It was ok but people putting it on the level with the Wire, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, Sopranos, etc are overselling it. It's an enjoyable show but I requires a massive suspension of disbelief, is filmed by a crackhead, and in general isn't written especially well. I would say it's about on par with Sons of Anarchy or Oz. Enjoyable but stupid.
@@daru_klas you must be 19 or something, Your issue with the filming makes it clear you did not watch tv before 2000, and to put SOA up there is even more stupid, the writing in that show was massively unrealistic
Nah...I loved the Sheild, and maybe you can say it was "overlooked" during its first season...maybe second. But once the 3rd season got underway, they began winning Golden Globes, Chiklis won an Emmy, and A-List actors like Glenn Close, and Forrest Whitaker wound up becoming part of this incredible series. If that's your definition of underrated, I would like to see what you consider the opposite of that.👍😁👍
I Love It!! After more then a year of the show being over people are still making tribute youtube videos and commenting on them, speaks to how good the show was!!!
When it was on,it was like the best kept secret on TV!One time my best friend was like hey cool it,it's only a show!I'd be so worried how that loveable scumbag Vic was going to get out of the next jackpot he got into!lol
Back in high school, I named my paintball team "Strike Team" after watching this TV series. However they were all girls in it instead of hardened police officers.
This is such a great show. I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago. One "small" thing I noticed whilst rewatching, and something you can see in this clip, is that the actors have a really good trigger discipline with their firearms. Especially for a show from the early 2000s. It's one of the four rules of firearm safety, and it's also something that is often discarded by hollywood as of today. Even though they'll be the first to complain about firearms, they're also the first to ignore basic rules of safety. It's especially frustrating when they depict characters that should care and respect these rules (like police officers and law-abiding gun owners), but they don't. In this show it's respected, hence accurate most of the time. And I love it. Anyways, cheers from France! 🍻
Good post. Would you agree that Claudette looks awkward when holding a gun? She doesn't appear to be holding it properly. I think one example might be the early episode (pilot?) where the kidnapped little girl was rescued from the place that the pervert was holding her (the guy Vic beat up in the interrogation room). When Claudette and members of the strike team raided the creep's place, I think I remember Claudette looking very clumsy holding a gun.
@@bholaoates1542 First, sorry I'm only seeing your reply now. I can't remember how CCH Pounder held her "firearm" in the early episodes. One actor that surprised me the most about firearm handling was Walton Goggins. Michael Chiklis also had a weird way to hold a firearm. That said, recently firearm safety has been on the news because of Alec Baldwin. What happened is bad and it shows how people from hollywood don't care about safety. They're elitists. Next time I watch the show, I'll try and watch how CCH Pounder manipulates firearms, but right now I can't judge just from memory. The Shield is one of my favorite shows ever, so (hopefully soon for you) if I rewatch the show, I'll pay more attention to this character and if I can find this reply, I'll update you. Again, cheers from France! 🍻
@@dannysunay4386 Yes they do. As far as I know, Municipal/National Police and Gendarmes all carry firearms. Some have a cord linking the firearm to their clothes (which looks ridiculous), and some don't. But to my knowledge, most if not all carry. It doesn't make them pro self defense for the citizen though, sadly. In my country you can be arrested for hurting a cop's feelings. Freedom, equality and brotherhood my a**.
i said it before and i say it again, 97 til 08 was a great time for tv, it all started with OZ, then the sopranos , the wire and the shield, breaking bad is the legacy of these great shows, tv has never been the same again, after BB ended everything looks the same, and because of streaming there are too many series overall, i cant believe its 22 years since the sopranos first came on, guess im getting old. and when it comes to a series finale the shield is still the gold standard, utterly devastating and unexpected
And preceding all those were Hill Street Blues, The Equalizer, St. Elsewhere and Homicide Life On The Street. These are all iconic tv dramas that basically birthed Oz, Sopranos, The Shield, Breaking Bad etc.
Ironic that Michael play the Thing in Fantastic Four and Michael Para in this current video clip that I'm commented on he's the Storyteller and the best friend of Ant-Man LOL
The first cop show where routing for the bad guys became de rigeur. Any doubt this is what makes people dislike cops? Yet here we were routing for Vic Mackie.
God I miss this show ! One of the best most overlooked shows of all time
It was on a new relatively unknown network for most of its run...I thought it would r gained a cult following in the years after the finale...

it's a classic it will NEVER not be a good show because it's based on the rampart scandal the LAPD CRASH program was full of dirty cops
Loved this show in high school. Still love it. Think I’m gonna re-watch it again …
The sudden camerawork from inside as the team rushes past outside really works. The authenticity is amazing.
Seriously though, seeing that FX logo and The Shield hearing those gunshots....😢so much nostalgia childhood memories 😭
I miss this show.

Let saved Shane life TWICE during the show. By killing someone who was going to shoot him.
I need this whole boxset series beginning to end!
Cold Wars over boys!……lmfao Shane was hilarious
Strike Team raids are the shit
Vic and the boys don't fu*k around when they are doing a raid! love it!
4:57: Vic: Oh no, you don't
So funny, barely remember Michael pena was even on this show
Army was a pussy I hated him and he was selfish
We need the Strike Team again.
We need the Strike Team in real life💪🏾
Damn fine show......Miss it
Well at least Shane paid back lem for saving his life
I miss back then when vic and shane were still freinds and lem was still alive
The best serie!
When the boys were in action they didn't play around!

I think it’s possible. But a show about corrupt cops would never fly today.

the shield is tha shit! total rule
Cool.
Vic Mackey is the Best
The strike team strike again!
The strike team striking.
When the clock strikes 6 you'll meet Vic, and the strike team.
Keep of Vics radar.
Groundbreaking….
strike team bbbrrrrraappppp
I’m new to the show.. so far 2 nonstop minutes of cops harassing black people and Asian people lol
Alright then…. I’ll check it out some more haha
Lol well you might not want to watch this show it's definitely not PC.
This show is so insanely stupid but i was fun to watch
Dr Glock .40 sw
Love the show but their raid planning sucks. In real life they would’ve buried two or three police
5:44 In tv, they flashbang the criminals. In reality, they get the wrong house and flashbang and kill a baby.
take care nigquhhhhhhhh
