I think people don't realize that gaining fans and keeping them are very different. I did gain interest in Kep1er because I'm MOA and was curious about Kai's sister. However, I stayed because I liked their songs because I liked HER (from the little we've seen). I generally keep more distance when it comes to temporary groups but I will support them.
Same! I heard she would be on the show and then everybody was mad about it so I was like “she must be really untalented for people to be this mad”. I watched her first fancam to investigate and she’s stable vocally and dance wise, supportive to all contestants and so stunning visually! If anything the hate sort of propelled me to see what was happening but I stayed because she really is a talented young lady

There’s entire OT8 threads all on Twitter, Reddit, etc. where people join just to bash her or photoshop her in ugly and mean ways, and talk crap about her and spread malicious rumors. As a kpop stan since Shinee and SNSD, I’ve almost never seen anything like this and I’m just utterly confused why people hate her so much for no reason.

When Dayeon did the bare minimum and some questionable things , the judges praised her like she was the Messiah or something. But they pretend the others don't exist. Bahiyyih is being treated extremely unfair as compared to the the other members. I too, thought that they didn't want to show favoritism towards her because of her siblings but this goes far beyond that! MNET def didn't want Hiyyih to debut, which naturally means giving her less screen time. They definitely planned her to be the reason why they should watch the show at the first place, but it backfired throughout the show. Because of this they tried harder to push her out of the picture so that the people would just magically forget her and vote for someone else while still maintaining to give her the smallest amount of screen time just for her fans to be assured.

Honestly, I think she got scouted because of her talent but I definitely know that being kia’s sister played a role in it. Yes, being his sister is sort of a blessing in a way and it also benefits her team tremendously (more recognition, more support) But their will always be haters when there are supporters- honestly I think it’s very wrong for people to blame her? Call me crazy, but if it had been the other way around (a very famous female idol having a younger brother who just debuted), people would react differently. There are other brothers or relatives in the industry but they weren't as hated as her. And also the company doesn't give her screentime or lines is freaking unfair.

I wasn’t really into kpop like i’m now but we all can see that the show producers made it worse. Okay you wanted attention and clout but talking about her already famous brother was really not necessary. And she won. It may seem like she won because of being from a family with 2 kpop idols. Regarding the judges "not praising" Hiyih, it's sad that she's not the only one to receive such treatment. Much like her, there's a ton of trainees who did really well be it in dance or vocals yet not much attention was given by the judges... or at least that's how it seem. I want to believe that the judges DID praise her (as I'm pretty sure that they are evaluated as a whole and are then given individual feedback) but MNet CHOSE NOT TO SHOW ANY OF THAT. It's upsetting watching GP999 and even during the recently concluded Queendom 2 and seeing MNet continuously trying to erase her presence. Isn't it weird that some girls were praised by the judges for the sake of positive reinforcement only and this was aired, yet Hiyih who did fairly well did not get any feedback (aired)? I really hope the "behind the scenes" praises she got helped her out a lot. She does not deserve any of the hate she's getting.

She's my bias. She is so talented. She has worked so hard & she DID deserve the votes! It doesn't make sense why they say she didn't be part of the show - if she didn't deserve to be part of the show -> then neither did girls like Yujin, who had already been in other groups, or girls who had an advantage from being known from other shows. She literally trained herself & got up to & above the level of many of tge other girls. That deserves praise. Her fancams are ALWAYS the most watched. It would only make sense financially to say "oh, look how popular she is, she should be given more lines & screen time & the fans will watch even more & spend even more money!" It doesn't make any sense. She placed SECOND! That deserves attention. Totally agree, every year in produce there are members like Yujin with unfair advantages and members that end up debuting despite not being trained/ having amazing skills like Kim Sohee, Lai Guanlin and Kang Hyewon. People need to stop acting like Bahiyyih and her having a famous brother is so different from other unfair advantages like being in a big label etc.

There are siblings in kpop yet she gets hate for “trying to have an advantage”, when there were participants with previous fanbases, well known and years as trainees. She’s the youngest sibling to have idol experience, music is well integrated in her family. Also no surprise that as a girl it’s double the hate. And rarely gets line, screen time, center roles, it’s just sad. Ppl have said multiple times of how nice of a heart she has, not to mention she probs looked up to her brother and was motivated by him only to get the short end of the stick. People do legitimately also hate her for being mixed. (Little story: I was an ARMY when TXT debuted, and Kai also got both hate and got sexualized as a minor for being mixed even before he debuted. It was disgusting)

okay, if i'm being honest, at first i was one of those people who thought bahiyyih was really just getting carried by her brother's fame. and holy crap, i was so, so wrong. there probably were some voters just voting her because of her brother, but as i watched the show more, i started to realize how unique she was. nobody can deny that she has such an interesting, unique visual. i researched a little further and began to seriously appreciate her talent, especially after learning that she had no formal training before joining the show. she really is a hard worker and gives it her all. her dancing and singing skills have improved so much since the start of the show, and i'm proud of her! but the mistreatment she gets is not even understandable. i remember watching a video sometime back of her fancam for a performance (it might've been queendom 2 or something, i'm more of a casual listener to kep1er and only know the members because i watched the show, i'm not a stan). for over half of the performance she was literally just STANDING THERE. and you could totally see how uncomfortable she was. it doesn't matter how much hate she gets. she is a part of the group. and as a part of the group, she deserves to be treated as part of the group, especially because she's so unproblematic and cooperative, she has no scandals. even with the hate she gets she keeps smiling and gets through. she needs more lines, screen time, and recognition. i hope she knows that despite the hate, there are many people standing with her and supporting her! i hope this comeback gives her the recognition she deserves. #justiceforbahiyyih

