Hollywood films a lot in Long Beach, CA. I was at a shoot and I found out that the drivers of the cars are not stunt drivers. They are precision drivers. A different category in the movie world. Trained to drive at the exact speed and pace that is needed for the shoot and do it over and over again, thus why they are backing up the road to reset for a new angle of the same shot. That keeps them in the exact same position each time. Really cool.
Michael Leuff You could be correct. I'm just saying what they told me when I was on a set once. He said it was something about the pay scale. The stunt drivers got way more than the precision drivers. Driving a car in a chase took way more skill and talent than "just" driving down the street.
it may only be a block or two of city streets, but just seeing a few glorious surreal seconds of a meticulously constructed set like this, where the real pros are given free reign and creative control to build a credible lived-in world, gives me goosebumps. this is why i love a well-made period piece, and why i love film more than any other art form.
Thanks so much for posting this. I was but a small child, but this really brings me back. What a great job the crew did on this. And your videographic skills with a potato are legendary!
Leo’s first movie since Oscar win is a Tarantino movie that’s set in the 60 s with brad Pitt Margot Robbie and al Pacino I can’t wrap my head around that still I feel like I havnt seen a movie I was excited for since Django wolf of Wall Street and hateful eight This is gonna be another cinematic landmark I had a tear going down my eye thinking about all the crazy amazing possibilities this movie can go in whatever I think it is with Tarantino at the helm is gonna blow any idea I had outta the water times a million thank you movie gods
I hope the whole movie has this filter and look, because it looks authentic. I hate movies, that take place in the 60s 70s etc. and are presented in crisp clean HD without the look of the time. So much money goes into costumes, music, setpieces etc. and at the end it almost never loooks like the era it supposed to represent.
This is gonna be sick. I can’t wait. Tarantino will make another masterpiece. Tarantino’s 70s Trippy shit is gonna be interesting to see. OUATIH, Lets go!!!!

Cyber-Funk I don't want to specifically post a link to the script but here is a video telling where you can find the script. ruclips.net/video/oHg5SJYRHA0/видео.html
probably a stupid question but how do the businesses on that street still work whilst its being filmed ? are there company logos just covered up and a temporary retro one cladded over the top and they trade as usual or do they just shut down for a few days or something whilst the sets are being used .....like I say probs a silly question but im just curious , also it looks incredible and kinda wished id lived back in them days ......this movie is gonna be great
I live in Hollywood. The shops are paid for the days they are closed for filming. The facades of the buildings were stripped and changed to look like 1969 for weeks, but actual outside filming on the boulevard only took place over two days. All shops and restaurants were open normally on other days. The only acceptation was the restaurant Musso & Frank Grill which had scenes filmed inside for 4 days. Funnily enough, Musso's facade wasn't changed at all because it still looks exactly the same as it did in 1969.

Forget Avengers Infinity Wars Part 2 or the next Star Wars movie. This is my new number one film I wanna see.
Asa King Yeah same with me
The other movies you just mentioned don't even deserve to be mentioned among Tarantinos movies!
Originals>Remakes

The guy @ 1:50 walking by on the smartphone complete ruined the authenticity.
Looks like a digital screen in the firebox too at 1:54
WHEN CAR DESIGNERS DIDN'T MIMIC WHAT EVERY ONE ELSE WAS DOING.
nah, the cars all looked very similar, they just had better paint jobs, more colourful.
This is gonna be sick. I can’t wait.
Tarantino will make another masterpiece. Tarantino’s 70s Trippy shit is gonna be interesting to see. OUATIH, Lets go!!!!

Horizontally with a potato beats vertically with the latest gen iPhone
1:49-Guy with a smart phone in 1969. Time traveler?
I read the script, it's amazing 👌
How did you get to read the script?
Is this bullshit or are you for real? If it leaked somewhere I'd love to read it.
Cyber-Funk I don't want to specifically post a link to the script but here is a video telling where you can find the script. ruclips.net/video/oHg5SJYRHA0/видео.html
Knew it haha
no you didn't. and even if you did, no one gives a shit.
I feel the soundtrack is going to be amazing already and it’s probably going to mix so well with sexual aspects of the film if there is
The true difference between 1969 and now? People walked with their heads up, not down in their phones.
It's gonna be amazing, I have a theory that Kurt Russel will play Charles Manson
Very believable
Braden Pettigrew HELL YEAH ... THAT LOOK
He’s old as hell though, I think Timothy Olyphant is playing him
Damon Herriman is playing Charles Manson.

omg just to set up this whole street prolly cost about a million
Who is the lady @2:06 flipping off the camera? Maybe the store's attire is not up to her liking?
I respect the art of film making. I wouldn't even go down there. Let them film in peace. This planet is big ads fuck. Go somewhere else.
I wonder if they killed the palm trees for this scene.... till the 80s there were no palm trees on Hollywood Blvd but simple trees....
Cool. But, why everything is Perfect clean.
Vintage
Sushi in 1969? 0:40 Lol.
Yes! Big Apple Cigarettes.
Жду больше всего на свете
How long is the set gonna be there?

how did you get that 60's effect with your camera?
what effect? There was no effect, its a video straight from the phone camera.
138975430514367686980893643 the effect is called set design lmao

Neat except for Kia at :50.

The authentic atmosphere was ruined by people using smart-phones. So so SO SO SO so so so and SO sad.
good video to do a before and after..... i remember when it was like this and not like a 3rd world nation...
Yeah okay that's great and all but what kind of potato!
I can't tell if he literally meant a potato, like hiding a camera in one, or if he meant it as joke.
Where is it in LA ?
Arthur G. Hollywood walk
Ruined by the people using cellphones.

Thought it was cool until I realized it glorified Charles Manson. Sick. Sick. Sick
themou2008 Obviously not a Fan of Tarantino Then and it shows 😂...And It isnt directly based on Charles Manson, Loosely incorporates the Manson Family
