them further apart? And how do you apply Hyaluronic Acid? Sometimes people apply it when the skin has still water drops on it, and then it drys, and it tends to pill because the formulation cannot work correctly anymore. Or if you have used too much of your Hyaluronic Acid, since the larger molecules stay on top, and if you apply the following product, it just rubs off. See here: The Ordinary Product "Pilling" Hyaluronic Acid And Niacinamide - What You Need To Know! (Snakeskin): ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html So it can happen with any product you layer afterwards but from my experience it is more so common with water-based serums or anhydrous solutions/oils. And generally, it is not recommended to use multiple antioxidant serums in the same routine. But you can combine them with Ascorbic Acid if you like; they technically can extend the lifetime of the Ascorbic Acid within the skin. Still, with Pycnogenol, there is not much research; in fact, there is only a small study that I am aware of. But I have never looked back into it since not many people on my channel seem to use them 😕
@Melissa Van Dijk thank you so much for your fast repply! I have only used the Resveratrol and ascorbic + alpha arbutin combined with the hyaluronic acid. Should i leave the hyaluronic acid out an try it like that? I do use the hyaluronic acid on top of wet skin (but have never accperianced peeling before) I took the advice of some Derms to apply it on wet skin 🤷🏻♀️ Should i try it on dry skin an then the 2 serums? Am i doing it right, by combining Resveratrol ferulic acid and ascorbic acid alpha arbutin, 2 drops of each? Or if i leave the Hyaluronic acid out, what waterbased serum could i use instead? Inuave almost every serum from the ordinary🙈 I really like the Pycnogenol, it gives such a nice glow to the face. But i won’t combine it in this routine then. Thank so much for your hard work and informative reactions 💗🌸
@@Alma-nt6wi Yes, try to leave out the Hyaluronic Acid, or try not to use it on "wet" skin. From the little research available online, Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) cannot draw more water from the skin or environment, so because the formulation is already in the water, it has attracted as much water as it can. If you now have water on the surface, you just mix it with the formulation, and if used too much, it dries and feels very uncomfortable or tight on the skin (some people now may think that this is because it absorbs the water, but in fact, it is just the formulation that stays on top and rubs off). You may never experience it because you haven't used a formulation that shows it, but it was there before; now that you use a serum/oil, it just shows off. You probably did not wait long enough in between to see it so that the next serum just "smeared" it around. Damp skin refers to when your skin has absorbed some water but dried off on the surface. It doesn't look much different on the surface than dry skin. So if you washed your face and removed the water drops from the skin surface, it is damp and remains damp for some time. (15-30 minutes, according to some retinoid leaflets) Applying products onto damp skin makes them absorb better into the skin. But it does not change the efficacy of Hyaluronic Acid; it has the same effect when applied to dry skin, but it does not cause any issues. And I think that when you remove the water drops from the skin surface and apply your 2-4 drops of Hyaluronic Acid and wait a few seconds in between and then layer Ascorbic Acid and Ferulic Acid on top, it will solve the problem. The confusion about Hyaluronic Acid always refers to one book or a few studies discussing Hyaluronic Acid in its pure form but never the overall formulation. So it would be only interesting for a chemist to formulate the product but not for someone using the "finished" serum. Otherwise, they would have clear instructions on how you use it, similar to Tretinoin or other medical treatments. And likely that is where the mistake is, but since there are no studies available that look deeper into it, we can only experiment, try and/or guess 😕
@Melissa Van Dijk o wauw thank you so much for all the information! You are the first person who really explained it in a way that everyone can understand and relate to! Thank you for that! I will do it from now on in this way. And if it doesn’t work i will leave out the hyaluronic acid with this two serums. But the two serums (resveratrol and ascorbic) mixing together are alright like that? Or beter on top of each other? 🌹
Hi Melissa, this video is so informative! I was wondering if you recommend applying 2 drops of rsveratol + ferulic acid before oils and then adding two drops of it to Ascorbyl + vitamin f as well? Thank you!❤️
This can become quite oily skin The Ordinary Antioxidants, Oils and the Vitamin C Derivative serum that you have, have all an oily texture which may not feel that great when layering them all in one routine. You may want to split them and use one or two of them in on routine (AM) and the other one in the PM routine.
I’ve used The Ordinary’s Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid with face oils. If you don’t mind that your face will be a little oily until your next routine, why not? I’d say go for it! If you’ve already washed your face with a cleanser with some salicylic acid - I sometimes put a serum or toner with salicylic acid/salix alba white willow bark extract first. But if you’re layering with a high percentage of vitamin C, especially L-ascorbic acid, you might want to skip salicylic acid if your skin is sensitive. But otherwise, as long as you don’t mind the feeling of oils, why not? I’ve used this product with Rosehip seed oil and Grape seed oil and nighttime face oils with both rosehip and grape seed oil as well as linoleic acid - which is amazing for the skin as it’s moisturising as well as works against blackheads and pimples.
Dear, I have a question Which is better: Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, pycnogenol and EUK134 with vitamin C? What is the difference between them when I combine them with Vitamin C or do they have the same effect? I'm about to buy one and I'm very confused about them🙏❤
Well, they are entirely different ingredients. The one that is better really depends on your personal skin tolerance and the concerns you have, so I can't tell you which to choose. In theory, they can also be combined. However, I think it's best to use them individually so that each can absorb effectively into the skin or just choosing the one that fits your skin concerns the most.
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I wash my face at night, and I use Cerave cleanser that contains salicylic acid exfoliant, and I apply vitamin C Does vitamin C conflict with cleanser ? Finally thank you ❤️
Hey Melissa, thanks for this informative video! I have sensitive skin and i wanted to incorporate an antioxidant serum in my routine, should I go for this one? Since this has high ferulic acid, can it irritate my skin ?
Hey! :) Have a look at EUK (- do not use with Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)) or Pycnogenol instead. Also, if you already use a hydrating toner, serum, or moisturizer, you could always dilute it :)
Hi! Thank you for your videos. I’ve just found you channel and it’s so helpful!!! I found your video after already refrigerating R3+FA3. Have I destabilized the solution? Should I throw it away? 😩
I do not know what happens when putting it into the fridge. Still, I guess you are destabilizing it /making it less effective since the Ordinary explicitly tells not to refrigerate it. 😕 I recommend contacting them here: deciem.com/en-us/contact-us.html
@Melissa Van Dijk. -Grrrl! You are incredible and maybe you should develop your own skin care line of products because definitely know how to effectively use and display the pros and cons of certain products!!! Win win for everyone!!! So glad you are here!😍🥰🤑🤗😊😇 Can I use this product with the Cerave Retinol Resurfacing Serum???
Hello again, 🙂 I was already thinking of doing it, but it is tough to stay neutral. For the moment, I do not really care about those companies, and I only look at what is working well for me, or what I like and what can grow my channel. And I am trying to help as many people as I can with the experience I gathered over the years. But when having my own brand, there is always a chance that I am not honest with myself anymore and tell people that my products are the best. So I really struggle with this. Not sure what the future will bring, but for now, that's my point of view. And thank you very much for the suggestion and feedback. ❤️ Yes, that's possible. However, since this is a potent Antioxidant, it may be best to use it in the evening's morning and retinol. Sometimes it is just too much for the skin. So try it, see how your skin responds, and if you like it, go for it. They do not conflict!
Hi Melissa!!! I love your videos, so informative... You have done great job, please keep on!!..i would like to ask if it's normal when i apply resveratrol 3 + ferulic acid 3% my face gets irritated and turns red..I haven't heard again before irritatation by resveratrol..thank you😀

