However, California will tax income generated from the investment property in the state, regardless of your residency.

Best bet is to find a smaller desert town or small mountain town around.
I got a place for you brother, check out Frazier Park lol. Dirt cheap, an hour north of LA up the grapevine. Might have to deal with a meth head or two but it’s overall not too bad.

My cousin and i had went to Rhode Island, we watched the sun go down, as the moon rose and you could see both in the sky at the same time. And her daughter got to 'catch the moon' for a picture. We listened to the waves, its one of my favorite memories. Rhode Island im sure is pretty peaceful 🙏
That airport analogy is spot on. Boston is a mad-house
As someone who has to commute around providence every day I can say this place is still insanely densely populated and the infrastructure is old as hell. Stoplights everywhere that get backed up more than a half mile at rush hour. It’s not a bad place by any means but if you have to commute it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, like every urban area in this country.
Providence sucks but this state is amazing other than that. The airport is actually in Warwick and if you’re coming from the south it’s super easy to get to and you aren’t going through prov, sadly you do have to pass providence to get to the airport if you’re coming from the north but that’s probably from mass at that point
cough cough Washington Bridge
@@matthewfabianski9312you can bypass using 295 from the north, coming from the east tho.. the bridge traffic will slow you down a bit
Yeah I guess you never drove in LA before? 😂😂😂 an hour to go three miles??
Yeah for real, if you think your traffic is bad, just go to LA for a weekend and then tell me how bad it is. I live outside of Chicago and I went to San Diego a good 18 years ago, way before I could drive, and still vividly remember how awful traffic was *during late morning.* I can't imagine LA during rush hour.
No, California will not claim you as a permanent resident just because you own an investment property there, provided you’ve taken steps to establish Rhode Island as your primary residence.
However, California will tax income generated from the investment property in the state, regardless of your residency.
Second homes are not investment properties.
California sux the life out of your wallet
He did say because he had lived in California for 11 years. California raises taxes again and again, people buy a second home out of state and claim it as primary residence. Cali says uhuh, you are trying to cheat us and you get taxed. Maybe you can beat it in court, but probably will cost you more than just to pay the taxes.
@@TechRevithe hell they ain’t. Even primary homes are generally seen as investments these days. That is a good part of why property prices are so fucked up in the last decade or so
Lol
Connecticut resident here but I stayed in Newport for about a year. Absolutely loved it
Lmao. RI resident here and “why” was my first thought too. If I were famous, I think I’d come here too. In my experience, a lot of famous people aren’t bothered as much as they seem to be in other areas. It’s definitely not as expensive as Cali, but we’re up there. Yeah, great food at both places. Try the Slow Rhode for decent Hot Fried Chicken and the beef tartare at Persimmons (Providence).
Same thing with southern Maine! We have quite a few big names that live up here and have said ultipro times they like it because no one bothers them. They frequent so many local businesses too! ❤
Taylor Swift is there too
I moved from North Providence to OC, SoCal back when I was 15 years old, back in 1999. I miss Stuffies, Clam cakes and Coffee Milk-flavored everything! Oh and trips to Prudence Island 🎉🎉🎉

Love this! Thanks for showing! Taxes in CA/NY/CT are out of control!! Property taxes can be over $20k+ annually in NY/CT. Thats $2k a month!! Solid move, Matt.
In CA its 1.5% of assessed value annually, and there's a write off cap of $10k deducting it from total taxes. Quite horrid.
@@user-ox2xi6kk8o so for a $500,000 that means it’s rough $7.5k a year? Is that good math? Sorry I don’t pay property tax so I’m wondering how it works.
If you live in a blue state either stay there or move to another blue state. If you voted for your local and federal politicians then you got exactly what you voted for.
The average middle class Texan pays the same tax as California. People solely look at income taxes, which is dumb. You pay all sorts of taxes.
CT the second richest state in the country after TX. CT is a nice place though, it’s just extremely expensive but then again majority of CT residents are very wealthy and affluent. It’s a calm slow paced life

Rhode Island is underrated. I live in Massachusetts and have been exploring Rhode Island more the last few years and think it is a great state. Narragansett bay is beautiful with a bunch of nice towns spread throughout, Providence is a good small city, and you are still close to Boston if you need to go there, and New York isn't too far away either.
We were friends with a couple, and she owned a home in RI. Both her BF, my BF, and I live in NH, and we loved visiting and spending time there. I feel lucky that we were able to enjoy RI and sad when they broke up.

Native Floridian but my family is from RI. I moved there for one year and about died in the winter lol. I think the worst part was the inconvenience. LA’s for the food and the weather
Because LA is the west coast version of NYC with a better quality of life than NYC.
Get good food, most museums per capita in the U.S., theater, concerts, festivals, Philharmonic, bars, restaurants, nightlife, etc. Plus theme parks, beaches, mountains, and good weather.
