I'm not a fan of the core roll mechanic of 24XX (I'd probably swap it with a FU yes/no/but/and d6 with dis/advantage), but oh my goodness the format is brilliant! One page of beautiful, inspiring art (just as important for establishing tone and setting as the text), and then three pages of extremely slim rules, character creation, world building, and scenario creation. And an elevator pitch on the back. So many RPGs lack an elevator pitch.
For entirely selfish reasons, I think everybody should go check out all the other 24XX games from the 24XX Jam... especially if you like, you know, Sky Islands and airships. who said that...
Blood Heist is a game I think you might really enjoy! Tons of useful tables and a great single mechanic. Your comments on The Venusian Job made me think of it.
When I've run it I tend to go very low prep, so I just give them the basic concept like "you're space truckers" and have them roll some characters, then we work out the setting specifics as we go.
You need to get away from maps snd go to a cinematic style - essentially a point to point map (superimposed on a nice illustration). This is not only much more efficient it also gives you a lot more flexibility to change things on the fly.
Bastionland + 2400 is a crossover episode I didn't know I wanted :)
The film you were thinking of when talking about The Zone is Annhilation, one of my favourites!
Woo! Chris is my number one funnel into new and exciting rpg space
You gotta problem with Duncan Idaho, you gotta problem with me. 🤠
Thanks for showing this. I just picked up 2400 and Zone is everything that I want in a Roadside Picnic / Stalker RPG.
glad to have you back!
my 2400 hack i made for the 24xx jam has the same edmund weiß painting that got put on pg 5 of into the odd remastered, which makes me happy

Looks neat, I'll check it out!
Super curious about your thoughts on Orbital Blues.
I have it, but have only given it a quick skim through so far. Definitely in my to-read-mountain.
It never stops growing these days eh? Death in Space and Viking Death Squad come this weekend. Reading through Orbital Blues now myself.
How would you introduce this to a group? How much would you share with them?

"Good riddance, Dave...to you, I mean."
Gold.
It’s not stealing, mate. Check out Agents of the ODD if you’re worried.

Q) Is it just me, or is this video interrupted with glitches? (I tried other YT videos without the same issue)
I have heard that he has trouble with Twitch streamed videos that he uploads to RUclips. But the problem seems to clear up after a few days.
The Beard is gone, and it is throwing me off :{)
I have to check my face is still there roughly once a year.