So, you can keep using it the way you are. I wouldn't layer your Vitamin C and Resveratrol. This can feel weird on the skin because both feel a bit oily. I would add a drop of Resveratrol to the Vitamin C, mix it in the palm of my hand and then apply it. The Ordinary recommends using the Suspension after moisturizer. However, see what layers best for you depending on the moisturizer you are using.

If i just use vitamin c searum will it be less effective ? Is it really nessory to use feurlic acid with vitamin c ? Please reply 😊
I'm not sure about mixing them, that's something you have to try because sometimes you'll come across a situation where you'll notice that they do not mix well...if that's the case use them separately and layer them instead of mixing. But yes, you can use Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% and your Vitamin C serum in the same routine. If you layer them, use your Vitamin C serum first and layer Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% serum on top :) You don't have to use Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% when using your Vitamin C serum. However, using Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine when using your Vitamin C can stabilise Vitamin C.
No, this is not for breakouts. This feels a bit oily on the skin. You can use it on its own or mix it with a moisturizer. This serum helps to keep the skin healthy.

Hi Melissa, can I pair Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% from Ordinary with the following products in this order: 1. Fist AHA/BHA exfoliator 2.Then matrixyl synth 6 + hyaluronic serum 3. Then Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% from Ordinary 4. Then moisturizing cream with ceramides and niacinamide (from Cerave) Thanks a lot!
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids = Glycolic, Lactic, and Mandelic Acid So, your AHA/BHA exfoliator already contains some of these acids. Therefore, only go with one. Apart from that, yes, it can work if it suits your needs. Just keep the frequency of Glycolic Acid and/or the other AHA/BHA exfoliator in mind that you have. Start by using it 2-3 times per week and then gradually increase the frequency to daily if needed and tolerated.
Hi Melissa, thanks a lot for your reply. I realized, that there was a typo in my initial message: step 2 should be Then matrixyl synth 6 + hyaluronic serum instead if glycolic acid. I have corrected it now accordingly. Could you please have a look at the updated steps again? Can I use all these products in this order? Many thanks!
@@TSlowdive Okay. However, it is recommended not to use AHA and/or BHA products before applying Matrixyl peptide serums, as it may break them down and make them less effective.

