The crowd is fascinating. All are well dressed, well groomed and NOT over weight. Certainly, based on the evidence, we must be "progressing.,". NOT!!!

Tennis has, of course, changed as a game over time, helped along by new racquet technology.
I would much rather watch this gentler version of the game. Because of the slower pace, you get to see the strokes much better. Look how effortless and graceful the players' slice backhand is, as opposed to today's flat slug-fests.
One of the players serves holding three balls! Pro players today only hold one, which I do not understand as turning towards a ballboy after a fault to receive the second ball seems to be a break in flow.

Most players have one in their pocket and only turn back to the ball boy after a let to get a new one. But the tempo of the game today is painfully slow between the points as players constantly towel off, inspect balls and so on, most of them meticulously using all 25 seconds of the serve clock every time before beginning the next point. I wish there was a way to force players to play points at a faster pace like in the old days, but I'm not sure how it could be realistically implemented in the rules at this point.

Fred Perry appears to be wearing street shoes and his trousers are so long and flared it's amazing he didn't trip over.
