I would tell him he's lucky I didn't show up to compete in this race this year because I would have finished in 3 minutes flat and taken gold. Then I would have gone to the nearest gym and repped 855 on incline bench without wrist wraps to celebrate. Beefcake!! BEEFCAAAAKE!!!!!!!
All of Canadian MTB is so very proud of Finn! His drive to be the best and to carry on the legacy of Stevie Smith has always been there. Today it became reality. The future of Canadian DH is bright and strong, thanks to Stevie and Finn. Nothing but love for ya Finn! Well done lad, well done!
What a ride from Laurie Greenland as well! No one came even CLOSE to him until Finn's run. Literally fifteen riders came and went without getting within FIVE SECONDS of Greenland's run except Brosnan's third place which was still over two seconds off. And not a single French rider in the top 8, which is VERY strange to see. And then Finn, well, what can you even say he did it all!! And without a chain in the last third of the track or so. I can't even understand how that happened. Great track, great race
French riders all went down either in quali (Vergier, Bruni) and in in finals (Pierron, Coulanges). Daprela and Levesque are 9th and 10th though. And don't forget Minaar that kissed a tree... This makes a lot of top riders out of the course!
Men´s DH todays win has been one of the most epic wins I´ve seen in a long time. Great riding, emotional for being CAN and first win, and oh boy, the chain-less win drama. Thanks Finn, you´ve made my day.
Run of his life and proudly carrying Stevie’s legacy with him now. I immediately watched “Long Live Chainsaw” after Finn’s epic win and the last sequence of the film was so perfect.🤘🇨🇦
I am so happy for Finn, this was such a special race for him. Also very fortunate to have it this year and to have Rob and Elliot on the commentary to call this amazing run and we will always have it to come back and enjoy just like Stevie’s run from 2013. Well deserved for Finn and long live chainsaw 🤘🏼
Honestly one of the best wins i’ve ever seen, both me and the misses had tears of joy for Finn, what a legend, and the legacy of the great Stevie Smith made it even more emotional.
Not only did Finn take the win but loses his chain a good distance before the finish and can only speed tuck with his chain swinging around on the final straight??? Holy moly! Thank goodness he had a bit of a cushion because that was close as heck
What a run. Chills every time. I am seriously disappointed that Rob Warner isn't in the booth for the UCI DH anymore, his commentary makes this legendary moment that much more special!
At the finish line, as we all watched Finn on the big screen.. At each split as the clock kept going green, everyone would erupt! And then once he crossed the line wow, thee entire mountain popped the cap and lost it! What an amazing race, Finn For The Win! Winner Winner Pinner Finner! :D \m/
@Red Bull - I've never been a fan of your drink, BUT; your presentation of any sport has always been the best tasting steezy. I am totally going to miss your flag of leadership. Much Thanks!
| have to say I'm a huge French fan of our French army lolo momo loris but, this win was maybe the most amazing I've seen, not just the planet but the universe was aligned for you, I mean because of your work, merci Finn
What a way to bring one back home. Now I emplore everyone to go pay your respects and watch long live chainsaw for free on Red bull t.v. It hits even harder after today. Unbelievable Finn 🤘
Great iconic race, happy for our Canadian neighbors, Long Live Chainsaw!!! Red Bull needs to stream the jr's racing, they have some good battles going on!!
That's absolutely awesome, I rode the west coast 20 years ago and moved back to the prarie in 08 and have been building trails here ever since, having 4 boys is great motivation to give the next generation more exposure to the greatest sport on the planet
If Cami can't race at Val di Sole, Vali wins Overall if she takes 1st or 2nd in the race, regardless of where Myriam finishes. If Myriam wins the race, she gets the Overall if Vali finishes 3rd or lower. (I haven't done the math for if neither of them wins the race or if Cami makes it back for the race.)
@@ianlarson1995 Yeah I think around 4:40 when he hits the bottom of that drop hard. He pedals once after that but it looks like his pedals just turn freely and that's when he realized it was off and stops pedaling.
They aren't hiding anything. Covering suspension/linkage designs, for prototype frames is common practice. Until a final design is decided. I'd bet Finn's Demo will be a production model withing the next year.
It's a chain disconnect feature. They don't want anyone to know that pedaling is overrated. Next prototype will have foot pegs instead of pedals. Pretty sure that's what it is, anyway....🙃
4 minutes 11 seconds is an amazing finish time, 4 minutes 56 seconds doesn't compare by a long shot. Yet the slower run was first in the video as usual lol, best for last again lets go!
Timestamp? e: I think around 4:40, or maybe the next section. He does pedal after that but I think that's when he realized it was gone because he just makes a quick turn of the pedals but there's no resistance.
@@johnd0e25 Halfway down was an exaggeration, but I think it happened around 4:40 in this video when he lands hard at the bottom of a drop. He pedals once afterwards but it looks like there is no resistance and he probably realized right then because he stopped pedaling completely after that.
How could Höll been 0.726 sec slower than Hoffmann in the mercedes-benz key section and still gain 1.4 sec at the 4th intermediate? I just don't get it.
I think it's because the key section was only about 15 seconds of that segment between splits. The entire split took most women at least 45 seconds to ride, and a lot can happen in the other 30 seconds that aren't in the key section.
it was all in the woods after the key section. Holl pulled an unusual gap where nina just rolled and looked like she carried that speed the whole way out
What would you say to Finn if you bumped into him at the afterparty? 👇
Are you going to be running chainless from now on?
FINN FOR THE WIN !!!! That he had The Spirit of STEVIE with him and He wanted him to win Today !!!!
That run was off the chain
did you see the juniors race? no? neither did we!?
Finn has been so close this year and for him to put it all together in Canada was just so epic. Stevie would be proud !! Congrats !!!
"This year" is an understatement.
Such a high-energy, emotional win for Finn. Well deserved! What an incredible race.
Well said, what a race!!!
And he did it in front of his home crowd