Hello ΤΖΕΝΗ ΚΑΣΑΠΙΔΟΥ, hope you are doing well. 😃 You can mix it with the moisturizer/anti aging cream. It does not have any conflicts with other products except for copper peptides. Hello Jolene, Technically yes. But it may be too potent for your skin, and I haven't had much luck layering these strong antioxidant serums with retinol. But you can layer in any order!
I've used this serum alone in the evening after a thorough cleanse, and it caused like an allergic reaction. I've done the patch test, everything was fine. Applied it again in the evening, same thing happened. The face wasn't smooth anymore the next day. It didn't burn or sting, but my face was a little bit different to touch. I didn't mix the serum with any other products. I just applied it and went to bed. Could you help me, please? Thank you 😊
@@florinaungureanu Well, it can be a potent antioxidant serum for some individuals. However, you may want to give your skin a break from that serum and then try it again after a week or two. You may also want to consider diluting it with your moisturizer (if you use one).
@@florinaungureanu Use a pea to a bean-sized amount of moisturizer, add 2-3 drops of the serum, mix it in the palm of your hand, and then apply it to your skin.
It doesn't layer well, so I wouldn't recommend that particular combination. Instead, I suggest using the Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% solution first. After applying it to the skin, follow up with 3-4 drops of resveratrol. This sequence has worked best for me in terms of layering!
Hi Melissa ❤️ you say to use this serum after water based products but the moisturiser is water based…so applying the moisturiser after won’t destabilise the serum?
What moisturizer do you use? I said to apply it after water-based serums. Specifically, referring to The Ordinary products as they have different formulations. Still, use your moisturizer after The Ordinary Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid, since it contains not only water but other and 'heavier ingredients as well.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you for the response ❤️ I usually use a hyaluronic acid serum and then I use the CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion all over my face and the Youth Dose Eye Treatment from Kiehl’s under my eyes. Thanks again for such an informative and in depth video. I want to get the “holy trilogy” of vitamin C, E and Ferulic but not sure which The Ordinary products contain vitamin E. can you please recommend? Also, can I mix ferulic acid serum with vitamin c derivatives?
If I remember correctly, none of them does. So for that, you need to look at some other brands. The most inexpensive one would be G&G C-Glow works just as good as the others but may be difficult to get depending on the country you live in.
Hello again :) Hyaluronic Acid, since it is a water-based serum. Resveratrol is an Anhydrous Solution which is heavier. The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Hi Melissa, I recently came across your videos and am loving them all! I recently started using TO R+Fe mixed with TO 100% squalene oil since TO says R+Fe should be diluted and not used directly. The mixture feels oily when I apple, so I was wondering if I am doing this right? Thanks so much!
Hello Tanya, Yes, you can do that to reduce the strength if it is too potent for you. Sadly yes, since it is an anhydrous solution, you mix it with an additional oil. Therefore, my advice would be to mix it with a suitable moisturizer for your skin type that works/feels much better.
Hi girl can i use resveratrol with vit C 23% ,am sorry i bother you so much ,but you are the one i trust.By the way my resveratrol looks a little yellowish, its that ok?
Hello again :) Generally yes. What works best for me is mixing a couple of drops with it and applying that to the skin. It has a transparent colour, it sounds like it has oxidized, but I am not sure if that actually can happen 🤔 How old is it?
Hi Melisa ,i have a question ,i was reading about the ingredients of the mineral sunscreen and it says water as one of the ingredient,it doesnt matter and its gonna be ok with the serums i use from the ordinary, i use Hylaronic acid, ascorbyl, resveratrol, some times i also use Meaninful beauty day cream with 30spf ,i wonder if doesnt damage the serums,i am worry about this.
Hello again :) No, it does not damage the serums. And the sunscreen is always the last step in your skincare routine since it builds a protective layer on top of it. Cleanser Toner/Exfoliant Water-Based Serums/Gels (Primarily, The Ordinary has these products, and technically the toners are also water-based...) Anhydrous Solution and Oils (Resveratrol goes into this category) Lotions/Creams = generally, your moisturizers without SPF SPF (Daytime) If you are concerned about layering, you can wait a couple of minutes after you use resveratrol so that it feels more comfortable on the skin.
I have an urgent question please help me. 😭 My orders are arriving tomorrow and i've been using hyaluronic before anything else. Is it safe to layer resveratrol with hyaluronic and if so how long should I wait before applying it? Thank you so much in advance!
Yes, that's fine! Hyaluronic Acid is a hydrating ingredient! :) Use Hyaluronic Acid at first and then layer Resveratrol + Ferulic Acid after it. Wait 30 seconds to a minute until Hyaluronic Acid has absorbed into the skin and then move on to your Antioxidant serum! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Omygod thank you so much! You saved me from an impending skincare routine dilemma. 😂 Also I love all your videos! I sometimes look at all my ordinary products and dont know how to start but now I just do a quick search and watch your videos on what can i use with what... so thank you a bunch! ♥️
