You didn't miss anything, he's basically referring to these people who go on talent shows on TV thinking they're the best singers because their parents have told them over and over again they are brilliant..
When in fact they're just so bad and embarrass themselves..
    Great reaction.. 💙

Exactly 'spot-on'... The additional 'knock-on' effect of these shows is that SO MANY kids believe they don't need to work, only 'become famous' to earn a living!

Also the reference to "not wearing a costume" might get lost on some people. He's referring to "Justice for dads" which is/was a protest group trying to highlight more equality for divorced dads. They used to dress up as super heroes and get attention to their cause.

I am older generation ( grandad generation ) but I was appalled when I heard a mother " plea bargaining with her young daughter the other day, to try to get her to do something which, in my opinion, was a reasonable request. A bit later, I asked the lady in question what the hell she was doing, and her answer astounded me !! - She said " we were negotiating a reasonable settlement " ???? I then said - you are not a trade union rep and your kid is not the workforce ! In my day, I would have found out, in a nano second, just what the ultimate outcome of the debate was going to be ! Sorry to say - Kids are like dogs - they need discipline if they are to mature into responsible adults, and there are not too many bad dogs, only bad owners ?????

This is so relatable! I've been in a big 'argument' with a mother. She was convinced her son was an angel and did nothing wrong. Then she came to me and said, my boy learns foul language and you have to stop it. My reply was: I'm sorry, but your son is the one who comes up with the most foul language and the others copy him. Could it be he learns these words from someone else? She was outraged! She called me stuff I did'nt know they were curse words. 😂 In the end it turned out that his granddad said those words. Very rasist etc. And his daughter, the mom said them while she did'nt realize it. Good thing: she apologized to me. 😂
    Greetings from The Netherlands.

I must take issue with this statement because I was on PTAs. Our sole remit was to raise much needed funds for things which were not covered by the school budget. ie replacing a fence round a pond, helping keep the cost down for school trips making it more affordable for families, gym equipment etc. We also helped in the classroom with cooking and listening to children read. My son was on the football team, the school could not afford to hire a minibus, so it was down to parents to ferry to away matches. We were told on numberous occasions how grateful the school was for our involvment. I certainly never asked for preferential treatment for my children.

I'm very Lucky! I have two children, who are now grown up & are in their twenties. They are respectful, healthy & good people. For me, it starts from 0 to 5 years old. I never slapped them or made them think life was going to be easy. If they did something wrong, I would make them sit on the stairs alone to think about what they did wrong. They could get off the stair when they learnt, what they did wrong. I would ask them to repeat it & give them a BIG HUGG! It's that easy! I think you may call this discipline, it's not easy for a Parent, but very worth while. You need to start, as you mean to carry on!

The reaction was great and Al Murraaaaay!!! hits it out of the ball park once more. The last bit about telling your kid they can't sing refers to the TV talent shows Britain/America Got Talent and the X Factor. Whole families, work mates, friends etc get some people so hyped up by saying they are great and have loads of talent only to embarrass themselves in front of Simon Cowell, your five minutes of fame, wasted, you are now the laughing stock of the whole country. Talent is a drug, once your hooked, it takes a lot to drag you kicking and screaming back to reality. Fortunately, there is a cure, there is an antidote to false talent and that is Simon Cowell, God bless him! As for the kids with the tablet/phone stuck in front of them at a restaurant, it has become another tool in the parents arsenal to keep the kid quiet, a form of pacifier if you will. Double D's all round guys! 😁

The long preamble was an indication that he knew what he needed to say (he was the childs father, not their friend) but didn't want to hurt the child. Hence, the repeated "i love you but there's something I have to say". In the end, he didn't say what he really wanted to but came out with something the child would find easier to take (the singing).

Almost anyone can become a good singer by singing in a choir. Doesn't have to be in front of a church of people. Because if you make a little mistake it gets lost in the harmony around you. And that harmony naturally arises, it doesn't need to be manufactured. Do that every day for 3 years, and you'll be good enough to go solo cause the choir will be inside you. God's honest truth.

Have to take issue with your contention about being the worst generation of parents. The Current generation is the worst. Many of them are little more than kids themselves, lacking in meaningful life experience and relevant maturity. Many of them resent their kids much of the time. They are parents in name only, and are not rearing the kids in any meaningful way. They abrogate their parental duties and responsibilities.
