They did treat him like a human being. Human beings are horrible to each other. Revenge is the most basic of human instincts and really only humans engage in violence for the sake of revenge. Barbara treats everyone like a lab experiment because she is permanently detached from her emotions and I suspect this was the only reason Homelander didn't kill her. Because she is detached emotionally, he wouldn't get the same kick out of killing her that he did with the other two. She doesn't fear death because she's stunted emotionally and this takes a bit of leverage from Homelander. By killing everyone in front of her, he's hoping she'll crack and show some emotion, but she doesn't. She won this round between them, despite the loss of her colleagues and even if she does die, she didn't let him see her crack. Not like how the other two went out, Frank and uh..Squirt.

Homelander really only kills those who were just simply very mean to him or didnt care when he was screaming in agony. But Barbara is one of the master minds behind torturing him just like stan. So he does something way worst than lasering a hole in her and after 30 seconds or so crushing her head or putting her in a very strong oven (that was suppose to test durability of the strongest man on earth) and setting max power. He leaves her with a fate worse than death. Even if vought eventually rescuse her she will be traumatized for life just like he was.

Everyone is getting this whole thing wrong, because the truth lies on which side you're arguing from.
    1. In universe, she is not getting out. The implication by welding the door shut and it being a secret lab, says that she's doomed. He went there to enact vengeance. Her getting out after a day or two wouldn't be enough. There's not much too it.
    2. Following logic, beyond what is implied and meant by the scene, says she would of course get out once someone that cared came looking. Someone on security detail, a relative, an administrator, etc. someone would be expecting a report from these people AND know where they were supposed to be. She would be out in relatively short order.
So, if you're talking about what the scene is supposed to represent, 1 is the truth.
If you're talking about what would really happen in a situation with these parameters, 2 is the truth.
    They're two totally separate things.
They can both be true, because 1 stops at the end of the available details, and 2 continues on from flow of logic.

It's probably not the type of research facility that turns in reports daily. Same stuff doing their thing for the last 30 years.
Barbara seems the supervisor for the whole thing, so yea she's not getting out soon.

I would guess Barbra was betting on him “needing” the scientists as a source of love. However I think she failed to realize he has somewhat abandoned the idea of getting their approval.
    I could be wrong though.

Homelander has killed so many people since he was a kid. No one teach him compassion. They could create a superman, but they really treated him as a product. At the trailer of season 3. Younger homelander has killed a nurse, but no one teach him to be regretted instead they said the replacement will come , so he thought humans are his toys. He's been a murderer sice a kid. No one teaches him to love other humans. Indeed they has created a monster.

I like her. Not the others, just her.

Search & rescue would sweep the place for survivors, likely finding & freeing her. It may take time but she would live...for now.

Whose search and rescue? It's a secret lab, owned by Vaught which Homelander controls, it will just be covered up

Unless the room will run low on oxygen due to being welded shut. I think its a safe bet someone will come and rescue her sooner or later. I think it was simply HL psychologically torturing her, not killing her.

He could’ve escaped at any time… showing us that Homelander is indeed a narcissistic victim.

By that logic a kid could runaway from an abusive parent at any time and staying means they like it? in Homelander case Ig he could've gone full bright burn at like 7. But how's he to know he's even the strongest at that point or that they couldn't track him down etc. Imma be honest u feel for sum really basic gaslighting