Hi Melissa....great video..I always reach out to your videos with respect to ordinary products.. I want to use ordinary l ascorbic powder ( 1/4th of their scoop) and mix it with reservatrol but i don't want to use this serum more than 2 drops as it might be quite too much for my skin and i am not thinking to include oils in my Am routine. Can i use a other water based serums like hada labo to the mix(L ascorbic powder and reservatrol) which have ph around 5.5. I am so confused with this combo..can u please help me out😊...Take care🥰
You can try it with less (and/or use less powder) but it may not mix well, see how many drops you need so that it works best for you! Which serum do you want to use from Hada Labo? As it may not mix well if it includes Hyaluronic Acid (at least not with the one from the Ordinary) so you have to try it and see how it works! As long as your serum doesn't include Peptides, EUK or Niacinamide, you're fine😊
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank u Melissa...i am thinking about HA serum but now that u said it may not go well with it i will use it with Cosrx snail muccin or Isntree green tea toner...which one would u suggest😊
Hi Melisa, can i use Hylaronic acid first ,ascorbyl glucoside and at last resveratrol?if is not the correct order ,can you tell me how can i do it?zThanks a lot
Hello 😀 Yes, that is the correct order. You can also use Ascorbyl Glucoside first and layer Hyaluronic Acid on top. See what works best for you. But resveratrol should be the last step in your routine.
Can you use it under your eyes? Came to this video to find out as I am trying to find out what I have an allergic reaction to. I have been using this for a month no problem but 2 days ago put it under my eyes and today developed itchy lumps under my eyes an am wondering if it was this that did it. Thanks :)
Generally, yes, it does not mention anything about it. However, I always recommend caution when applying products near or around your eyes since they are very delicate. Maybe just not use it there for a while and only use it occasionally.
Generally yes. Use Alpha Arbutin first and layer Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid on top, and lastly, your Retinol. If you have the 1% of Retinol, it may be best not to use it with Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid. Since every time I am doing this, it stings on my skin. But it is not wrong, and they do not conflict. I suggest watching the following guide: The Ordinary Layering: ruclips.net/video/gMrV5WD8KkA/видео.html
Hi Melissa :)! A new subscriber here. I have a few questions. I don’t have bad acne or any really but I notice a bit of textured skin. I’m not sure if I should start using the Resveratol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% (I’m not sure if it’s a toner or serum ?) and I’m thinking of ordering a serum from the ordinary to help with my textured skin (I also have sensitive skin by the way) and if so can I layer the Resveratol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% with a ordinary serum?
Hello Ashley. Hmm, for textured skin, I recommend using an exfoliating acid. I suggest Lactic or Mandelic Acid. You still can use other serums along with it if you like. If you only want to use The Ordinary products, you can use their regimen builder: The Ordinary Regimen Builder Explained: ruclips.net/video/cTZF75Ej9_4/видео.html
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much! I took the test and need to use the Squalene cleanser, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, and Natural Moisturizer Factors! I also forgot to mentioned that I use the ordinary AHA 30% + BH 2% peeling solution :)
@@ashleyfuentes2854 Great! What's your skin type? Have you already tried the Ordinary Peeling Solution? How does it feel on the skin? If the Peeling Solution alone is already giving you satisfying results regarding skin texture, stick to it. Otherwise add Mandelic Acid or Lactic Acid to your routine. Mandelic Acid is a very gentle exfoliant! Which you can use more often during the week.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I believe my skin type is normal? I don’t get dry skin or really oily skin. During the winter I make sure to really moisturize my skin so that it doesn’t get dry and use sunscreen daily especially in the summer. I have been using the peeling solution for over almost a year now and it’s been 8 months since I started a basic skin routine for morning and night. Overtime my skin has gotten a lot better since the peeling solution and being consistent with my skin routine. My pores have gotten smaller and has reduced a bit of skin texture but I still have small little bumps on my skin and when I wear makeup it accentuate those small bumps (the small bumps don’t have any puss or anything there’s nothing) and so I want to help my skin even more now. I also did my research on the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and I’ve read that it can help with textured skin.
@@ashleyfuentes2854 Oh ok! You may want to give Facetheory's Glycolic Acid Face and Body Scrub (which is a cleanser) a try and use that one a few times during the week. I like that one a lot! :) I also have a video about it: How To Use Facetheory Glycolic Acid Face and Body Scrub: ruclips.net/video/z_gtS3DTQHA/видео.html

