Teaching kids that world war three is coming and they had better man up is the most important thing for their survival. How is kindness and empathy going to keep them alive on a battlefield?
You didn't miss anything, he's basically referring to these people who go on talent shows on TV thinking they're the best singers because their parents have told them over and over again they are brilliant.. When in fact they're just so bad and embarrass themselves.. Great reaction.. 💙
Exactly 'spot-on'... The additional 'knock-on' effect of these shows is that SO MANY kids believe they don't need to work, only 'become famous' to earn a living!
Also the reference to "not wearing a costume" might get lost on some people. He's referring to "Justice for dads" which is/was a protest group trying to highlight more equality for divorced dads. They used to dress up as super heroes and get attention to their cause.
Children, teeens are always filming thenselves singing, there on tick tok or one of the others and they think they are good when they are not , and hope to become singers. A good joke as it’s a big thing in the Uk with youngsters. Love the show 👌
I am older generation ( grandad generation ) but I was appalled when I heard a mother " plea bargaining with her young daughter the other day, to try to get her to do something which, in my opinion, was a reasonable request. A bit later, I asked the lady in question what the hell she was doing, and her answer astounded me !! - She said " we were negotiating a reasonable settlement " ???? I then said - you are not a trade union rep and your kid is not the workforce ! In my day, I would have found out, in a nano second, just what the ultimate outcome of the debate was going to be ! Sorry to say - Kids are like dogs - they need discipline if they are to mature into responsible adults, and there are not too many bad dogs, only bad owners ?????
This is so relatable! I've been in a big 'argument' with a mother. She was convinced her son was an angel and did nothing wrong. Then she came to me and said, my boy learns foul language and you have to stop it. My reply was: I'm sorry, but your son is the one who comes up with the most foul language and the others copy him. Could it be he learns these words from someone else? She was outraged! She called me stuff I did'nt know they were curse words. 😂 In the end it turned out that his granddad said those words. Very rasist etc. And his daughter, the mom said them while she did'nt realize it. Good thing: she apologized to me. 😂 Greetings from The Netherlands.
My wife says I'm a pushover for our 4-year-old niece. I categorically denied it. When she raised a skeptical eyebrow I pointed out I'd have to still be standing to be pushed over - not prostrating myself before her in case there's a muddy puddle she needs to walk over! ;)
lol, my parents are retired teachers, and my sister is a teacher also, and I know what a pain in the 'proverbial' kids parents can be. My mum became a head teacher, which meant dealing with the worst of the worst parents, the PTA. Love the post and keep them coming😁
I must take issue with this statement because I was on PTAs. Our sole remit was to raise much needed funds for things which were not covered by the school budget. ie replacing a fence round a pond, helping keep the cost down for school trips making it more affordable for families, gym equipment etc. We also helped in the classroom with cooking and listening to children read. My son was on the football team, the school could not afford to hire a minibus, so it was down to parents to ferry to away matches. We were told on numberous occasions how grateful the school was for our involvment. I certainly never asked for preferential treatment for my children.
Dame Edna Everage, played by Barry Humprhies, was one of Al Murray's favourites, & he said once he'd never laughed so hard as when her saw her live. I'd love to see you react to her.
When he said about his mates in costume and he would drive the van, there's an organisation called fathers for justice, who fight to get better rights for couples who have seperated, and dads don't get to see their kids as much.
Nick nailed it - delusional wannabe’s that get told all the time that they are great and they they embarrass themselves on talent shows. The truth has to be told, not brutally, but the youngsters need to know that they are not the next Beyoncé or Whitney or Adele….boys too of course. Al says a lot of truth in the this video, albeit in his own unique style.
I'm very Lucky! I have two children, who are now grown up & are in their twenties. They are respectful, healthy & good people. For me, it starts from 0 to 5 years old. I never slapped them or made them think life was going to be easy. If they did something wrong, I would make them sit on the stairs alone to think about what they did wrong. They could get off the stair when they learnt, what they did wrong. I would ask them to repeat it & give them a BIG HUGG! It's that easy! I think you may call this discipline, it's not easy for a Parent, but very worth while. You need to start, as you mean to carry on!
The reaction was great and Al Murraaaaay!!! hits it out of the ball park once more. The last bit about telling your kid they can't sing refers to the TV talent shows Britain/America Got Talent and the X Factor. Whole families, work mates, friends etc get some people so hyped up by saying they are great and have loads of talent only to embarrass themselves in front of Simon Cowell, your five minutes of fame, wasted, you are now the laughing stock of the whole country. Talent is a drug, once your hooked, it takes a lot to drag you kicking and screaming back to reality. Fortunately, there is a cure, there is an antidote to false talent and that is Simon Cowell, God bless him! As for the kids with the tablet/phone stuck in front of them at a restaurant, it has become another tool in the parents arsenal to keep the kid quiet, a form of pacifier if you will. Double D's all round guys! 😁
The long preamble was an indication that he knew what he needed to say (he was the childs father, not their friend) but didn't want to hurt the child. Hence, the repeated "i love you but there's something I have to say". In the end, he didn't say what he really wanted to but came out with something the child would find easier to take (the singing).
