i let him know at the show that happened in Toronto! Told him him that he was the best postured and definitely one of the best drummers on the planet by far.! Dude is a monster on the kit! Really cool dude to talk to as well! We were hanging out front of the venue after hanging out with the members from Bleed From Within. Then all of a sudden Matt comes walking out of an alley way and starts chatting with us lmao talked for about an hour or so, then Ali (drummer of bleed from within) comes out of the pub next door to the venue then we all talked for another 40 mins or so! 2 legendary drummers chatting with us in the same night was amazing!
Love Matt beyond words and this is one of the biggest reasons why... dude can be shredding and smiling like a fan who just appreciates what they are hearing.
I wish they would do it like Northlane does (deluxe album).. You can hear more layers without vocals... Although I do love the vocals from both bands 🤘

That bass drum and hi hat lick at the end is one of those things which I won’t be able to unhear now. Seeing as you are watching this video and unlike me a normal person you probably dont like jazz, but a la a drummer jazz music incorporates so much more independence in each limb as far as drummers go. And its anlot lore technically advanced than this so give it a listen and if not sorry for wasting your time.

So my musical taste is pretty broad. Haha. But yeah, the drumming is obviously very different styles of playing from metal to jazz, but I’d say both are equally complex in their own ways. I’ve always appreciated Matt’s performances because he does a great job in injecting influences from different genres of music into his drumming while still playing a modern, fast paced metal style. There’s a lot of complexity to what he does on the drums that I think sometimes goes over some peoples heads. Haha
I've met the band like three times so far and Matt is probably the friendliest guy in the band. I play the drums, although I'm not nearly where he is, but I told him that he's an inspiration for my playing. The whole band is super chill
Just buy some new gear and better quality cymbals. I got sick and tired of playing. Then bought a new snare, a load of new Aax sabian cymbals and now I love it again. It’s probably because I was playing a trash kit for years with cheap gear.
Matt's creativity and fills are next level. It's amazing listening to the song and trying to visualise him playing and then to actually watch it and still be mindblown. Favourite song off that album too.
I'm so happy that you played the whole ending groove of the song out! As soon as I heard it in the recording, as it fades out, I wanted to hear more. I would turn my phone up so the level stayed the same just to hear it. The left footed hi hat 3 over 4 groove (is it 4 over 6? Idk how to count it properly) is absolutely my favorite thing on the album.
