Even if you're stone deaf to how good Mooney's playing is, his style of playing is so fucking unique. Ain't never been anybody as good before, during or after.
I love how they were singing a Motown song! I was born in 1967 in Detroit and all radio stations played Motown music 24/7 back then. To be honest, I got tired of hearing Motown music all the time. Every TV commercial; every radio station. But, I love how the Brits, like "The Jam" and Clash took the great Motown music and went with it. The Who too, of course.
This might be considered one of the greatest documentations of rock music in the early 60s. Everything about it is so rock and roll. From Daltrey’s badass shades, to Keith Moon gleefully mouthing the lyrics at the beginning. Not to mention a great song with an even better melody. Gives me chills…
You can tell it just came naturally to him , no matter what he did in a drum fill he always came back in on perfect time !! I’ve had friends say he was “sloppy” , I totally disagree !! I could listen to Keith play all day and not get tired of it !! Not technical ..... but musical .
This video shows just how unique Keith Moon was, and how much the Who are missing that critical element . Zach Starkey is a great drummer. Keith Moon was the Who's drummer tho.
this is great I'm a massive fan of the who and this is deaf the earliest i my self have seen of them they look so young and moon so tame lol but its quite noticeable that he nocks it up a notch when he notices the camera on him such a show boat
The Who's best days were the Mod years, Pete used a 1993 Rickenbaker 330-Plus Fireglo semi-acoustic, with two Single Toaster pickups, R-shaped tailpiece and F-holes. I Gotta Dance to Keep From Crying The verse: E G#m E G#m Chorus: B D# G#m B D# G#m .
Am I the only one who thinks John Entwhistle was the coolest cat of the four of them? He was the most relaxed nonchalant dude on stage one ever seen and at the same time looked like he was examining the nearest exits if shit ever went down.
I had the pleasure of jamming and talking to Roger one day and the way he describes John " He had a very high singing voice and then one day his balls dropped and it was gone"
Ya know whats great about ol Roger Daltry? The fact that he publicly stated that the mass media classified him as a mod, but his heart wasn't in it. He was a TED at heart !!! I love that !!!
Carlo Little was Keith Moon’s drum teacher. The first thing he taught him was to play louder and work your way around the kit. To say Keith took this to heart would be a severe understatement. ruclips.net/video/LT7ka5rJctA/видео.html
The visual between what John appears to be playing and what I'm hearing don't match up. Starting at around 0:14, John's fingers are plucking wildly but I only seem to hear 2 notes alternating between E and A flat.
Noticed to but like with Hendrix and Moon ( and Townshend)it’s always hard to know how Entwistle is actually producing sound . Stamp or whoever made the promo film probably shot randomly and cut wildly.
This is good, but if you were there in ‘64 and someone told you that’s an arguable best drummer, and an arguable best bass player, and one of the best guitar players, what would you have said?
Gather, I'm swiggin beers. Help me forget my hurtful tears. Abou the only girl I ever loved, only one I'm thinking of of. Gotta dance to keep from crying!
Even if you're stone deaf to how good Mooney's playing is, his style of playing is so fucking unique. Ain't never been anybody as good before, during or after.
Greatest drummer ever!

THE WHOLE VIBE IS WILD
This is, hands off, the most mmagical video that I ever saw in my whole lifetime.

Ah....a great cover of smokey robinson song.
Keith Moon was a master of his craft even back then as an 18 year old.
Keith Moon inspired by Gene Krupa her teacher0
I know! He is so young and adorable!
Ye raving mad man love him