this is my daughter disciplining her daughter after finally losing her shit with her, which takes all day. . . takes her PlayStation off her at bed time and says right you are not getting this back till tomorrow ! ! 😳😳so she goes to sleep and gets the PlayStation back as soon as she wakes the next morning...I just shake my head in disbelief
Good morning from the Isle of Wight (small island off the south coast of England) 👍great reaction there and you two don't seem to be radical enough to be teachers, far too normal 😂 Al's character was I believe referring to wannabe pop star kids and talent shows. Nice one, great channel , take care now ✌️
The deeper joke is as you will be aware as teachers, kid's these days don't aspire to be doctors or firemen etc, they just want to be famous for the sake of it. The schools here in Sweden give kids an ipad, and allow phones in the classroom.
I was born in 1957 and we were told if we didn't eat the dinner it would be there again until it was eaten. Do something naughty we got a slap. That's how it was back then, cops were allowed to give us a clip round the ear and teachers smacked our knuckles with a wooden ruler. You know what,we had respect for the elders.
Almost anyone can become a good singer by singing in a choir. Doesn't have to be in front of a church of people. Because if you make a little mistake it gets lost in the harmony around you. And that harmony naturally arises, it doesn't need to be manufactured. Do that every day for 3 years, and you'll be good enough to go solo cause the choir will be inside you. God's honest truth.
We have had a few awful situations on out tv talent shows where some young people have been shot down in front of tens of thousands of people on tv when they were told just how awful they are at singing
just wanted too give some context on when he said the dad group he means "fathers for justice" guys who fight for dads rights but ofcourse a few crazy ones climb buildings in costumes so the media will film them.
As a millennial (1993) I can confirm we all hate Jamie "I put oil on absolutely everything" Oliver. We haven't forgotten and will never forget the twizzler wars. You sick, sick... 🤬
When it comes to major issues,,,,,do not enter in negotiation with your children. You should have the intelligence to know the answers , and apply the rules for your own family.
Giving children technology is the main problem , mobiles at school , computers in bedrooms when they are 10 , anything to keep them quiet . Parents need to get common sense
Just as an aside, Jamie Oliver isn’t a twat. It’s hard for people to take advice from a wealthy celebrity chef. However, his heart is in the right place and wants to help. He has kids and clearly adores them and wants to help. While making money.
No matter what country, religion or whatever Every parent thinks their kids are the brightest, beautiful well behaved angels youve ever met....WRONG Al is right open your eyes they are all the same. Manipulate their patents into war with neighbours friends and relatives ....... 😅🥴
The amount of people who go on televised talent shows who cannot sing is emberassing. Their parents demand to be heard and are insulted that their kids cannot sing. It’s to save kids from emberassing situations.
This a about these reality singing shows, the abysmal voices that think they're wonderful.this skit goes for another 10 minutes,Al makes everyone take a pledge to wake the kid's and tell them word for word the monologue to start taking the world back from the kids. Culminating with You can't feckin sing.🎶🎶 Stop trying to be your kids friend, you are a parent. You need to apply discipline, and advice to prepare them for the reality of real life.
more of a bird in the cage when the time is right the cage door will open for you to go out and sing but learn all the skills including social skills in school and then you should be ready to leave the house .
You have to know that his pub landlord persona is that of a bigotted, know-it-all, this-is-how-you-put-the-world-to-rights character which anyone growing up in the UK would be very familiar with. So everyone is laughing at the character not the sentiments.
You can’t sing, he’s referring to all the talent shows that have flooded tv I.e Britain’Got Talent, Pop Idol, The Voice and many more. Lots of people come on those shows thinking they can sing when in fact they are awful.
Put all those delusions about making your fortune from a record deal and music career to bed because it's not going to happen. Pull you socks up at school and plan for a life of work in a real job or you are doomed.
The fact that you actually mention getting the kid maybe some vocal training is one of those things that distinguishes Americans from British. That would never in a million years cross the mind of a British parent as a potential softener. Not needed. The kid cannot sing. End of. Yes, of course there are exceptional cases. Those who have watched too much American t.v. for example.
Have to take issue with your contention about being the worst generation of parents. The Current generation is the worst. Many of them are little more than kids themselves, lacking in meaningful life experience and relevant maturity. Many of them resent their kids much of the time. They are parents in name only, and are not rearing the kids in any meaningful way. They abrogate their parental duties and responsibilities.
The gay build up extreme reaction bit prior to the kid lecture at the end was a taboo level 9 nod to how much he couldn't handle the kid singing etc etc....lefties and wokies need to grow up for alM. Foxtrot oscar et.alm
At this time, the X Factor was dominating British TV and music charts.
The Pub Landlord is a classic. 😂😅
Teaching kids kindness, empathy, discipline and good morals is the most important thing along with taking the time to explain things. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Teaching kids that world war three is coming and they had better man up is the most important thing for their survival. How is kindness and empathy going to keep them alive on a battlefield?

