I'm from the UK and married to a Somali sister, she was adamant that her relatives in Somali wanted to meet me. We flew out there and honestly I was so scared you know being a white man in an unstable country. But Alhamdulillah I felt very safe walking around and I found the people to be attentive, nice and welcoming. When I returned to the UK I sure had a hard time explaining why went to Somalia lol
The real lasting development in Somalia should not only be in infrastructure but also the minds of next generations...solid rock institutions that teach children basic math and science at early age, we have villages full of young men who have memorized the Quran but cannot fabricate a simple pump....All madrasa should also be teaching basic scientific concepts to young children

I'm from the UK and married to a Somali sister, she was adamant that her relatives in Somali wanted to meet me. We flew out there and honestly I was so scared you know being a white man in an unstable country. But Alhamdulillah I felt very safe walking around and I found the people to be attentive, nice and welcoming. When I returned to the UK I sure had a hard time explaining why went to Somalia lol

The real lasting development in Somalia should not only be in infrastructure but also the minds of next generations...solid rock institutions that teach children basic math and science at early age, we have villages full of young men who have memorized the Quran but cannot fabricate a simple pump....All madrasa should also be teaching basic scientific concepts to young children

Somali Atheist We talking about rebuilding Somalia not exacerbating the status quo, u remember how the warlords who fought religion ended up in 2006, the so-called(Ash-haado la dirir). And the idea of neutralizing Religion and teaching pure science instead is not that new solution, Siad Barre tried it once and the harvest was over quarter century of unrest. we'r not really into repeating that again.
Religion is not what pulls us back rather it's the way we interpret religion, that needs to be reconsidered, but if we put it aside and avoid it will always remain a timed bomb that's gonna blow anytime, and it's blowing right now.

I'm Indian. Looking at Mogadishu, it reminds me of the streets of Bombay (Now Mumbai) in the 60's . We've come a long way since then, and still have a long way to go. I'm positive that Somalia will make the change too. Love you guys
