An absolute beast of a rider. Perfect style with the best throttle control ever on all surfaces. No one carried momentum like Seb. A far more aggressiveDavid Bailey style .Sadly mechanicals and injuries robbed him of so much more US success. Hands down the fastest 2 stroker alongside bubba on 125cc to have put leg over a bike.
One of my hero !! Saw so many of his races... battling with the best riders ! Missing those moments, definitely one of the greatest . Also I learned a lot through his motoverte riding school vhs ;)
Massimo from Italy. Absolutely amazing ! Those were the years when the drivers were really fast! The bikes were great and the tracks were for real men! Seeing today's motocross I feel a great sadness! The first track of the video is the Baldasserona in S. Marino a few kilometers from my house!
No. I couldn't count how many times Ricky passed Sebastian on the track, easily. On the very rare occasion Sebastian got Ricky, Ricky didn't put up a fight in order to get the overall.
He was great, Ferrandis is a hell of a rider though and with similar profile, attutude and natural talent... we will see what he does moving up to 450s
@@jaysmokey idk he kinda looked like he was on rails in the 450 class, wrapped up the 450 outdoor mx championship with one race left. But if u think he struggled to win the championship with more than one race left in the series, then I agree!
Tortelli was very fast indeed, pushed Everts on more occasions.. But don't forget pourcel.. he was paralyzed from the waist down, had a half stomach and still won championships.. If cairolli didn't ran over this man's head he probably was the champ that year in mxgp to. He was faster then cairolli.. J.m bayle, tortelli, pichon, vuilleman, pourcel, ferrandis.. All had/have a great style.. I like the style of musquin to.
Pourcel was never faster than Cairoli, won 2006 MX2 thanks to consistency only, h2h he was getting battered. And when Cairoli did ran over his head? Christophe was very talented and certainly up there with Tortelli as arguably the best, fastest frenchman ever.
I honestly dont know a whole lot about him. Its definitely impressive that he won in the dirt and on the street. I think JMB's results are better than Tortelli, but nobody has ever dethroned Stefan Everts and could run down the GOAT (Carmichael). Thats why I believe Tortelli was the fastest frenchman.
Jmb was better, tortelli never won an ama championship, everts should of won in 98, he's lost his silencer in 1 gp and was disqualied, if that hadn't have happened everts would of been 250 champion in 1998, that would of only left tortelli 2 World 125 championships. Fast yes incredibly, but crashed way to much to be the best

@@MrRacer7111 that's not the point of your original comment...with or without Carmichael he had too many injuries and mechanical issues/bad luck. It wouldn't have been an easy walk. Respect to both of them!
I am a big fan of Seb Tortelli. In my book he had the best riding style for a 250 twostroke. Better style than Everts (yes, better style), better style than Carmichael. The thing is Carmichael never throws in the towel (Everts did if you can put him unter pressure.) and Ricky always did what he had to do to win. But Tortelli would have at least won 1 AMA 250 outdoor if not for just blunt bad luck.
After watching some of his crashes. A lot of it seemed to be a technique issue and and bike setup. He was weighting the front of the bike at the worst possible times.

Can't believe I missed this, loved tortelli back in the day
La bonne époque ou quand un pilote gagnait la manche,il nous faisait une petite roue arrière sur la ligne d’arrivée 🏁
Absolutely incredible rider!!! A serious athlete! Very intelligent! Probably one of the best rider of his generation!!!
I loved it when he said racing is life..everything else is just waiting..one of the best!!
Seb is the best rider ! I ll never see that ! I m french, and for me, seb never give up ! So fast rider all of time ! Sorry for my language !

Thanks is a great video.
Much appreciated!
Great story. I love racing and Seb was a racers racer, extraordinary skills.
Is Sebastien Tortelli one of the all time greats of Motocross?
He is not...due many injuries...but he is possibly the fastest rider ever...smoked Everts in his prime...
Definitely rite up there
In my opinion Jean michel Bayle was better
Mickael Pichon wasn't bad too
@@mobidik9397 especially when he went back to Europe.

Amazing rider so fast👌
awesome video!
What am amazing talent !!
1:23 was so smooth. great style
Tort over rode that bike every time. It would be great to see him on a 2021 450!
Need a pourcel highlight vid next!
King!
Great racer! One of the only riders to straight up smoke RC. Carmichael had to get dirty to beat him cause he knew he wasn't faster.

What is ironic is there was a clip of Tortelli blowing by DV, and DV went on to be Ferrandis' trainer.

Bugger me he could beat the Goat 🐐 that's the spirit of MX
Probably should of won 99 national championship. Still an amazing rider
I think ST was the if a couple rider's that could beat RC straight up
Ik zou zo graag weer willen motorcrossen
The 2 dislikes must be Everts and CArmichael 🤣🤣

not really... you can clearly see that he was faster, crashes and mechanical issues had the best of him