…….is the correct answer.
Exactly 'spot-on'... The additional 'knock-on' effect of these shows is that SO MANY kids believe they don't need to work, only 'become famous' to earn a living!
Great video guys, this had everything, heart, laughs. loving the double D's, totally agree with your approach to stuff.
London-Brighton= 100 miles= 1 pyramid/4miles😂
Also the reference to "not wearing a costume" might get lost on some people. He's referring to "Justice for dads" which is/was a protest group trying to highlight more equality for divorced dads. They used to dress up as super heroes and get attention to their cause.
Or Fathers for Justice, but same thing.
I'm not involved in it , but came to look if anyone mentioned it. 👍
A group to get out of paying for their kid's upbringing.
@@SimSim-zf9if A group to stop women from weaponising their children

It's all about communication and there's always a serious message from Murray. ❤ Your reactions and comment's 👍🇬🇧
He was still afraid to tell his kid the truth. 😅😂😅.

I love the name boring reviews, its great
When he said about his mates in costume and he would drive the van, there's an organisation called fathers for justice, who fight to get better rights for couples who have seperated, and dads don't get to see their kids as much.
And they wear Spider-Man or Batman cozzies hence Al’s comment.
My dad told me my voice sounded like a cinder under a door...harsh but true!
I've heard it as "voice like a glede under a door", a glede being middle English for a burnt coal.
The Pub landlord reminds me on occasions of Joe (James Beck) Walker, Dad’s Army.
Simon cowell says to these got talent contestants “has nobody ever told you . . . “
Great vid, great reaction 👏
I love it when a plan comes together. Go IDF! :)

He did not always have money - he worked for it - good luck to him 💫and to Rickey who made there own fortune with talent ✨good luck to them 💫💫
It's a xfactor reference.
Its because Kids all want to be Rock Stars or Celebrities, thats why he says you cant F Sing.
You missed the point, every numpty is posting a singing video.
By more money he means alimony.
You need to watch
Al Murray, nations of the world
He uses an inflatable globe and its a 30 minute video explaining every country.

When ot was recoded during those shows america got talent
Britians for talent
More about the notion of young people worshipping celebrity culture and wanting to be famous, but having negligible talent like many of their idols.
Nick- you are SO freaking hot x
Put all those delusions about making your fortune from a record deal and music career to bed because it's not going to happen. Pull you socks up at school and plan for a life of work in a real job or you are doomed.

The fact that you actually mention getting the kid maybe some vocal training is one of those things that distinguishes Americans from British. That would never in a million years cross the mind of a British parent as a potential softener. Not needed. The kid cannot sing. End of.
Yes, of course there are exceptional cases. Those who have watched too much American t.v. for example.
Too many parents want to be their kids best friend rather than the autocrat that is required but doesn’t feel nice to be.

Your views on kids are very 18th century. Things have moved on.
He's a comedian ffs he's telling a joke not being serious
Sadly, in real life....also a posh, spoiled, right wing thing. Punches down...too much.
Far too soft with kids
Don't try and analyse British humour, it's way above your head.
You can't sing. Just watch the audition rounds of shows like the Xfactor
I’m 70 we never got asked what we wanted to eat we would have found that very strange … whatever mom cooked that’s what we ate …
Probably way off, but am intrigued, is Jodi related to Jen Plaski ? the mannerisms. are identical, just askin, to my eyes two peas in a pod ?
He dragged it on.just as perants do.trying not to offend.so called children.😅.as all parents do.😅.and cant even say it.😅😂😅.