In regards to gp999, we have NO idea what the actual comments for the constants are the judges remarks were super edited. It was even addressed during and after the show. Yes, B didn't get much screentime on the show, but snakenet knew she was getting the votes and didn't feel she needed more attentions for more votes (not saying that's right just observation).
Bahiyyih is my bias in Kep1er even though I started watching Girls Planet 999 for Yujin as a CLC stan. She works so hard and is so talented and has gotten to where she is because of her genuine passion for music. The reasons people hate her are so stupid and baseless when in reality, she is such a kind person and is always so supportive of her members, as shown in the little screen time she gets. One thing people never talk about in Korean culture is how strong their jealousy culture is and strongly they act on it. She is a perfect example of it. She can’t help who her brother is.
I normally like your content and I think everyone has enough problems in this world so no one should hate on someone else. At the same time, I thought this was pretty one-sided. For example, you mentioned that she probably didn't put Kai's Sister on her application (agreed), but given that having a two-syllable surname is relatively uncommon in SK and hers is the same as someone well-known in the same industry, it's unlikely that the producers didn't put two-and-two together especially when contestants probably had to submit a video audition for pre-screening. It isn't spiteful to be unhappy that someone jumped from a position outside of the debut group to second place when their performance wasn't as good as several contestants who consistently showed exemplary skill and ranked high accordingly. (Personally, every temp group I've seen has had at least one member who got there for reasons other than their talent like looks, charm or cuteness--it's one of the reasons I generally don't follow project groups). Chaehyun isn't getting the most lines because she ranked first, but rather her vocal talent reflects what one would expect of a long-time SM trainee (she has about 6 years training in total). It makes sense that someone who had significantly less training would get less lines than someone who's experienced and well-trained. Dismissing people with legitimate frustration may make people who weren't hating on her start and those that were already hating on her may double down. I think your purpose would have been better served by briefly covering why some people were unhappy, that it doesn't justify hate, that the group has debuted so it can't be changed, and then spend most of the video guiding people to focus on how she's improved both over the course of the show and since becoming a part of Kep1er, as well as demonstrating how her personality is good for the team.
I don't like the idea that idol should be all perfect before they debut . Its okay to have some flaws which they can easily be worked on as the time passes by and they gain more experience .

I think people don't realize that gaining fans and keeping them are very different. I did gain interest in Kep1er because I'm MOA and was curious about Kai's sister. However, I stayed because I liked their songs because I liked HER (from the little we've seen). I generally keep more distance when it comes to temporary groups but I will support them.

MNET def didn't want Hiyyih to debut, which naturally means giving her less screen time. They definitely planned her to be the reason why they should watch the show at the first place, but it backfired throughout the show. Because of this they tried harder to push her out of the picture so that the people would just magically forget her and vote for someone else while still maintaining to give her the smallest amount of screen time just for her fans to be assured.

Call me crazy, but if it had been the other way around (a very famous female idol having a younger brother who just debuted), people would react differently. There are other brothers or relatives in the industry but they weren't as hated as her. And also the company doesn't give her screentime or lines is freaking unfair.

I wasn’t really into kpop like i’m now but we all can see that the show producers made it worse. Regarding the judges "not praising" Hiyih, it's sad that she's not the only one to receive such treatment. Much like her, there's a ton of trainees who did really well be it in dance or vocals yet not much attention was given by the judges... or at least that's how it seem. I want to believe that the judges DID praise her (as I'm pretty sure that they are evaluated as a whole and are then given individual feedback) but MNet CHOSE NOT TO SHOW ANY OF THAT. It's upsetting watching GP999 and even during the recently concluded Queendom 2 and seeing MNet continuously trying to erase her presence. Isn't it weird that some girls were praised by the judges for the sake of positive reinforcement only and this was aired, yet Hiyih who did fairly well did not get any feedback (aired)? I really hope the "behind the scenes" praises she got helped her out a lot. She does not deserve any of the hate she's getting.

