Hint: sand has a density of 1.5 to 2 tons per m³, while foam generally tops out at less than 200kg/m³. Not sure about the density of kinetic sand or the density of the foam in the video, but it should be similar to those values. The materials have nothing in common except that they consist of many small pieces, and I'm sure a container filled with metal shavings would be better at stopping bullets than one filled with feathers.

Since you apparently didn't bother: a quick google search tells me that kinetic sand still consists of 98% regular sand, and thus has basically the same density. Regardless of density, though, sand in general is very good at stupping bullets because, among other reasons, it's basically a bunch of solid particles. You can easily squish a piece of foam, but I'd like to see you try to squish a grain of sand with your hand. Or, since it's more or less the same thing and to prevent you from saying the small size is the problem: a rock.

Regardless of density, though, sand in general is very good at stupping bullets because, among other reasons, it's basically a bunch of solid particles. You can easily squish a piece of foam, but I'd like to see you try to squish a grain of sand with your hand. Or, since it's more or less the same thing and to prevent you from saying the small size is the problem: a rock.
