- Custom slip floats, where to get'em and how I make'em. Custom floats have been the #1 item on my online tackle shop every since they launched in 2014. Orders usually trickle in January, early February. By march I'm usually flooded.
Many people think these are only for catfish, but it is a multi species fishing float. I've caught caught minnows with these. The custom slip float doesn't know what it's catching. All it does is telegraph what's happening with the line below the water.
Most things are mass produced these days, but these are custom slip bobbers, custom slip floats.
Slip bobber fishing for catfish is how I learned to catfish, the chum and cheese bait method. It works, and it's a finesse approach.
Slip cork fishing for catfish is an easy way to get into catfishing on light tackle. I don't know why so many catmen use such heavy tackle for a relatively small fish compared to what people are doing on fly rod or open ocean fishing.
Slip float fishing for catfish is fun, and you can catch as many fish as you want working only two or three spots. I hope to bring more video like this over the summer, as more people ask about my custom slip floats.

Damon, have you thought about making an ultra light wiggler with a smaller float diameter? You are right. If you love what you are doing, you will put your soul into it and it will be a better product.
Yeah, I have made one out of a pure stick of balsa wood. It was basically like the rachis/stem of a turkey feather. It worked pretty well. I also have a bunch of cedar my dad left me. Since I have that lathe, I've meant to make one piece smaller diameter floats out of cedar.
Keep doing you! I love that you are so personal and you take pride in what you do. At 47, I too have decided to quit my day job and work for myself doing things the right way all the while taking time. People want a good product will pay for it if it is truly what they want. A lot of people complain about things made from other countries in the USA, but I see they don't want to pay for the USA price. They still expect things like that new commercial I am so sick of, I want it all and I want it NOW types all the while expecting a great product for the cheapest price. Anything that is truly hand made takes time. Obviously people creating hand made items LOVE what they do. Much respect to you. Because I watched your video all the way through, I am going to pass your link to everyone that I know that fishes. Keep up the good work, be true to yourself and things will pay off.

@@BlackWarriorLures Couple questions I thought about while watching today's (2/8/2019) video, have you ever used slip floats cast from a hand line reel and what is smallest weight line that could be used with the slip floats on conventional rod and reel?
@@rbishop12399 Yes, I've used these floats with my handline reels. I've used 2 and 4 lbs line with the floats all the way up o 20 lbs line, and the eyelet is big enough to run 100 lbs line through. The float doesn't know what it's attached to. The handline reel or rod and reel is just a line management & delivery system. Line management and delivery is independent of the floats themselves.

I feel you Sir. For me, pride in my work is everything ! Over here in the UK my average size of float is between 6 to 8 inches taking a maximum of 3 to 4 triple A shot. They really are some big *ss floats. Are they for salt water or big fresh water fish ? ✌❤ Bob.
Yes! These are catfish floats: big, crude and nothing fancy.