🙂 Yes, I can help you. Here is what it says on the Ordinary website: Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% Targets - Signs of Aging, Textural Irregularities Format - Anhydrous Solution Regimen Step - Before Oils/Creams Conflicts - Do not combine with Buffet + Copper Peptides 1% Time of Use AM and PM Which means that you can use it with any of the Ordinary products except Buffet + Copper Peptides 1%. Since it only conflicts with that specific product. Keep in mind that you should only use 3 Serums in a single regimen and always make sure to wear sunscreen when exposed to the sun. Have you already watched the following video? How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: ruclips.net/video/png_aAg5B0A/видео.html It may help you to understand how you can build the routine and what you need to be aware of. I haven't tried that combination, but you can try it and let me know! Since using Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% and Vitamin C in the same routine can just be beneficial :) So far, I just mixed the Vitamin C Powder and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% together :)
Hi Mellisa,Very informative video as usual. Question; How long do I need to wait after applying this serum and before applying sunscreen (I use beauty of Jaseon) . this serum is very oily on my face and it takes forever to fully dry up . Do I need to wait untill its fully dry to put on sunsncreen ?
Hey again! :) Thank you for this little Christmas tip, haha🥰 How much do you use of it? Have you tried to use less? Yeah, it's quite oily as it is an Anhydrous Solution (water-free formulation). Usually, wait for about 1-2 minutes and then move on to the next step :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Ya may be I should use less. I use about two finger lengths . If I take the dropper and spread the serum on my index finger and apply it to half of my face and repeat the step for the second half.
Hi I love your videos but I have a question. Can I mix amino acids +B5 and alpha arbutin and ascorbic acid and resveratrol 3% ferulic acid? Would this work well on someone who has eczema?
I assume you want to layer them? If so, yes, it will work; however, I am not sure about eczema. In this case, it may be best to contact a local dermatologist to see what's causing it.
@@ivettevegarodriguez7749 Hey again! Sorry, I got confused! The Ordinary recommends not using their Peptide Serums and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine. So, keep them separate. However, you can use Matrixyl and Niacinamide together and/or Niacinamide and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine.
I think the purpose = that you understand what you can and cannot use and how you can build your own routine. But I am not sure. 🤔 Or because they update information all the time and it's too much work 😅
Is it okay if I use this after my Benton Aloe BHA (0.5%) toner? On a dry face of course. I won't be using it mixed with my Vitamin C serum anymore, I decided to give it a try on its own, so I was wondering if it's okay to use it after BHA (0.5%) toner? 😄
Hi 👋🏻 what can you say about mixing Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% and ferulic acid 3%? I was concerned about higher ph of Ascorbyl; would love to know your opinion 🙏🏻
It's not affecting the pH since it is an Anhydrous solution. But also, Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% has a very high pH of around 6 since it is a Vitamin C derivative.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks for the reply! ^_^ I was wondering if Ferulic acid may be sort of "cancelled out" because of the high PH of Ascorbyl :/ I wanted to use those two together...
Resveratrol + ferulic acid is a antioxidant (anhydrous solution) This means that it stops working completely if it comes in contact with water. It should never be mixed with water based products or be used directly after cleansing. Wait 10-30 mins after cleansing/using water based products before applying if you’re using both in the same routine 🦋💙 take care everyone!
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hello do you think it's possible to add some drops of the resveratrol and ferulic acid in a water based vitamin c lotion since propanediol act as a solvant?

