    A very genuine explanation. Clear, from basics at the core, to examples of wind assessed and brief application. Wind Rose diagrams are very relevant to modules in my degree.

    Hi! Thank you for this, it helped me a lot on my architectural thesis. May i ask if there is an enough time period to be covered to consider the wind rose diagram comprehensive enough?

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  3 года назад +3

      Thank you, Frances. I'm glad that this was helpful to you.
      And to answer your question, ideally speaking, a minimum time period of 365 days would give you a wind rose diagram that is comprehensive enough; so that it encompasses all the seasonal changes in wind directions over a year.

    Hi. I have one question for you. How did u plot the wind direction data centered in each direction?

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. You can use the free online tool Enviroware to plot one.

    excellent information sir. I want to know regarding placing the building orientation. U mentioned in the video that if the building oriented in parallel to the flow then max. passive ventilation, if it is perpendicular least passive. I am confused with it please exaplain

    5:09 Should we read it "Wind Direction is the highest *from* West South West" or "Wind Direction is the highest *to* West South West"?

    Very nice. But pls give more videos on wind or ventilation for around the building inside the building, opening percentage, shading devices etc

      There is software called WRplot, you can easily make wind rose using this software and it's very easy and clear

    Can you please tell what are legends ?

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  3 года назад

      Legends are any text (usually written in tabular format) that accompanies a diagram to indicate certain details in it.
      In this diagram, you can consider the wind speed range and its colour coding as legend.

    Friends, i have a doubt ... in 2:26 frequency is calculated for 100 percent ... so if we adds up , all the frequency should sum up to 100 percent but max shown is 14 percent in most of the examples ..refer 7:06 ..how is the frequency calculated

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  11 месяцев назад

      That is an excellent question. In 2:26, the calculation for frequency of only one direction is shown (for simplicity of understanding). But, in 7:06, the total number of directions considered in 16. So if you add up all the frequencies of all the 16 directions, the total will be 100.

    Have you thought about colored streetlight locations and also topography along such line[?]?

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  8 месяцев назад

      No.

    • @Flyingsidekickr
      @Flyingsidekickr 8 месяцев назад

      @@DrRohanDasgupta They seem setup for a chemical attack (purple colored streetlights). I cannot understate this because of the volume of data that is especially interesting with topographic troughs or hills (for calm conditions) and also in line with evac routes in terms of the longest spokes on the wind rose.

    Hello Sir, good video just a correction time (6:24 you used unit of speed kN/h). The unit was km/hr. In addition to that can you please explain how to interpret the direction using this diagram. As we can see there are cone for each direction components and how we find the true direction.

    • @DrRohanDasgupta
      @DrRohanDasgupta  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching the video so keenly and pointing out the mistake. 👍🏽
      Actually they're not cones, you can interpret them in the form of simple bars as well. The width of the petals don't matter.

    2. how can we use this to restrict foul smell in a building using artificial ventilation

    But how the small inlet produce large amount of wind blown ?

    • @DrRohanDasgupta

      It doesn't produce large amount of wind blown. It cools the wind.

    Preparation of wind-rose diagram is used.............
    2 points
    a. identification of wind direction
    b. Measurement of wind speed
    c. both a and b
    d. none of these
