Welcome to the universal religion of Islam. I am an older guy born in Karnataka, living in the USA from around 2000. My eating habits have been vegetarian from my teen age. I too survive on plant based food. As for eating meat or not it is relative in the sense plants too have life and feelings. As you explained very well, God has allowed a few animals for our survival. We have a choice as he gave us the intelligence and free will to decide within his rules. Best of luck. You chose the right path to live a purposeful life here and in the here after as well and attain peace.
