Back in 1994 my DIs at MCRD San Diego taught us to start with our boots on the bottom. Everything else was tightly rolled and placed above the boots. I used my warbag as a carry on with my hygiene kit and traveled in my civvies along with my uniform bag. I would change into my Alphas at an airport restroom prior to reporting to MCT West and MOS school at old Fort McClellan Alabama. Oh yeah on my way to MOS school flying from LA to Atlanta the airline left my sea bag on the plane and it flew on to San Juan. I got it back the next day with nothing missing. Semper Fi
boots in the bottom, sleeping mat around everything and and last was wet poncho on top for extra protection... still have mine from Boot camp 1995 Ft. Sill
I’m gonna ask you again to please make a video about the coat hanger trick. That hanger trick makes no sense as far as folding it all together to make the metal frame. I currently just got a ten pack of them and they’re not doing anything right. They’re just standard metal frame, no plastic or anything fancy involved.
Wrong!!! The eyelet goes to the grommet on the opposite side first. That little flap on the inside is made and intended for keeping the sea bag dry inside. The other 2 grommets can be secured to the eyelet now and does not matter which is first. USN veteran 1987 to 1991
Just curious, is it metal hangers so they bend around each other? I sure plastic would just snap. I’m not in the military, but I love the sea bags and wanting to get one here soon so I’m getting one over Amazon. (And yes, it’s a genuine USGI bag, not a cheap Amazon knockoff).
I guarantee FTOs and CTAs at FT will get into that thing no problem. You have to twist the two opposing grommets as much as possible before threading them through the eyelet.
Thank you I sat here for an hour, trying to figure out the best way to lash and loop the top of the bag I was close to my cousins in the military to figure out how to do it😂
All good and helpful so thanks but I’m the last bit How about inserting the padlock in the last loop and lock it then clip on the shoulder strap as usual?
You'd be better off just closing the bag without a lock on it, and have no valuables in it, because TSA will keep your bag, believe me its happened to me!
Wasn’t paying attention when they showed him how to close it up either. If it rains his shits all gonna be wet. Start with the grommet with the loop, then the side with the lame ass buckle, being sure to fold the canvas flap over your stuff, third is the side with the backpack straps, then the final one opposite the straps. This way when you stack the bags on their sides, the backpack straps go down, and the flaps are such that rainwater will flow off not in.
That hanger trick is a good one.

My grandfather just gave me his duffle bag from his time in the army. This was really helpful! Thanks!
Another trick is too put you’re ISO mat around the inside, it helps keep the bad solid and protects you’re Gear.
I leave in a few hours and you have no IDEA how helpful this has been!!!!!Keep saving lives out here 😩😩
What branch?
@@TM-ju9nj USN i guess
@@HomeInIrvine 😂 i just chocked on my dip
I know I'm late but this is still practical and useful. Thank you.

Coast guard auxiliarist here, thank you for explaining how to pack this thing.
haha i bet you think bowling is a sport too
thanks for this tutorial, i got my grandpas old military bag and had no idea what to do with it
I didn’t learn a thing… I was mesmerized by the bicep vain
There’s a blank flap inside the bag behind one of the grommets. Wondering what it is for. Is it for patches and your personal info ?
Noone has answered your question yet, but, that flap is a water cover in case your bag is super stuffed
You are an obscure but wonderful guide. Thank you.
Hey man, do you still know where to get that knives belt buckle?
不過身邊的是一個越戰的Duffel Bag ,不過原理一樣,知道如何使用了,感謝!

Oooooh I thought it was a roll top.... Thanks.
Roll up some cardboard or an isomat so it doesn't look like ass or like you're carrying a dead body...
Nice channel. Just found it. Im a fan!
Hello, how do you clean it? Do you put it in a washer like regular cloths?
When it needs a washing I turn it inside out and wash it like any other clothes. This way all the buckles arent clanking around beating up my machine.
1973 We started with the boots!
now I learned something😊
How does the military keep track of who’s sea-bag is who’s?
The one my dad gave me has his name stenciled on it
Laundry tag lol
A friend of mine who was in the military recommended I get one of these for my first time flying, this was very helpful.
Awesome!

Damn, That hangar trick would've really come in handy if I knew about it back when I was in.

Oohrah! Takes me back. Good instructions. Seeing inside the barracks was a trip! Semper Fi.

Appreciate this video! I Will be ordering my sea bag & utilizing what you've already taught me 🤙🏾

Thanks! This helped so much back when I was still new to the program :)
why not used REAL CLOTHES for the demo ???
I have one of these GI duffle bag and I use pad locks to secure the top like this guy demonstrate.
What do you guys put in your sea bags? Is it like uniforms and toiletries?
Thank you so much! Your video story helped me a lot! I wish you good luck and prosperity.
Thanks man i appreciate your work keep it up bro ❤
Thanks for the bottom securing and locking techniques.
This was absolutely no help whatsoever
Real. I looked up how to fold dress whites into a sea bag for air travel. I got this😒
I did this and the TSA wasn't able to get in there and take away my non standard issued surplus BB guns.
Like the idea of the hangers to make that square look.I could use a cut of square plywood to do that also
Thanks for your informative vid bro
great video brother be safe out there
I was skeptical, but that hanger trick is genius. Also the latching tip.
You'd be better off just closing the bag without a lock on it, and have no valuables in it, because TSA will keep your bag, believe me its happened to me!
Or just put one of the TSA approved locks on it
wow us army life hack
you put a lock on the sea bag BUT what about TSA check bag ???
😂 make sure the lock you buy is tsa compatible😂
Thank you!
you should be a news anchor
Thanx, man!
First thing they teach you in Boot is to roll the sea bag down. Which obviously you missed that part.

Yep...dungerees on the bottom, boondockers on top
Hi hi again, how are you, dear?
