So glad you cleared up the amount in each set in different countries because I couldn’t understand where and why the heck the two I keep seeing were missing.
When McDonalds had wind-up toys in Happy Meals, like cars, walking animals, etc., it taught kids simple physics and hand-eye coordination. When they had magnifying glasses, it taught kids to observe, to investigate the world around them. When they had animal figurines, it taught kids basic zoology, recognition of animals. You could have conversations about the animals, about their habitats, "Where does the penguin live?" "How does the lion growl?" How exactly are kids supposed to play with....a miniature, plastic _Croc shoe_ ?! How in blazes is this a "toy"? More disturbingly, what are kids learning from it? They learn this: "Be a consumer. Purchase, purchase purchase. You don't have enough. Buy more. Get a collection! So grow up, live to work, so you could buy even more stuff." "But until then, hang this little Croc from your backpack, so the world could see you're a willing walking billboard for a shoe manufacturing corporation. You're a commodity...for a commodity." "Remember kiddo, no one cares about your brain, nor your personality. It's what you OWN, and how you DISPLAY what you own, that _really_ counts." 😉 This is called *programming.* Kids are not _playing_ with these things. They're being programmed by them. And it's sad to me parents are OK with dumbing down kids, and so eager to program them toward vapid materialism. Quite sad to see, really.