Totally agree, every year in produce there are members like Yujin with unfair advantages and members that end up debuting despite not being trained/ having amazing skills like Kim Sohee, Lai Guanlin and Kang Hyewon. There are siblings in kpop yet she gets hate for “trying to have an advantage”, when there were participants with previous fanbases, well known and years as trainees. She’s the youngest sibling to have idol experience, music is well integrated in her family. Also no surprise that as a girl it’s double the hate. Ppl have said multiple times of how nice of a heart she has, not to mention she probs looked up to her brother and was motivated by him only to get the short end of the stick. i understand that people were mad that their picks who were “more deserving” in their opinion didn’t get in and bahiyyih did, but the hate is so unnecessary! it’s not her fault she’s kai’s sister, it’s not her fault she’s popular, it’s not her fault she got into kep1er. calling her names are horrible and the number of times i have seen people saying she looks like a horse is insane. this poor girl is living her dream but is being hated daily and being mistreated by her company. people should stop being sour and realise that they don’t even know her personally and should not hate on her since she’s done nothing wrong.

okay, if i'm being honest, at first i was one of those people who thought bahiyyih was really just getting carried by her brother's fame. and holy crap, i was so, so wrong.
there probably were some voters just voting her because of her brother, but as i watched the show more, i started to realize how unique she was. nobody can deny that she has such an interesting, unique visual. i researched a little further and began to seriously appreciate her talent, especially after learning that she had no formal training before joining the show. she really is a hard worker and gives it her all. her dancing and singing skills have improved so much since the start of the show, and i'm proud of her!
but the mistreatment she gets is not even understandable. i remember watching a video sometime back of her fancam for a performance (it might've been queendom 2 or something, i'm more of a casual listener to kep1er and only know the members because i watched the show, i'm not a stan). for over half of the performance she was literally just STANDING THERE. and you could totally see how uncomfortable she was. it doesn't matter how much hate she gets. she is a part of the group. and as a part of the group, she deserves to be treated as part of the group, especially because she's so unproblematic and cooperative, she has no scandals. even with the hate she gets she keeps smiling and gets through. she needs more lines, screen time, and recognition. i hope she knows that despite the hate, there are many people standing with her and supporting her! i hope this comeback gives her the recognition she deserves.

Hiyyih ended in second place, placing 1st in more than 100 countries, debuting with adlibs instead of real lines, and she still is one of the most supported girls from kep1er. Is this all because of her brother? For what I have read (I'm not into txt), Kai also gets a lot of hate, so how is it that she could get even more praise than her brother because of her brother?
Probably the reason why no one talks about other contestants has to do with how Mnet promoted and portrayed them, how even Reina which was one of the best vocalists in the contest didn't even end in the 3rd round or how caibing was evil-edited until she was eliminated.
Said all of this, Bahiyyih might have gained attention AT FIRST because of her brother, but she conquered her fans' hearts because of who she is: her talents, her personality and how she is capable of shining even without having much.

In regards to gp999, we have NO idea what the actual comments for the constants are the judges remarks were super edited. It was even addressed during and after the show. Yes, B didn't get much screentime on the show, but snakenet knew she was getting the votes and didn't feel she needed more attentions for more votes (not saying that's right just observation).

Bahiyyih is my bias in Kep1er even though I started watching Girls Planet 999 for Yujin as a CLC stan. She works so hard and is so talented and has gotten to where she is because of her genuine passion for music. The reasons people hate her are so stupid and baseless when in reality, she is such a kind person and is always so supportive of her members, as shown in the little screen time she gets. She deserves more recognition in their comeback, otherwise what was the point of MNET allowing her into the group (in spot 2, even) rather than just manipulating votes per usual?

Honestly, I would have broke under all of that pressure and hate. Most of the interviews I watch they are ALWAYS asking about their siblings on both sides. Like yes, we get it. They are siblings. Time to focus on who they are. I always hate when anyone in a group barely gets to sing. Why have such a big group then? Everyone should have at least near equal share in lines and screen time. I can’t believe how people treat her. She was one of the most popular and only gets 3 seconds of screen time. She’s very charismatic and she just stands out. Before gp999 when they were doing those funny skits I thought this girl was so funny and cute I can’t wait to see her on the show. One thing people never talk about in Korean culture is how strong their jealousy culture is and strongly they act on it. She is a perfect example of it. She can’t help who her brother is.
I normally like your content and I think everyone has enough problems in this world so no one should hate on someone else. At the same time, I thought this was pretty one-sided. For example, you mentioned that she probably didn't put Kai's Sister on her application (agreed), but given that having a two-syllable surname is relatively uncommon in SK and hers is the same as someone well-known in the same industry, it's unlikely that the producers didn't put two-and-two together especially when contestants probably had to submit a video audition for pre-screening. It isn't spiteful to be unhappy that someone jumped from a position outside of the debut group to second place when their performance wasn't as good as several contestants who consistently showed exemplary skill and ranked high accordingly. (Personally, every temp group I've seen has had at least one member who got there for reasons other than their talent like looks, charm or cuteness--it's one of the reasons I generally don't follow project groups). Chaehyun isn't getting the most lines because she ranked first, but rather her vocal talent reflects what one would expect of a long-time SM trainee (she has about 6 years training in total). It makes sense that someone who had significantly less training would get less lines than someone who's experienced and well-trained. Dismissing people with legitimate frustration may make people who weren't hating on her start and those that were already hating on her may double down. I think your purpose would have been better served by briefly covering why some people were unhappy, that it doesn't justify hate, that the group has debuted so it can't be changed, and then spend most of the video guiding people to focus on how she's improved both over the course of the show and since becoming a part of Kep1er, as well as demonstrating how her personality is good for the team.
