    eh i dont really consider a game dead if i can find a group of people to play it with and have fun

    • @Gen_EricYT
      @Gen_EricYT  4 месяца назад +3

      that's a good point, as long as the game is fun it doesn't really matter how many people play as long as you can

      @@Gen_EricYT I think a game is considered dead when you can't find a server at any time of day, but group styled games and singleplayer games don't really "die" as unlike multiplayer, they can last pretty much forever.

      @@muufle good point, I think if you’re playing with randoms then some of these games are definitely not in the best of shape. Any multiplayer game is fine as long as you have a group to play with and servers are up

    i think you did not mention the fact that lethal company is not out yet so comparing it to other games like this is unfair as i believe its likely that the replayability will be fixed by the time it leaves beta

  • @Encursed
    @Encursed 4 месяца назад +4

    Yeah you hit the nail on the head. Surface level gameplay is a fun divergence from the norm for a while. I want to mention how social games like among us have a harder time staying alive due to their long term audience issues. Since most of what fosters a community is popularity, and a more popular game brings in a large audience, that large audience includes some toxic people who drive the normal people out of the audience.

    • @Gen_EricYT
      @Gen_EricYT  4 месяца назад +2

      I agree, bad communities, whether cringeworthy or just toxic also drive a lot of people away from the game.

  • @IamRex342

    The fact that a game that isn't even out yet (Lethal) is considered a hype train is crazy to me. I am pretty sure there will be added tons of stuff that will grant replayability like other modes, especially since Zeekers has a lot more budget for his game. So yeah, Lethal isn't dead and I really don't think that it will be.
    Calling a game dead is a biiiiiiig overestimation

    • @Gen_EricYT
      @Gen_EricYT  4 месяца назад

      You’re right on that compared to all the other games it’s in much better shape, I think I over-exaggerated its decline, just cause the player count is much lower doesn’t mean it’s dead. Zeekers has also been really good with updates so it’s doing alright right now

    Almost all of these games i play with my friends stilll and i agree with a lot of these points. I think something that you can add is extensive modding for lethal company as the base game with bigger company is fun but when i played with more maps and different layouts it wasn't fun. Maybe it's just me but enjoy vanilla lethal company with bigger company and more skins.

    • @Gen_EricYT

  • @thismightbeyou

    I think the reason why these viral multiplayer games fade out is when people realize that the best part of the multiplayer game is the multiplayer aspect. Who would of thought that hanging out with your friends makes literally any activity more fun. Most of these games have little substance or mechanical complexity and they just literally 'a thing' in the background as you banter with your friend group. These games are pretty mid when solo unless you're deranged and get to level 100 in Among Us.

    • @Gen_EricYT
      @Gen_EricYT  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah for sure that was the theme I was going for with the games I chose, they're not bad games necessarily but there isn't a whole lot of replayability solo for most games.

    Well put together video. However, I am curious about your opinion. Why does a game have to have a large and continuous playerbase to be consider "alive"? Why can't a game just be played for a period of time? There are many games that I would not play every day, again and again, but are still some of my favorites.

      Appreciate it! I think I over-exaggerated some of these games demises, as long as you can reliably find a server to play on then the game is fine, but some of these games definitely don’t get talked about much anymore. Some of my favorite multiplayer games definitely fell off but they’re still fun to play.

    They teach why in economics class so you don't have to watch a video why. Summary of what I'm talking about is that slow steady growth has a large stable foundation while a quick instant growth is just a very high slide that you're about trip down upon.
