Leonardo da Vinci said "The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions " Plato shared with us wisdom he learnt from Egypt, wisdom that was a death sentence in Greece, Rome (Christianity)..Pythagoras, Socrates and later Hypatia of Alexandria. Plato in his dialogue "The Republic " tells the parable of " The Cave " Plato starts by telling us of prisoners being held in a underground den, let us examine this den via the geometry of Bernhard Riemann and Felix Klein..Klein bottle..3rd and 4th dimensions. Plato tells us that the prisoners are bound up unable to move their heads, let us examine this bondage via the psychology of Erich Fromm..socialisation of consciousness..aware-unaware. Plato tells us that the prisoners mistake shadows for substance, let us examine this mistake via the philosophy of Thales, Hume and Kant..synthetic a priori judgement..not thing in itself. Plato tells us that one of the prisoners is released, let us examine this release via the wisdom of T Lobsang Rampa..stilling the mind and conscious astral travel..leaving the cave/body. Plato tells us that the prisoners will reject this release, let us examine this rejection via the psychology of Stockholm Syndrome..Plato quotes Homer..forgive them for they know not what they say. Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds. Mathew 23 13 31.
could have been a bottle dungeon, or a self dug hermit chamber. The location at a crossroads would suggest convenient means to deliver food to the location, and begs the question of who might feed the inhabitant and why. The bones, could be the captive, or hermit's remains, suggesting he lived and died there and perhaps the cave was filled in as a burial after that. The the piece of brass was probably used to carve the figures (to pass the time, perhaps) over a long period. The drinking vessel, simply for drinking from. There may have been a bed or sleeping platform, and it may even have been there was some kind of unsanitary toilet arrangement down there, (shallow depression) if it was permanently occupied, and certainly if it was a dungeon. Though a shallow depression could be for washing water, or for anointing water, perhaps to perform simple baptisms or christenings, even initiations that required anointing. All the carvings are in the same style, which could mean one person did them. The theme of martyrdom might suggest either incarceration by force, or self imposed. It may even have driven the person to near madness in isolation. Perhaps he had visions caused by isolation and sensory deprivation. Perhaps that was the intention by choice, or otherwise. Perhaps he was a holy man hermit. Perhaps a penitent of some sort, if not a captive. His apparent fixation with religion could suggest a holy man, though could also be a form of pleading to God for release. Perhaps he was imprisoned in the knowledge he would spend the rest of his life there without hope. Or perhaps he vowed with himself or other authority to stay there till death. Whatever happened, someone had to feed him if he was captive, and they had reason to keep him alive. The crude 'fertility symbols' might actually be crude home made pornography, as it would be a lonely existence to say the least... but there are precedents in the Sheila na gig figures and I don't really know what scholars say about such figures or what is known from posterity
Well part of the attraction of Royston cave is the fact that it is still a mystery. So visitors and historians can speculate freely! I have added the main theories to the notes of the video. Thanks for the comment.
Very doubtful Royston cave was ever used as a Templar initiation chamber ... The symbols of the 'Heart on the hand', the Dove, with the effigies of 'Saint Catherine and the wheel', Saint Christopher with his walking stick carrying the child on his shoulder , Saint George with his horse and his sword , are Venerated Saints of the "14 Holy Helpers"... The bell shape of Royston Cave resembling an ancient middle eastern tent , the symbol of the highest degree"Encampment"... All symbols synonymous with the "Order of Odd Fellows"...
I've heard stories about the mysteries of Royston Cave, covering Freemasons and Templar Knights; 6:15 Great story telling 🕵🍄🧙♂ I've always wanted to pay a visit to this mysterious site but thanks to you, I feel I have been now hidden info at the end 13:40 Charge!!!!

This cave looks like a depiction of the knights templars tyranny over the indigenous peoples, and real christian people in the region. Perhaps the hermit who lived here also served as a minister and historian for his congregation. Just my thoughts.
Beautiful 💚
Some of the figures look like Sheela Na Gigs.
Thank you so much & as with all your videos, beautiful pieces of music 🙏🏻
Yes, there is a clear Sheela na gig next to Epona, the Celtic horse god. Thank you very much for the comment and your kind words: very appreciated.
Ancient history coming to life, a message to humans through the carving on the walls.Amazing footage and music.🙏
What a great message! Thanks a lot.
Medieval people aren’t ancient lol these were carved only around 700 years ago
Fascinating and immersive!

I'm interested about the connection you made at 9 minutes. I was taken to your video by the same connection
Thank you for the comment. It’s a reference to the use of psychedelics in pre christian religion.

The cave is very much open to speculation and interpretation: which just reinforces the mystery of the place! Thanks for the comment

Did you know that permission is needed for film of the cave to be used. Can I ask how you obtained this footage please ?
Looks like they got children to make the pictures lol
They do look like crude carvings and definitely not by professional craftsmen
