Phuket change so much! After 20 years we leaved!
I have been visiting Patong spending 4 to 6 weeks there for 23 years. I'm starting to wonder if I want to return. I hate saying this because I know it's a generalization but it seems since a large number of Russians have showed up the friendly welcoming fun atmosphere has degraded. I can't help but notice their disregard for Thai people and other Asians which leads to uncomfortable situations.
You are absolutely right about the behavior of the Russians here. They imagine that locals are their servants who fulfill their every wish. Very disrespectful behavior in a country where respect is still very important. I live in Pattaya myself, fortunately things are not as bad here as in Phuket. There are of course many Russians here too, but they keep a pretty low profile and don't like to make a fuss about themselves. I personally believe that a large number of them would probably end up on the Ukrainian front if they had to return to Russia
Russians definitely, in general, have an "attitude." Yes, some other foreigners may, too, from time to time, but it is REALLY noticeable and conspicuous in the Russians as a general rule.

My (Thai) wife suggested to go on holiday in Phuket, but I try to convince her not to go there... I don't want to be associated with the tourists there...
