My mother has had an Ileostomy for forty years now and has done great with it. She's 86 now and going strong. She even does her own ileostomy change. Her surgery was done on an emergency basis because she was bleeding out.

Praying for you and your son. I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 13. Remicade and the other drugs are great, but expensive. I pray you get accepted into the pay assistance program soon. There are several other similar drugs too, sometimes you need to switch. I fought for almost 30 years against the illeostomy. If it comes to that, it's not the end of the world. Life is normal, between the bag and Stelarra in fact it's the happiest time I can remember. Good luck to you Gage!

Listen, I just started following you and you don't know me, but I can tell you 100% I know what you were going thru with a child. My son at 8 in 2008 was hit with an emergency heart repair. As a parent I know that you would switch places with Gage in a micro sec. IM NOT A RELIGIOUS PERSON, but will honestly say the power of prayer from friends, family and people you never will meet works. My son Dominic is now 22 , works as an electrician and wants to join the military and is 100% health. I truthly believe in the years to come you and Gage will look back and say the same thing, and pass your experience on to somebody in the same position as your in now.
