Amazing interview, gotta love when people speak the truth about general population's mindset about social justice, religion, goals, and keeping up with the next person when it comes to status or image.
Appreciation of the simple things like breathing and being able to see is such a privilege. Stoicism is a great philosophy to practice. Caceres and prochazka are some of my favorite fighters because of their mindset and performances in the cage!
That is crazy I keep seeing that word stoicism.
The time Bruce Leeroy has put in for the Sport is crazy, I even remember him doing flips and knocking himself out during the early internet days 😂

His idea on not getting very happy or sad at the outcome of a goal is so true. In poker they also say this because if you get mad you go on what people call tilt and start making poor decisions.

Real talk, this dude slammed my sister at a frat party like 7 years ago. She said he was a really cool dude, she was to drunk to drive herself home so he even gave her a ride at the end of the night. By all accounts a true gentleman.

The UFC has a TON of these type guys. Guys they just don't care about; mid level guys booked against other mid-level guys simply to fill a card. Amazing to think Bruce Leeroy has been in the organisation over a decade and you just don't hear about him. They decide who is and isn't worthy of any kind of push and the ones who aren't just toil away in obscurity for years and need a fair bit of luck to get any sort of traction.
@@sarah-babyshower7716 yep, it’s not a real sports league, it’s basically just WWE where they decide who the stars are and who they want to push. Just like stripping Jiri of his title when he got hurt when the constant drug tests couldn’t get him.

I heavily resonate with Alex, my attitude these days is my gratitude. Goal oriented I once was, then I paused that and shut it out because my head was too focused on the goal that I didn't see what I was missing out on in life and just being so in that moment was what I was missing but I am not that no more, I wake up with a task everyday and that's to just live and be alive in my moments and always filled with endless gratitude.

Alex's views share some overlap with my journey with Buddhism; making a distinction between what 'the mind' is doing and who we are, non-duality, understanding that satisfaction is an attitude you bring *to* life, not something you get from it. Not outsourcing our happiness to peak moments, not living in the future, all this is stuff I feel profundly blessed to have learned, I can't imagine my life without it. Respect to him for being real and going deep, may we get to see this kind of humanity more and more.
