It looks like this board supports dual Y steppers, a Z axis, and a probe. Not bad for $45
Not at all. It was a good value at $99 but now on sale - it’s even better !
26$ on aly =)
Awesome
Hi, can you explain where the white wires come from? You added them without explaining why you didn't add them during step 6. Thanks!
Sure - if I’m thinking of the same wires you are referring to, those are the wires from the limit switches on your machine. I didn’t connect them during that step because they aren’t very long and I would have had to set the control board down inside the machine and it wouldn’t have been easy to see what I was doing during the rest of the tutorial
R the White wires to the power supply jumpers?
How do you pulse the laser when doing the alignment procedure?
@@gibawatts in light burn, on the “console” tab there’s a button for “fire”
Can you please show us what grbl settings you have for the k40 laser
I will gladly share what ever Information you need …. Just tell me where to get the info. Lol
@@SJSSawdust I literally posted this request in 8 different videos and you were the only person who responded thank you again
@@8mmmauser896 no problem. After I upgraded the controller, my cutting area got reduced by an 1” in both directions. I sent an email to Monport but haven’t heard back yet. I’m sure I will have to dive into the settings
Hello did you get the grbl setting ? I cant get mine to go over 133mm/s
@@nubretneydj8707 nema 17s are only good to 120mm/s as any faster and they will miss steps
How would you install this to a K40 with the all greed plugs on the power supply?
Hello, Thank you for sharing. I just ordered the same board and cant wait to install. I have a question though. I see on light burn settings for air assist. Is there a way for me to run my air assist though the board ? currently has its own wall outlet running to a switch on the machine that I have installed. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for watching- I don’t want to say one way or another for sure, but I don’t think you can. Since the air assist isn’t “part” of the laser module itself, I don’t think there’s anyways to make that happen. I have mine on a separate switch as well
Thanks for sharing, will this work with omg each k40?
Thanks for watching. I’m not sure if it will, I would assume so- but since I don’t know, I recommend you contact the manufacturer
sorry, should have been omtech; thanks for your reply.
I just ordered my Monport board, and when I was prepping the machine for install I noticed my K40 has no limit switches? The only thing I see is a small infrared eye on the left side. Will this still work?
I'm sorry, but I do not know. I would suggest contacting Monport themselves.
You need to add a milliamp meter, you can not see how many milliamps you are adding to the tube, and will ruin your laser...
Thanks. I will definitely do that!
will this work with an old vevor k40? the original one without digital displays
I’m sorry, I’m not sure. You’ll have to contact the manufacturer to be sure
Found your video from the Monport site for the upgrade board and had a couple of questions so I thought I'd go directly to you! Any advice is greatly appreciated.
1. When upgrading from the nano board to the LB-compatible version i don't see any instruction from Monport on where to wire the Red Dot laser or the case lights. I'm assuming the LEDs are 24v and likely wired in-line with the main power, and the red dot is 5v and likely just fits in an open slot, but I'd like clarification if possible.
2. Once you complete the upgrade process, how do you control the % of power without the controls from the top of the machine? I understand it can be manipulated in LB, but I don't think just changing the value there is sufficient. Any rhoughts?
Hopefully I can help
1) the red dot laser that I use is independently powered and switched - so I’m not sure where to wire that in. As far as the case lights, I added a bunch more lights so I also wired those independently. I have everything plugged into a power strip and it all turns on with the power strip
2) once connected, everything you do is ran through Lightburn. That entire user interface on the k40 itself is null and void now. Lightburn is so easy to use and it’s amazing how cheap it is!
@@SJSSawdust Thanks for the fast response! I really appreciate your assistance. I've looked at adding a second power supply (12v5a) to address the issue so I may follow your suggestion and just wire those separately.
With regard to LightBurn, did you do anything specific to get the power to scale properly? I've tried a couple of different things and noticed a significant difference when using bi-directional, flood fill, and constant power, but I'm not sure which is the appropriate to use with CO2s?
@@IfUOnlyKnew that’s a great question. The only suggestion I have is the “standard” practice when using any material with any laser - is run a speed/power test. If you do that for every material you plan on using, you’ll get the results you were looking for because you have the settings dialed-in ahead of time!
after changed on monport, have lost SPEED of X and Y
alsow laser stuck on power... when comes to the corner of cutting, slow the speed and alsow burning material... need settings for lightburn!!!

Can you put a monport controller on an omtech machine?
I’m sorry, I do not know the answer to that. I would suggest emailing Monport and asking them
I just installed mine today... exactly as above. Lightburn won't detect it. Windows does, lasergrbl does but LB doesn't register it at all... it comes up reads monport then many ??? and says homing then just hangs... steppers don't move but are red hot. IDK what to do... just ordered an MKS DLC32 as a backup if I can't figure this out
I’m sorry, I wish I could help you. Is your setup the exact same as mine? And did you follow the video and install it just as I did? The only help I can offer is to go back through the video and make sure yours is the exact same as mine.
@@SJSSawdustonly difference is the PSU is the bigger one with green terminals
Aucune commercialisation a l'étranger… seulement au Us… je suis dégouté… mais merci pour ce partage.
Some people are saying this board isn't good because it's 8bit and raster performance can suffer. Is this true? Have you seen any performance issues while using this board? Any reason to go with the $150 lightburn boards instead?
I haven’t noticed any real problems but I also haven’t used it all that much in a raster application - most of my usage was to cut things out. Unfortunately I cannot give an informed opinion on either board due to lack of experience with a Lightburn board or raster function on this board
@@SJSSawdust Oh okay. I mainly plan to cut acrylic so I'll probably stick with the stock board for now. Thanks!
@@Dex2R7 I would do the same!