Have a look at the video below: How to use The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% in a Skincare Routine: ruclips.net/video/Lt7raeGMv4w/видео.html
There is no need to use three peptide serums in the same routine. They essentially do all the same (if they work). In case you have seen that online, it's BS. Choose the one you like most. And you can combine resveratrol with them, yes.
Good evening Melissa. I follow you all the time and am updated on many things you show us and thank you very much. Please I would like to ask you, about resveratrol, can you mix it in any moisturizer or just vitamin cream c?
Hi! I was wondering if this can be mixed with TO's Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% / Absorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% to enhance protection against the sun? I checked out your other video and learned that TO's vit C products won't be beneficial during the morning, but if stabilized and enhanced by the feruilc acid, would that help out? Thanks so much!
Hello Catherine, Yes, that is the question. Nobody tested Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid and its derivatives) on its own, so I guess it is best when they are used together with Ferulic Acid, Pycnogenol, and Vitamin E to stabilize it, as you described already. That may be one of the reasons why The Ordinary says to use it in the evening. Still, it is questionable how much the vitamin C is really doing in that formulation and if you are not just better off in creating a mixture of Pycnogenol, Vitamin E, and Ferulic Acid. I think that Vitamin C is very popular; therefore, it is used by companies to "shill" it. I have a video with the studies available here: Can Vitamin C Boost Sunscreen Protection...Let's have a Look: ruclips.net/video/IcxDB_yhZas/видео.html
Theoretically, yes. However, both are water-free formulations, so they can layer weirdly when using them in the same routine. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend it. It would layer much better if you had a water-based Vitamin C serum instead! :)
Can i use the vitamin c powder and niacinamide in the same routine but i wont mix the vit c powder and the niacinamide together i will just use them in the same routine? Thanks

What does Resveratrol with Ferulic Acid actually do for the skin? What improvements can we expect to see or feel on the skin?
Thanks for the videos
Generally, they should protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. I'm not sure about improvements, but technically, this could result in less skin aging.
Thank you for the many tips and advices! 🙏
I just “discovered” The Ordinary’s resveratrol and furulic acid about a month ago and I use it all over my body and it does wonders!
That’s some beauty hacks from me 🙂
✨ Take care everyone, and love your skin!💫

Glycolic acid
Salicylic acid
Witch hazel
Ferulic acid and reservatrol
Hyaluronic acid
Copper peptide serum
Azelaic acid suspension 10%
Lactic acid 10%+ HA
End of my routine always ends with Vit C serum and facial oil.
Thank you!!
Your AM Routine could be this:
- Cleanse
- Witch Hazel (I guess it's a toner?)
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Buffet Copper Peptides
- (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser)
- SPF
Or
- Cleanse
- Witch Hazel (I guess it's a toner?)
- Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid or Salicylic Acid (maybe)
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Vitamin C mixed with Ferulic acid and Reservatrol
- (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser)
- SPF
for your PM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Toner
- Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid or Salicylic Acid
- Hyaluronic Acid
- (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser)
Or
(1-2 Times per Week):
- Cleanse
- Peeling Solution
- Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid
- (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser)
Or
This could be an AM or PM:
- Cleanse
- Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Azelaic Acid
- (Optional Oil and/or Moisturiser)
- (SPF)
Keep in mind that using the right skincare products for your concerns should be used between 8-12 weeks to see some improvements and sometimes even longer!
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!

