I don't know what to do when this great series comes to an end. I'm a long haul trucker and my Thursday ritual has become finding something good to eat and enjoying that with the Surfers stories. Total quality time! Thank you once again!!!!
+Bill Pitts Glad to hear, a big thank you also to all the fine Gentlemen sharing the stories! Mr Jobe sure has a talent for telling this stuff....he is hilarious and it all comes naturally!
I could sit and listen to these stories for hours on end! Those were the days! Over already????? These just don't last long enough! lol I hope there is a lot more yet to come!
I just discovered this series and binge-viewed it (and some of your others) to get caught up. As a very young 'un, my dad and brother took me to Lions and OCIR, where I caught a glimpse of the tail end of this era. I assumed it was all normal, and that all drag racing was like in SoCal and would stay that way forever. Wonderful it is, how you've got these guys together to share their stories!
+88SC Thanks, 88. I agree. Back then we all just thought it would stay that way forever. Why would it possibly want to change? But then the object was to be quickest and fastest, right? But at what price? I'll take the old days too. Thanks for sharing your reflections. Bill
Amazing what you could haul in a VW. The show was all about the confusion and fuel cars everywhere. Staged, pushing out, etc. Sometimes there were some funny and scarry moments during the push starts. All depended on who was watching what. Great times to be alive and a Drag Racing fan!!!!
+bigviking0001 Yes indeed, Big Viking. You could expect the unexpected much more than you can today. I would say, "it's just different"....? But it's much more than that. Bill
Lol, wonderful they have the picture!! Those were the days
Great series. Nice to see drag racing history being preserved.....especially for younger people(like myself)who weren't alive
