Charlie, Thank you so much for your friendship as well of course for picking up, testing and transporting the Pengo over nearly 1,000 miles! I really, truly appreciate it! Also, it was a treat to ride along virtually.
MatsuSHITa. Yeah, I had to bend the new flyback pins like the letter Z to get them to align in the holes. You might have a newer/different version than I used. Nothing about the MatsuSHITa is easy. It’s also terribly easy to crack the PCB on them. Turn up the screen pot to see if you get raster. I want that ‘93 Cobra in the hot rod garage.
No raster at all, even with both the screen pot and the brightness pot cranked up. I’m guessing either a bad flyback or a pernicious cracked trace/cold solder. Fun.
Yeah. I heard you mention that at the end of the video. I’d try to get one from Peter so you can at least rule out if that one’s a dud or not. You take your chances with the eBay stuff. Could also be any number of components that got taken out when that flyback arced, like most other chassis.’ You can almost never just replace an arcing flyback and have it work without something else having been damaged.
@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair I know, I always try to order from Peter whenever possible, but he’s been out of this one for a while and I haven’t heard about another batch coming. I think I’ll stick this monitor on the shelf until either I’m super bored or Peter has more repro flybacks in stock. 😅
Thanks, Sean -- that would be amazing! Could you send me a PM on KLOV or an email at the address in my channel About page to work out the details? YOU ROCK!!
Thanks, bro… you’re making me tear up over here! 🥹 By the way, I’m winding down for the night by rewatching your XM-501 repair videos, as I’ve got one of my own to work on soon…

It was my pleasure, Russell! What a fun experience, especially coupled with the opportunity to help a friend!

Ah. Dang.
Charlie, I have a few extra Matsushita chassis laying around. probably have good flybacks. I can send you a chassis if you want.

Great vid! Love the Hot Rod arcade tour!
I was great hanging out with Chris Royalty for a bit -- a lot more fun than a fiery flyback!
Flames in the intro will get you a thumbs up before even watching the video... 👾💥🔥
Feel free to jump ahead to 15 seconds into the video if you don't want to watch the build-up... 🤣
@@overtimearcadeI'm considering the intro as the bit before the Overtime Arcade music :) Boomshakalaka! He's on Fire!!!
@slinger2112 IS IT THE SHOES?! No, wait… it’s the flyback.
Did you get this monitor from Oregon perhaps? lol
LOL no, this came from that abandoned mall in Cincinnati!
❤

Sean's the best... THE BEST!
I said "Ampliflame" when I saw the title of the video and was mistaken.
I don’t think my heart could bear that…