I love the way John is singing the high notes in the chorus. it gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to this masterpiece.
Yeah, considering "Boris the Spider".
Talk about range.
@@roughcutguitars His range is best displayed on A quick one while he’s away
Keith singing along at the beginning is just the cutest thing!
You can tell he’s spun on amphetamines from the rapid blinking.
@@kobold7763 I think everyone is in the crowd is, most are chewing gum.
watching an 18 year old keith moon plays the drums in his own unique style never can be repeated.
Sixty years ago... unbelievable.
I can only imagine what it felt like in that room. Hot and humid and dangerously loud, I imagine. Amazing film. Wish I was there.
I never get bored with this! They were so young, raw and cute!
Somebody from 1993 travelled back in time to give Daltrey those sunglasses.
Confirmed
Roger Daltrey is John Titor
They must of gave some to Lou Reed too
Bono? Lol
Yeah I didn’t know they had speed dealers in the 60’s lol
fraid not mate. Just took us time to catch up with him.
Thought i was watching this video in x2 but it was just everybody in the video speeded out their mind!
In America we had The Blues, in England you had some blues
this is perfect
What an amazing version ❤🇬🇧
Everything about this is incredible
i love how you can see keith mindlessly mouthing along to the lyrics,,,, its just so wholesome and precious wtf
No, He isn’t “mindlessly singing” he is singing because he’s copying the melody with his drumming 💕
@@sk8taway^^^^this. Major part of his early style.
Im a rocker and I love this tune
Fascinating footage, I can't stop watching this.
AWESOME
This video shows just how unique Keith Moon was, and how much the Who are missing that critical element . Zach Starkey is a great drummer. Keith Moon was the Who's drummer tho.
Kenny Jones did OK, too - but he wasn't Keith.
Ya, Zach could keep a beat.
Zack it's not a official The Who drummer, he's okay but not is official member.
Is that Ringo junior?
@@allanjones6415 Keith was never was ever officially asked to join and he always felt a bit of an outsider in the Who.
Fantastic performance. Love the way Roger Daltry moves.
Beautiful filming. Black & white, shadows. Dancers close, band in back, brilliant.
This video is beautiful
This video makes me so happy
I was an skinhead from 80s,but love the high numbers,
this is great I'm a massive fan of the who and this is deaf the earliest i my self have seen of them they look so young and moon so tame lol but its quite noticeable that he nocks it up a notch when he notices the camera on him such a show boat
SOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOL !!!!!!!!!
Watching again and keith moon steals the show. Something about him.
He’s constantly aware of the camera.
When you see this clip, you are seen the work and vision of The Who s managers. They conceived the image of this band, from the beginning,
And marketed them to guys rather than women. Lol
I saw Roger Daltrey live in 2022. He was great
Seen him (and Pete) 4 times. He’s amazing
The Who's best days were the Mod years, Pete used a 1993 Rickenbaker 330-Plus Fireglo semi-acoustic, with two Single Toaster pickups, R-shaped tailpiece and F-holes.
I Gotta Dance to Keep From Crying
The verse:
E G#m
E G#m
Chorus:
B D# G#m
B D# G#m

