    In the UK, you no longer go to the Brazilian consulate in London to legalise the documents (e.g. birth certificate) and you CAN legalise from Brazil.... if you're in Brazil, you first get the Birth certificate from the GRO website. You then send the document off (or get someone else to) to the foreign office to legalise, who then post it back. So basically don't panic if you start the whole process while already in Brazil.

    Hi, this video has just appeared to me and I'd like to share my experience.
    I am Brazilian and I am married to a Russian woman. We got married here in Russia and like you, we did not make enough researches either. When I went to the Russian embassy in São Paulo, I met another Brazilian who was already married to a Russian woman and he said it would be much easier to get married in Brazil than in Russia and I did not believe him.
    When I just arrived here to get married, I realised he was pretty right! It was a long and terrible nightmare to do all the process before getting married.
    Now I know by own experience that there are other countries much more bureaucratic than Brazil.
    How is in the UK?

    • @BrazilianGringa

      Hi @WeslleyS Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
      I would say thay the bureaucracy in general is not as bad in the UK, however there are alot of strict immigration laws so I'm not sure exactly (having not gone through the process there myself), however I was told that it would have probably been easier for us to get married in the UK

    Thank you for a very helpful video! I'm wondering how you managed to convince the judge that you knew enough Portuguese to not need a translator? Would love to avoid another extra fee, but my Portuguese is not too great (especially since everyone is talking like 100 km/h here). Do you have to say anything else than "sim"?

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  7 лет назад +2

      I managed because I already spoke some very basic Portuguese by that point and I had a good ear for it after listening to my partner speaking on the phone with his parents in Portuguese for 6 years when we were still living in England. You do have to say things other than "sim" but you just have to repeat everything the judge says (you know, just like an English speaking ceremony) you can ask him to "fala devagar, por favor" ("speak slowly, please") to make it easier for you.
      So, if you can speak at least some basic Portuguese it should be manageable, and have your fiance give you some kind of a hint when it's time for you to repeat what the judge said. If your Portuguese is 0 then I would definitely advise having a translator there otherwise the wedding could be called off and you'll have to pay all of the fees again to book another ceremony.

      Hi Kelly, I'm glad you liked the video! No, we weren't asked how long we had been together before getting married nor did we have to provide proof that we'd lived together (It is not required that you must have lived together before getting maried). • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  7 лет назад

      KellzyG It's very easy, just takes a long time. It was ages before I received my RNE (foreign identity card), while you're waiting for your visa you're allowed to stay in the country (as long as you have started the application process)

    • @KellzyG
      @KellzyG 7 лет назад

      Ah I see, good to know. And yes, I did my registration at the polícia federal at the beginning of March, so still waiting on my identity card as well--and I can't remember what they told me there, but do they notify you when it's ready to be picked up or do you just keep having to check in with them on its status?
      I'm here on a student visa for a while (I'm 24, but enrolled in a grad course here to manage to get a student visa), but it's good to know you're also allowed to stay if you've started the other visa process.

      O processo para ele casar aqui nós não sabemos muito, então la vai as perguntas :
      1) O processo demora muito?
      2) Quais documentos ele precisa para vir casar aqui no Brasil?
      3) vocês recomendam algum advogado ou agência que auxilie no processo?
      4) Seu esposo tem o visto de residência para UK ou não fpi necessário?
      5) Podemos casar no Brasil, ele com visto de turista? Porque em UK eu não posso casar com visto de turista.
      6) Vocês fizeram visto de noivos ou direto de casados? Porque muitos tem dito pra fazer o de noiva primeiro, mas se for possível fazer direto o de esposa, melhor.

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  7 лет назад +2

      1. The time it will take to complete the process will vary, I don’t know how long it will take for you personally to get all your documentation in order, however once you do have all the proper documentation and you have declared your intent of marriage at the Cartorio, it will take 30 days before you can be married.
      2. I address all the documentation that your English partner will need in the video... 1) His consularized birth certificate 2) certificate of non-impediment (in Portuguese) 3) A Portuguese translation of your consularized birth certificate (by a sworn translator) 4) Passport containing tourist visa 5) Photocopies of his passport
      3. I don’t see any reason why you would need a lawyer (I only needed one because I was born outside of the UK, although I am a British citizen, therefor my situation was more complicated than it would be for most people).
      4. My husband does have a 'permanent leave to remain visa' in the UK, however this makes absolutely no difference to him marrying me in his home country (Brazil) and was not needed whatsoever.
      5. Yes, as I mentioned in the video. You can marry while on a tourist visa in Brazil (your tourist visa may be extended up to 180 days at the Policia Federal if needed).
      6. No I didn’t get a bride/ groom visa, this is something I don’t have any knowledge of, sorry.
      I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any more questions :)
      P.S you can find some links in the description of this video with more information

    @Brazilian Gringa - I think you don't need to go to Brazilian Embassy in your native country as now you are required just to have documents with apostile clause that you can get from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country. Than you can translate documents in Brazil (or which I'm not sure but as you said in your own country).

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  6 лет назад +2

      MJDreams. Yes, you absolutely do. Your birth certificate MUST be 'consularized' at the Brazilian embassy/ consulate inside the country that you were born in (this cannot be done at the ministry of foreign affairs since the matter is due to Brazilian beurocracy and legislations and has nothing to so with the laws of your own country). There are no exceptions to this and there are no alternatives if you want to get married in Brazil as a foreigner. And as I said in the video you can have the tranlations done once you are in Brazil, in fact it is easier to do so.

    Hello. How long is processing time after application for citizenship in Brazil. Thank you.

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  7 лет назад

      Unfortunately I can't give you an exact time, but it can take up to a few months. Once you send off your application at the Policia Federal they will tell you roughly when it will be ready for collection

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  5 лет назад +1

      I'm not sure, I don't have citizenship. I have a Permanent Residency visa. The application process took a month or two, I don't quite remember. But once you're married to a Brazilian citizen you get a grace period while your application, for a visa like mine, is being processed

    hi, I am married to a Brazilian woman and I am currently living in Indian. my married certificate is from SP Brazil. so if I will get visa for going to Brazil ( not tourist visa) and how much chances of getting it...?

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  8 лет назад +1

      If you have married a Bazilian citizen and you would like to move to Brazil to live there, then you will be able to apply for a "permanant residency visa" based on your marriage. You can do this at the "Policia Federal" in Brazil, you will need to take your marriage certificate and all of the other documentation I mentioned in this video (except your certificate of non impediment).
      I hope this answers your question! : )

      Brazilian Gringa I am not in Brazil I am in India and I want to apply from India if it is possible. or I need apply family reunion...? how much % of getting visa for based on married certificate.

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  8 лет назад +1

      IndiaeBrasil - IeB I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by "apply family reunion". If you are married then you are 100% able to apply for, and receive a 'permanent residency visa' however there is no point doing this unless you intend to live in Brazil. If you simply just want to travel to Brazil for up to 6 months, you are able to do so on a tourist visa. Thank you for your questions! Please let me know if I can help you with this further :)

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  8 лет назад

      Hi @MaSk MaN It really depends on what sort of work you are doing, I personaly work for an English school, a private company and as a self-employed English tutor. From my experience the working conditions here are very good and most companies offer both life & dental insurance to their employees.

      Brazilian Gringa English is a plus advantage or their language?

    • @BrazilianGringa
      @BrazilianGringa  8 лет назад +1

      The only advantages of speaking English here are if you work for a
      multi-national company or if you want to teach English.
      Most Brazilians do not speak English, it is very important to learn at least some basic Portuguese if you are planning on being here for a long time, I would recommend using apps like DuoLingo and Memrize to get you started!
