Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s initiative on a Russian-Ukrainian ceasefire makes no sense, and is nothing but an attempt to draw media attention, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, said. "From the point of view of war and peace, it [the initiative] makes no sense. However, it makes sense in the information space, because it will allow Orban to be quoted [by the media]," Podolyak said. "He wants to play the role of a man who can resolve something, to make comments on something." The Ukrainian official claimed that the proposed ceasefire would play into the hands of Russia. Earlier, Orban said that Hungary had suggested Ukraine establish a Christmas ceasefire and exchange prisoners with Russia, but the initiative was rejected by Vladimir Zelensky. The prime minister did not specify how the peace proposal was sent to Zelensky and, accordingly, how the response was received. On Wednesday, Orban had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of the main topics of their conversation was the ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. After the conversation, the Hungarian government confirmed that Orban will continue his peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. On Monday, the prime minister discussed the issue during a visit to US President-elect Donald Trump at his estate in Florida, and earlier at the Vatican during a meeting with Pope Francis.

Russia will retaliate to Ukraine’s ATACMS missile attack on the Taganrog military airfield, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. The Kiev regime delivered a strike by six US-made ATACMS long-range ballistic missiles at the military airfield in Taganrog in southern Russia on the morning of December 11. Two of the missiles were shot down by a Pantsyr air defense system while the others were deflected by electronic warfare systems, the ministry said. "This attack by Western long-range weapons won’t be left unanswered and corresponding measures will be taken," the ministry said in a statement. The ATACMS missile fragments that fell on the Taganrog military airfield caused injuries among the personnel and no destruction on the ground, the ministry said. The West sought to take advantage of the conflict in Ukraine to weaken Russia, but its policy of sanctions has failed, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said during an official visit to Brazil. "The West decided to take advantage of this conflict in order to weaken Russia, and sanctions were imposed. Billions of euros and dollars are being spent on Ukraine, which is receiving a lot of humanitarian aid and an abundance of weapons. What’s the result?" Fico said in an interview with Brazil’s Folha de S.Paulo newspaper. "Russian [troops] are seizing more and more territory, while sanctions aren’t working, and Ukraine can no longer hold talks from a strong position," he added. Fico also expressed regret that other European Union countries were reluctant to take note of Bratislava’s stance about the need to launch negotiations. "The war in Ukraine is the issue that has turned me into the black sheep of the European family because my views are different from those of other EU nations," the Slovak premier noted. At a June 14 meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry’s leadership, President Vladimir Putin set out the country’s conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine. Among them are the withdrawal of the Ukrainian armed forces from Donbass and Novorossiya and Kiev abandoning plans to join NATO. In addition, Russia wants all Western sanctions lifted and demands that Ukraine commit to a non-aligned and nuclear-free status. The rights, freedoms, and interests of its Russian-speaking population need to be ensured, too. On December 4, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was open to talks on Ukraine, and in order to launch a peace process, it is enough for Vladimir Zelensky to revoke his decree banning communication with the Russian leadership and hand down instructions to resume dialogue based on the Istanbul agreements, which would take the realities on the ground into account.

This podcast is such imperial propaganda. Westerners drink so much kool aid. It’s over for Ukraine.
This will would have been a defeat for Russia if she were forced to remove her bases in Tartus and Latakia.
Those bases are not going anywhere, so there is no defeat for Russia.
These Russian bases will provide a counter weight to the continued american presence in East Syria.
It seems that the yankees will go home eventually, therefore what we have here is but an american defeat.
Excellent episode. Thanks
excellent interview