Cereve moisturizer
Oh and also restoring my lrp vitamin c serum in refrigerator It's just oxidize quickly so should i also restore ascorbic powder and resveratrol please tell me. Thanks❤️
Hey :)
The order changes because Resveratrol is an Anhydrous Solution.
So you would use Marine Hyaluronics before. Or even mix Marine Hyaluronics with L-Ascorbic Acid Powder and Resveratrol (that would be the best option in my opinion)
And there is no need to store the mixture in the fridge since you are mixing it fresh. And Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid should not be put into the refrigerator.
Hi Melissa,
Thank you for always helping us out with our issues!
You have helped me already with my am and pm regimen and it works really well now! I‘ve been on that regimen for months now but i wanted to incorporate the Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% & ascorbic acid 8% + alpha arbutin 2%.
I tried your tipps by not going overboard and only used 3 serums in my am routine (i switch from routines so i don‘t mix too many products at once and some have conflicts)
I used;
Egcg only around my eyes
Hyaluronic acid
Resveratrol+ferulic acid
Ascorbic acid+Alpha arbutin
Moisturizer
Spf
In one of your videos you mentioned to mix the resveratrol with an oil or ascorbic acid.
Sorry if i‘m confusing to you but i hope you‘ll understand me :)
Thank you so much! 💗
Hello Alma,
Does it also happen if you leave out Hyaluronic Acid or if you space them further apart? And how do you apply Hyaluronic Acid? Sometimes people apply it when the skin has still water drops on it, and then it drys, and it tends to pill because the formulation cannot work correctly anymore. Or if you have used too much of your Hyaluronic Acid, since the larger molecules stay on top, and if you apply the following product, it just rubs off.
See here:
The Ordinary Product "Pilling" Hyaluronic Acid And Niacinamide - What You Need To Know! (Snakeskin):
ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html
So it can happen with any product you layer afterwards but from my experience it is more so common with water-based serums or anhydrous solutions/oils.
I do use the hyaluronic acid on top of wet skin (but have never accperianced peeling before)
I took the advice of some Derms to apply it on wet skin 🤷🏻♀️
Should i try it on dry skin an then the 2 serums?
Am i doing it right, by combining Resveratrol ferulic acid and ascorbic acid alpha arbutin, 2 drops of each?
Or if i leave the Hyaluronic acid out, what waterbased serum could i use instead? Inuave almost every serum from the ordinary🙈
I really like the Pycnogenol, it gives such a nice glow to the face.
(15-30 minutes, according to some retinoid leaflets)
Applying products onto damp skin makes them absorb better into the skin.

Either way is fine! :)
hello melissa! can i use this with my vit c cream based?
this is my morning routine
cleanser, toner, resve, vit c, moisturizer and spf
Yes you can! :)
Dear, I have a question
Which is better: Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, pycnogenol and EUK134 with vitamin C?
What is the difference between them when I combine them with Vitamin C or do they have the same effect?
I'm about to buy one and I'm very confused about them🙏❤
Well, they are entirely different ingredients. The one that is better really depends on your personal skin tolerance and the concerns you have, so I can't tell you which to choose. In theory, they can also be combined. However, I think it's best to use them individually so that each can absorb effectively into the skin or just choosing the one that fits your skin concerns the most.

I wash my face at night, and I use Cerave cleanser that contains salicylic acid exfoliant, and I apply vitamin C

Can I use this serum in the morning, before going to the beach, under sunscreen or is it better to use it only in the evening?

Can I use this product with the Cerave Retinol Resurfacing Serum???
Hello again, 🙂 I was already thinking of doing it, but it is tough to stay neutral. For the moment, I do not really care about those companies, and I only look at what is working well for me, or what I like and what can grow my channel. And I am trying to help as many people as I can with the experience I gathered over the years. But when having my own brand, there is always a chance that I am not honest with myself anymore and tell people that my products are the best. So I really struggle with this. Not sure what the future will bring, but for now, that's my point of view. And thank you very much for the suggestion and feedback. ❤️
Yes, that's possible. However, since this is a potent Antioxidant, it may be best to use it in the evening's morning and retinol. Sometimes it is just too much for the skin. So try it, see how your skin responds, and if you like it, go for it. They do not conflict!

If you layer them, use your Vitamin C serum first and layer Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% serum on top :)
You don't have to use Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% when using your Vitamin C serum. However, using Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine when using your Vitamin C can stabilise Vitamin C.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thanks 😊
Hi Melissa, can I pair Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% from Ordinary with the following products in this order:
1. Fist AHA/BHA exfoliator
2.Then matrixyl synth 6 + hyaluronic serum
3. Then Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% from Ordinary
4. Then moisturizing cream with ceramides and niacinamide (from Cerave)
Thanks a lot!
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids = Glycolic, Lactic, and Mandelic Acid
So, your AHA/BHA exfoliator already contains some of these acids.
Thank you Melissa! In this case I will leave step 2 out. Can I keep steps 1, 3 and 4? what would you recommend to apply on top of BHA/AHA product?
@@TSlowdive Well, you can do options 1, 3, and 4 or options 2, 3, and 4. Just don't use the peptide serum with the exfoliating acid serums.