Keith moons drumming style is legit 👌
Am I the only one who thinks John Entwhistle was the coolest cat of the four of them? He was the most relaxed nonchalant dude on stage one ever seen and at the same time looked like he was examining the nearest exits if shit ever went down.
*Entwistle
Bass players typically
Ox!
He had the best sense of style and was the cutest too, IMHO.
This was shot for the proposed film that Lambert and Stamp were going to produce on London night life.
-And to think that these kids, are now around 70.
Only real crazy people like KM can drum like this
I wish they'd brought this out on single!
It was....by smokey robinson 1964 Motown
@@vernonsmith6176 I know that but I meant by the High Numbers
Do you want to know something interesting...if you liked the Beatles, "I want to hold your hand ", try listening to LAKESIDE version of it.
Right, Debra. On Fontana!
Best version
Truly a band that mattered and not just had hit records!
English blue eyed soul at its finest! Do it fellas
Love this footage. Amazing.
The reason Roger was wearing shades was because his dad had hit him earlier that day and he had a black eye.
Raw and fucking class
So R&B. Priceless footage, thx to poster.
Better than anything in 2020!!!!
Im pure mod for it!!!!!!
The who are THE best band Britain ever has and had!!!.... 😎👌🛸🌾💥💥💥💥💥🌅🤗
youre not wrong
So young is all I can think
Oi senhora quantos anos vc tem hoje , com todo respeito
I had the pleasure of jamming and talking to Roger one day and the way he describes John " He had a very high singing voice and then one day his balls dropped and it was gone"
totally raw,great footage
Incredible! Brilliant freezeframe in the moment when it all began.
Over 35 years ag we got teas d with clips of this footage in the doc, The Kids are Alright. Absolutely mind blowing to see it in full. Thank you!
This is brilliant. Reminds me of my mom and dads record collection. Many thanks for posting!!
This is one of my favourite videos of them, the were the PERFECT band since its beginnings!
Keith Moon was AMAZING
Keith is so adorable!
They were the coolest when they all played rics
It surprises the quality of the video and recording. The Who s' manangers were ahead of their time. Check out their video. Lambert & Stamp.
+Luileadolfo Made for a film, that's why it looks so good. Glad we're fortunate to peek a little into the early Who, before their original hits!
That is a band, right there, folks,f kin right there,
Brilliant.
First time I've seen a jumper tucked into trousers and its been cool.....
Ya know whats great about ol Roger Daltry? The fact that he publicly stated that the mass media classified him as a mod, but his heart wasn't in it. He was a TED at heart !!! I love that !!!
The whole band was. As Pete said “mods liked us. We’re weren’t really mods. But they liked us”.
The Who were making RUclips "living room rock" videos before there was a RUclips!
Thank God that Keith never had a drum lesson. He taught himself to be the perfect drummer for the Who.
Carlo Little was Keith Moon’s drum teacher. The first thing he taught him was to play louder and work your way around the kit. To say Keith took this to heart would be a severe understatement. ruclips.net/video/LT7ka5rJctA/видео.html
Is this the oldest vide recording of the who?
Great Version of this song and Performance!
Great ! Never seen this one....
Wow this is great quality. Thanks for sharing.....love these guys.
This is August 1964. Keith just joined in June.
I don't think it entirely clear when he met and joined, but he was definitely playing with them in early May.
@@WhiteyMcCracker I got my information from Keith's biography
Back when they were just a little, barely known garage band
awesome soulful roots
Class act pure and simple, God bless every member of the WHO.
They sound so Good
anyone know where i can get a jumper similar to ,or the same as Keith moon in this ?
Keith was brilliant even then!
I wish I was there ... Thank you :)
John was such a great singer
Aka Weird dancing and baby faced who members lol.
My second or third favorite band that is up there with the Beatles.
Fantastic!
Yeah really! I love this song! its crazy omeone was able to find some of this early footage of the who!
The visual between what John appears to be playing and what I'm hearing don't match up. Starting at around 0:14, John's fingers are plucking wildly but I only seem to hear 2 notes alternating between E and A flat.

Still so cool
Keith Moon was a star from the beginning and fun to watch!
This is good, but if you were there in ‘64 and someone told you that’s an arguable best drummer, and an arguable best bass player, and one of the best guitar players, what would you have said?
I see it here- well it’s harder with the simple bass line- but the tone is great- but who could play like Moon here?
Gather, I'm swiggin beers. Help me forget my hurtful tears. Abou the only girl I ever loved, only one I'm thinking of of. Gotta dance to keep from crying!
oh man, i miss this feeling back in the old days
Love everything about this!
We are the Mods! 1964
Wish I was there the lad in breton top oh my can't believe there all old now born in the 60s wish I had been part of this
Roger Daltrey I suspect though he was the world's coolest human. Maybe for 15 minutes on this night he was
Fresh. Immediate. Promising. Direct. Moddish. We wuz there maaaaaannnnn.
Quality cheers mate 😎
THE MIRACLES are the MOST -COVERED of ALL of Motown's groups. It's no surprise that THE WHO covered this 1963 Miracles hit.
WOW!!!
This is brilliant!
Kool 😮
