"Lucidity," an original poem

- Hey hey! Most of you may know me as a songwriter, but did you know that many of my songs started out as poems? Where songs can be beautiful, poetry can be brutal, and by that, I mean brutally honest.
This is "Lucidity," and I wrote it as a young thing who was tired of everyone around me making strange and unaligned decisions simply on the basis of being in 'love'... an invisible force that I had never felt... and was beginning to wonder if I ever would.
Perhaps life would be better off that way, I rationalised.
Yes, I could be more sensible that way if I wasn't pulled about by the whims of inconvenient emotions. At least, these are the sort of thoughts that make the loneliness easier to bear.
And writing songs and poetry? It turns 'nothing' and 'emptiness' into 'something'... a 'something' that later leads to connection.
We're not as alone as we think we are. Trust me, whatever you're going through... there's a poem about it somewhere. Or maybe that poem is inside of you, just waiting to be expressed.

Wow, beautiful! I even got goosebumps on some parts. I always wondered how it is on the other side because as long as I've known myself, I've always been in love (and been making bad decisions lol). Everyone starts differently, learns differently, and that is so magical. I wonder what lessons did you get with being and living this way. 🦋 For me, the biggest lesson was, is and will be - how to get back to myself & how to connect with others while being present, grounded and wise.
@daniemotioninsound Yes, in the absence of love, I think learning how to connect with people on other levels is really important. We always have choices, we can either rage that our life doesn't look the way we expect it to and doesn't look the way other people's lives do, or we can treat everything in life as a gift and an opportunity... including solitude and singleness.
I agree that getting to know oneself is such a vital aspect of the path. Many people struggle with their own company, so much so that solitude is very difficult to bear. I tend to love solitude and find the magic in it, and I wrote a poem about that, too. I think I'll share that one next. 😁 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience! ❤️🌻
