I saw this in the cinema because of a review, since I've never heard it.mentioned by anyone I know, and it seldom is replayed on TV, its a crime. this is s seriously great film and the acting is supreme.
'There is something Krylovian about you.' Can anyone help out with the Russian? Interesting they did not subtitle it - probably so we could identify with Chance's composed incomprehension
This movie is more relevant than ever. In both frightening and funny ways. It's funny how the lack of depth and analysis on the part of anyone in DC and the MSM and the classic politicians of the Swamp combined with private business with huge amounts of wealth and lobbyists who tend to lose sight of "what made this country great" (blushing, because I used to think stuff like that was so trite, but now that i'm not a Leftist any more, I understand it) and instead just think their own short term plans are all they need....and never having the ability to see things in a different light...*sigh I must see this again. A masterpiece and I'm glad that Peter Sellers ended his career on a film like this and not one of the lesser "Pink Panther" movies....
"But neither in anything else you can't defame. Not angry, not he is grumpy, pay later grumpy'. I doubt whether that is a Krylov's fables. It sounds more like an insurance commercial.
Basehart was an extremely intelligent man and serious actor. Voyage evolved into a farce series that was meant to attract kids. He was a fish out of water in the Voyage. He was one of many superstar Ohioans during the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s. Ohioans dominated tv and the silver screen at the time. I visited Russia / Ukraine 22 times since 2001. He absolutely NAILED this part. Not only the perfect language, but the body gestures and attitude common in Slavic countries. It could not have been performed any better. All of the actors were beyond fabulous, and Melvyn Douglas won an Oscar for it. Sellers should have also won an Oscar. I'd give one to Basehart too, but he only talked for a couple minutes in the movie.
Chauncie, you and I are not so far apart....
Yes.... Our chairs are almost touching.
I didn't even know it was Richard Basehart. Great movie, great acting, everybody nailed it.
Yes... Lead actor from the Irwin Allen Classic....

In the past two years it has seemed more relevant than ever. I saw it in the theater as well, and I was too young to understand how great it was.
"If I see Raphael I will give him your message".
Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Does not apply to this movie. He was silent and thought to be a genius.
Odličan film
obscure, self-replicating apocrypha.
Stan Laurel would have loved it
slight, whimsical doings.

I think you’re right!😆
To this day I wonder what did the Russian ambassador see in Mr Gardner that made him think about Krylov?
His silence.
Ahh. So you DO know your Krilov. I knew it

Зато ни в чём другом нельзя его порочить:
Не зол, не сварлив он, отдать последне рад
If that's what he said I still don't get it. Wait I'll use google translator and get back.

Basehart sounds fluent in Russian. That’s a long way from the bottom of the sea

@@chriswesterfield2042 all true, well said.
Joe Biden.....
Peter Sellers was great. It's amazing they thought of this movie before Biden became a perfect example of how to play the part.
@@waynedavis936 Mall Cop is more Trump's speed, I agree.

see if anyone gets it 😂
Hilarious.
