    I have absolutely loved wildlife my entire life, so you can nerd out about wildlife and nature all you want. It's all some of God's greatest gifts to us. Mike and I always wanted to have a big piece of property with a stream, waterfall and pond, but I guess it wasn't what God had planned for us. Perhaps that is why I enjoy watching you, Deejay, your family and critters so much. Your way of life is pure perfection and y'all sharing it with all of us is such a precious gift to us all. Thank you all for that. With prayers, love, and gentle hugs for y'all and your critters, too. God bless.......Donna Gulyas in Florida. 🌴

      @morganalori 4 дня назад +2

      I agree. Your ruminations about land management is the most sensible and correct way to manage land for all usages. And it's correct for dealing with invasive species too. Wish BLM and Forestry would pay heed. Forest/gov't is just realizing how fire works with the landscape and that the policy of 0 fires has backfired so badly. Nerd away on land/timber/water management, very entertaining and can tell it's a passion. Never put down your passion

    I find it amazing that those trees stood for all those years through storms and such and are as brittle as they are. Then again there is a 400 year old ghost forest on the pacific coast that has weathered pacific storms still standing. I had thought it was the salt water preservation but I now believe it’s just the water.

    Out around Gene Autry, I was trimming trees around the power lines. Decided to eat lunch under the bridge in the shade. Each side had large rocks piled up. I almost sat on a Copperhead.🤠
    On the way back up to the road, we saw an all black rat/chicken snake. I believe these snakes also eat copperheads as well...

    I'm so glad to see somebody else who nerds out on wildlife. Our farm we have 200' front x 8 acres back, wildlife buffer zone. We don't mow it, it's a place for the wildlife to get back to a national forest. We have planted blueberries, blackberries, wild grasses, and some oak trees. We have seen deer, bears, lil critters, bobcats, and at the moment a mountain lion, in the buffer zone. We don't allow hunting on the farm either. Too many weirdos that can't tell the difference between deer and sheep. Keep loving the wild things Daniel.

    So concerning your pump, if you took a 5 gallon bucket and drilled a lot of 1/2" holes in it.
    then put your suction hose in the bucket and tie it in where it does not touch the bottom of the bucket.
    The bucket will keep mud out from the suction line and should let the water in fast enough to suck the water out.
    If you attach a rope to the bucket, you can then control the depth of the bucket. If you attach it to an anchor, point up on top of the bank.

    I'm from Southern California, and we had friends who had an orchard where they grew persimmons. My dad had a longtime business relationship with the man who owned that orchard, and we had permission to go in in the fall and harvest the persimmons. We had a pickup that we would load the 6-foot stepladder on and go get persimmons.
    My Mum would take the persimmons and make preserves that we'd enjoy, and she'd take more of the persimmons and make pulp, to which she'd add raisins and make some delicious cookies every fall.
    God rest her soul. I've got several of her recipes, but not sure if I have her persimmon cookie recipe. If I had access to persimmons here around my place in Oklahoma CIty, I'd harvest the persimmons and make cookies. I'll look and see if I have the recipe. If you're interested I'll share the recipe with you.

    Hey Dan'l! I know, "apples/oranges", however, one of the guys on a gun forum I haunt has a Kioti DK260 tractor. His unit has brass Zerk fittings and he's finding heads snapped off when he goes to service it. IF you have a brass grease fittings, be watching for it.
    The pond is lookin' good! And that burn area is bouncing back nicely. People are too afraid of managed fire to keep forests under control WA State's deer population should be great, but the underbrush is so thick NOTHING can wade through it. And the fire season makes a real mess of stuff since there's too much fuel down low and gets really bad, really fast.

    Great video. I love the pond brush fire… standing timber and waterlogged stumps seem to burn pretty well. The Hogeye camera looks like a really nice upgrade. Now you will know when Emily gets home at night from a date. Technology is moving forward in leaps and bounds… pretty soon your trail camera will be using AI to show you giant 18 point buck running through your land 😀. I love the amount of work and care you take with your land. Thanks for sharing!

    As a former pond builder on golf courses, I find your pond project amazing and fun to watch the progress. On that note I still think you need a muck bucket so you don't cut through the clay liner and create a leak further down the road.

    I was a wastewater treatment operator for years. We had drying beds of processed sludge that use to get rain water in the he beds. We used a plastic five gallon bucket that we cut slots and put the trash pumps hose in and it worked pretty good at preventing the screen from plugging.