I agree man. The drama in Finn's run was fun to watch too
Concur. Wouldn't have been the same without Laurie's near unbeatable time.
French riders all went down either in quali (Vergier, Bruni) and in in finals (Pierron, Coulanges). Daprela and Levesque are 9th and 10th though.

of the most insane runs to date 🤯 well deserved 🤘

i am so happy for finn. it was insane, it seemed like nobody could come close to lauri and then finn smashed it as the last rider
and WITHOUT A CHAIN in the last several sections. I mean, what even
one of the most exciting sports performances i've ever seen. Lauri's time seemed unbeatable. incredible. if this was a movie i wouldn't believe it.
I am _super_ happy that the chain didn't rob Finn of his first win. That would have been absolutely *heartbraking!*
He's had way too much bs like that in the past, I'm also really glad that would've been lame af
So exciting to watch live. Couldnt be more stoked for Finn!
Awesome win for Vali! ♥

Wow !!!! J'étais présent à la ligne d'arrivée !!! Quelle émotion !!!!! Je vais m'en rapeller longtemps de cette WorldCup !!!!
Finn's run is going to go down as one of the greatest runs of all time because he still won on such a hard track with his chain off for half of it!
The second Lauri put his run down, it was a wait to see what Finn would do. Amazing to see him win after getting this hyped all week
A run for the history books. Best weekend for Canada! Fin and Jess wins!
Finn that was totally amazing and to think the chain fell out but you beat the odds I cried tears of joy for you.
My boy Aaron lifted Finn in the air celebrating this moment. Loved the race...A BANGER ...AGAIN !
What amazing runs! Soooo fast!!
So glad I got to watch mtb history unfold in real time! Nothing will ever compare. I'm gonna watch this everytime before I go ride now.
what a historic race run, an awesome race overall
The one commentator really makes viewing even better
@Red Bull - I've never been a fan of your drink, BUT; your presentation of any sport has always been the best tasting steezy. I am totally going to miss your flag of leadership. Much Thanks!
The most exciting moment I've seen in MTB so far. Finn both deserved and earned that win! 👏👏👏
Impressive run by Finn, good to see him get his maiden win!
Have watched Finn's run about 20 times so far since watching the race earlier today. Absolute legend, what a day for Canadian DH!

