Nice video! Wish the Slicks had been painted with the the appropriate livery & crewed for the time period...usually the slicks did the insertions, with a H in a Gunship configuration & a Snake sometimes flying top cover...
I was an instructor in the UH-1D/H for half of my Army career, and the sweet spot for the iconic popping sounds the MR made was at 70 kts, 200-300 ft/min rate of decent. Then imagine 10-15 aircraft approaching an LZ at once. That sound got the “crunchies” (ground troops) hearts pounding
My son in law and me must have been sitting just a few feet away from you. It was a great air show and I never get tired of hearing a turbine spool up.
I'm sorry about the audio and not being able to hear the helicopters. Some pesky piston-powered warbirds were getting ready for the next act and had taxied into position right in front of me. Next year I'll find a better spot. I love the sound of these helicopters!
@@michaelcorbeil9719 not rude at all, it's just how it works. I was near the hot ramp where everything starts up, so once they all started up they were right by me. It's still way better than being near the speakers.
None are still in active deployment service however there are still a few operational UH1 at fort Polk used for JRTC as OPFOR aircraft I think 🤔 at least there was a few years ago because we have potential enemies still have some variants in service
Back around 1988 - 1995, I remember seeing an advertisement in _"TRADE-A-PLANE"_ {or something similar} for a restored Bell AH-1 Cobra. Price: $5,000,000.00 {5 million USD}. If I had not been $4,999,999.99 short at the time, I would have purchased it...🤭
I just love that sound of the Huey. Very familiar from movies, games and of course from the real world when they were used quite prominently as rescue choppas in Germany.
@fight2flyphoto >>> Maybe it is just a camera _parallax_ issue or something, but in the first part of the video it looks like the UH-1 closest to the camera has more of an 'angle' built into the main rotor mast than the other UH-1.
Thank you! I certainly wouldn't mind that, but I am already pretty spoiled in that I get to ride in a kick-ass SAR UH-1H Plus 703 any time I want. I have some videos of it in my channel.

There are still many AH-1F's out there. I think Pakistan operates them. G models are likely museum pieces at this point (possibly flying museums but don't know).
But what red blooded American patriot doesn't love the sound of a flying Huey? The raw power of that engine and those blades creating that iconic WHOP!WHOP!WHOP! as it chugs across the sky?
Algerian stupide service boring me for giving them concept better than Chinese balloon, I mean stealthy shuttle so you you should convince them by little drones for let me in peace

aass
Takes me back to when I was a young man. I crewed a UH-1H in South Korea. Loved that machine.
I think the two Huey's are slicks. Number 1 is an Alpha Model, and the other an H.
Couldn't you just imagine an entire armada of Hueys coming across the show field? That would have been epic! I LOVE the Huey!
The Huey cobra pilot have absolute control that helicopter. Amazing the way he was able to stop on a dime in mid-air.
Nice to see that Cobra pulling some G's and not just idling around the sky! :)

*I ❤️ GAS TURBINE ENGINES* 👍👍
I miss working and flying on them !
Flew in many Hueys with the 9th Inf Div. Octofoil
Never forget that sound.
That Huey sound is unmistakable just like a C5 galaxy
We used to call the Cobra RTT's "Coordination Maneuvers" :)

I think that it is rude for the people who put on this display to tell the pilots of the Warbirds to start the planes

Sounded like B-25 Mitchells.Nothing wrong w/their roar.

Thanks for sharing this with me because it brings out the stories that my pass Uncle flew who flew them all as a Medivac Helio pilot. Army Aviation
It's a nice, beautiful and fantastic flight!

UH-1 Huey all time military helicopter everywhere where I lived Austin San Antonio I mostly saw the cobras in Austin

Seems such a waste to have the Cobra go up, with an empty seat.....
Gold... I hope they take you left seat one day... 1 cam on instruments and the other out front. To hear the Tic Tic Tic, watch her come to life... .

Great footage! I think the huey and cobra make good pair, i subscribed😎
How much faster was the cobra compared to a slick ?
A slick just over 150 mph depending on the model . A Cobra over 170 mph. Apparently the Cobra could exceed 200 mph in a shallow dive.
Look the differant old version and new one
Wow impressive!!

Sounds like a Mitchell taking off at the beginning.
Hueys without CCR "Fortunate Son" ?

The Vietnamese always said they sounded like tractors, every once in a while I'll hear one and it takes me back.
The Cobra also has the "thump".

Well it’s not Usually an (HH-1K) it’s usually mostly called (Bell XH-40)
Only in the commercial capacity would it be called the Bell anything. The Navy would use the government designated variant of H-1.
