OMG, I am so glad I found your channel. I was just gifted some milk paint from Michaels. It's a small jar from their craft section and I had no clue how to mix it. This tutorial is great. I also will be painting a piece of board so it was good to see how it might look. Muriel
I painted a beautiful piece with Typewriter (black) it turned out absolutely gorgeous and the paint is nice to work with. However, I sanded between coats because it felt rough and that left me with tiny white spots on my piece. How do I avoid this in the future? Thanks I’m advance!
That can sometimes happen when the limestone isn't completely mixed up. Make sure the paint is throughly mixed and you can strain lumps out with a cheesecloth or use a mechanical mixer like a milk frother or immersion blender just used for paint.
I made the mistake of using really warm water when mixing my paint, lol.... so I painted with a thick paint soup which when it sat for a while became a beautiful Eulalie's Sky cake... :)
That's the price of helping a small cottage industry staying afloat amidst the corporate behemoths. You could of course make your own; the ingredients are simple and this was in fact what was done years ago.
no kidding. this could have been done in 3 minutes tops, and really a video wasn't even necessary to go over the instructions, which are, basically, this: mix half and half
So helpful! Thank you for everything and happy painting!!!!

Fantastic video, really informative... Can't wait to try it...
Interesting video. How do you store this paint if I don't use all of it?

Is Miss Mustard Seed the manufacturer of Shackteau Interiors milk paint? I thought I read that somewhere. Why does she put her name on your paint?
No, Miss Mustard Seed is not affiliated with Shackteau Interiors.
Wait, one bag makes 1 Quart of paint? 29.99 for a Quart of paint?