Just WOW 😮 & congratulations to the winners much earned victories for both competitors
Stunning ride by Vali. Women’s finds itself unexpectedly wide open. Exciting. And Finn? Without a chain? Wow. Just wow.
So happy for this two youngsters! Unbelievable! Congrats guys!
Chainsaw would be proud. Good win for Finn.
Finn Iles and Laurie Greenland's run were mind blowing
Gutted for Greenland but buzzing for Finn 🇬🇧🇨🇦
What a way to bring one back home. Now I emplore everyone to go pay your respects and watch long live chainsaw for free on Red bull t.v.
It hits even harder after today. Unbelievable Finn 🤘
Makes me cry everytime I watch it 🥹
What is the length of the track?
Holeee what a run Finn! Congrats!
Gwinn looks very happy with Finn's win.
Laurie extremely gracious in defeat. Sure he was gutted to lose it like, that but was stoked for Finn at the same time, Classy move
Yeah Finn!!! Great rider! Well deserved it!!!!!!
What an incredible chain of events!!
Beautiful runs 🥳
Crushed that Key Section!!!!! Right on the ragged edge!
One of the best runs of all time by Finn!
Rob is the best commentator in any sport ever...
Just amazing!
I was there 👑👑🥳🥳
legend. Well done Sir!
Saludos desde Manizales Colombia..
Gotta respect Amaury Pierron, could have took it easy, but he went all out, like a champ!!!
You can tell Finn made bigs strides on his mental game this season.
Great iconic race, happy for our Canadian neighbors, Long Live Chainsaw!!! Red Bull needs to stream the jr's racing, they have some good battles going on!!
What's that large block on his bike?
Tears for this win, let's go Canada!!
It nuts how fast some of these newcomers are and I'm building trails in Manitoba of all places, this sport should be mainstream

Finn PERFECT!!! 👌🚀🚀
Holy shizznutz that was fast!
LETS FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! GET THE HELLL IN SON
This world cup was amazing, i rlly thought greenland would win until the last run, gg finn
What size tires are they running?
Legendary!!
It looks like he realized his chain was off at 3:26 mark, puts in a full crank and stops pedaling suddenly. Maybe that's when it snapped?
He pedals after this a bunch so no
I think he means the time at his run which would be at 4:42
@@ianlarson1995 Yeah I think around 4:40 when he hits the bottom of that drop hard. He pedals once after that but it looks like his pedals just turn freely and that's when he realized it was off and stops pedaling.

p.s - any credible/serious ideas what Specialized is hiding on Finns bike?

Good job Finn!!
Sa vitesse dans les roches wow.
Genial 👍😎
Well deserved for Finn
LOOOOOK AT THE TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Finn is such an animal
im british and although i would love greenland to of won, man I was rooting for Finn in this. Seems like a sound lad
💪🤙🥳 Finn!!
are they riding e-bikes?
he's on a prototype, the bulky thing is just a cover to hide the linkage
Somehow, the new 0X somehow will still be more expensive
Nice
Go Finn!!!
LOOK! AT! THE TIIIIIIME!!!
LOOK! AT! THE TIME!!!!!!!
Nina Hoffmann
Chain breaks at 4:40
is finn illes on an ebike…whats that bulky thing mid frame
he's on a prototype, the bulky thing is just a cover to hide the linkage
Is Finn's nickname gonna be saw since he didn't have a chain
4:41 The moment he loses his chain

FIN ALLY!!
Not going to miss listening to Tracey hannah whatsoever.
Lets goooooo
Did he have problems with chain and if, what happened?!
He said he lost his chain halfway down
He went chainless and won anyway 😎
@@johnd0e25 Halfway down was an exaggeration, but I think it happened around 4:40 in this video when he lands hard at the bottom of a drop. He pedals once afterwards but it looks like there is no resistance and he probably realized right then because he stopped pedaling completely after that.