Hello ΤΖΕΝΗ ΚΑΣΑΠΙΔΟΥ, hope you are doing well. 😃
You can mix it with the moisturizer/anti aging cream. It does not have any conflicts with other products except for copper peptides. However, when mixing it, you also diluting the product, and it will become less potent. Therefore you need to test it to see what you like most. (Also, it can feel a bit hot on the skin; that's normal :) )

Can I use this in the same application as the Vitamin C suspension 30% in silicone?
Technically, yes. However, from my experience, it doesn't layer very well. But this might vary depending on your skin type.
Do you apply resveratrol under the eyes?
Well, it doesn't mention anything about avoiding that area, so technically, you can use it under the eyes too.

Hi Melissa can I use it with the Ordinary Peptites 'Buffet'...the one without the copper? Thanks :)
I recommend just using one of them :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Great! Thanks for your swift reply, your channel is really helpful x
is it ok to mix it with the vit c silicone option? or would it be best with the vit c and HA suspension??
I haven't tried that combination, but you can try it and let me know! Since using Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% and Vitamin C in the same routine can just be beneficial :)
So far, I just mixed the Vitamin C Powder and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% together :)
Hey again! :)
Thank you for this little Christmas tip, haha🥰
How much do you use of it?

Can i mix this in natural moisture factor and apply on damp skin and after this absorb can i apply epiduo gel
Hmm, wouldn't do that. Best to use the Epiduo gel on it's own right after cleansing. And use that combination when not using the gel.
Hi girl ,hope you ok ,can i use resverstrol with matrixile and niacinamide and in which order? Thanks
Yes, that's fine. Use Matrixyl at first and then follow with Niacinamide and Resveratrol :)
Thank you so much
Hi girl, cuestion ,can i use matrixile with resveratrol and none of them loses their benefits?
@@ivettevegarodriguez7749 Hey again!
Sorry, I got confused! The Ordinary recommends not using their Peptide Serums and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine. So, keep them separate. However, you can use Matrixyl and Niacinamide together and/or Niacinamide and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% in the same routine.
Why ordinary doesn't just issue a chart that can help us use all products. It's so confusing to me
I think the purpose = that you understand what you can and cannot use and how you can build your own routine. But I am not sure. 🤔 Or because they update information all the time and it's too much work 😅
They do

yes, apply Niacinamide first.

can you premix the powder and the Ferulic Acid and leave it in a dark jar so I don't have to mix every morning? Thank you for this informative video!
Hello, no that is not recommended since it will not be stable for a long time. Always mix it just before application.

I was wondering if Ferulic acid may be sort of "cancelled out" because of the high PH of Ascorbyl :/ I wanted to use those two together...
@@Emolas_ In this case, it won't matter because The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% does not have a pH. So, you can use them together :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet will mixing this two will be good or bad? I mean effective or not? Plz reply
Hello. This is not an issue. Since your skin is not wet when you apply it. So there is no need to wait in between.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hello do you think it's possible to add some drops of the resveratrol and ferulic acid in a water based vitamin c lotion since propanediol act as a solvant?
@@tshirtjaune8018 Sorry, I do not have much knowledge about mixing the different ingredients. In my videos, I only stuck to the recommendation given by The Ordinary. So for that, I recommend doing some more research online. Or probably best to ask a chemist that is formulating such products. :)

What Tranexamic Acid serum do you have 🤔?
Hi Melissa
You have been helping me with my skin care. I just received my resveritrol. I want to add it with my am routine. With the vitamin C day.
Can you please suggest a different toner? I can’t find paulas choice, so I have been using witch hazel face toner but I don’t feel like it does much. What would you suggest? Thank you for your time!

You can look for a Rose Toner (like Thayer's Toner), I'm From Rice Toner, Facetheory, Klairs, etc...

yes but you can also mix it with your moisturizer.
Can i combine resveratrol with argerine, matrxyl, and buffet?
There is no need to use three peptide serums in the same routine. They essentially do all the same (if they work). In case you have seen that online, it's BS. Choose the one you like most. And you can combine resveratrol with them, yes.

Please I would like to ask you, about resveratrol, can you mix it in any moisturizer or just vitamin cream c?
Hey! :)
Thank you! :)
Yes, that's fine. It does not need to be a Vitamin C product :)
Hello Catherine,
Yes, that is the question.
I have a video with the studies available here:

Hi. Can I layer this with TO Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin?
Theoretically, yes. However, both are water-free formulations, so they can layer weirdly when using them in the same routine. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend it. It would layer much better if you had a water-based Vitamin C serum instead! :)
Can i use the vitamin c powder and niacinamide in the same routine but i wont mix the vit c powder and the niacinamide together i will just use them in the same routine? Thanks
The Ordinary recommends keeping Niacinamide and Vitamin C in separate routines. So you can use one of them in the AM and the other one in the PM :)
