The Indestructible truck was never going to the scrapper and I am very confident that it never will. Toyota even started badging them with the word “invincible” some time after. Which I’m assuming was inspired by top gear.
It's funny - I was actually writing a script on the 2019 scrappage of the S11E01 police cars back in October and why so few people had spoken up about it for a short video that would have been out before Christmas, and then barely a week or two into writing it, this happened and it unsurprisingly got shelved. Literally on the train ride back from Birmingham, that dampened such a wonderful weekend at the NEC. Clarkson had it bang on the money - they might be just cars, but to us they gave us so many wonderful memories growing up. Building a replica just like it wouldn't have the same impact as maintaining or restoring the originals, and it's just callous and heartless from the BBC and Beaulieu to do this. Leave it to Porter to yet again say something incredibly ignorant and that the cars couldn't be sold or pawned off in any way due to various legalities, therefore they somehow deserved scrappage. If you've seen the absolute wrecks Tavarish or Mat Watson have brought back from the dead, a few rusted-up hulks from a TV show would be a walk in the park, and many would have offered their services for very little or even free on account of what these cars represented. I don't know what sort of dirt the BBC has on Mr. Sniff but it must be fairly big if he keeps insisting on towing the party line this many years after leaving them. At the end of the day, it's just sad reading someone whose work you idolised (and still idolise) say increasingly dumb things in his retirement as time goes on. Liability, legality, NO-ONE CARES. These are irreplaceable pieces of British TV history that meant and still mean a lot to millions of people, and it's soul-crushing that we've lost them because of a few rusty edges. Have we not learned the lesson of Aardman, who lost everything just as they released their crowning achievement? Why are we still doing this? If the National Motor Museum can keep a broken Austin that got smashed up 40 years ago, why the hell can't Beaulieu care about its pieces in the same manner? Still, at least my PFP lives to fight another day. That's something.
werent most of the cars in beaulieu replicas i remember reading something a while back saying the originals were scrapped in Southampton after their removal from the boneyard
I dunno why they give these over to people that actually care about these, I don't believe every word the BBC has to say especially how they treated the original trio or to Jeremy for one bit, this is just them getting rid of their evidence, so yeah
I don't totally believe the Toyota Hilux episode for one main reason. At one point they set the interior on fire and it was a huge blazing fire. If they had done that it would have melted all the wiring and it would have been done for. You can even see at 1:45 in this video the dash isn't burnt or melted at all. Clearly something fishy was going on.
Sad about the loss of some of these glorious machines, but, GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! THE INDESTRUCTIBLE LIVES ON!!!!!!! That being said though, I do hope that both of the Boys's Railway Cars have survived!
Good Riddance to bad Rubbish! "Last of the Summer Petrol" was never really a true Car Enthusiasts Program, it was just 3 old men messing about in Cars and really, was actually something of an Insult to those of us who take the Car Enthusiast Hobby Seriously!
At least the Indestructible Hilux once again survived destruction. That things gotta be Top Gears' most iconic car.

At least they saved the amphibious cars, the indestructible Toyota hilux and the P45 I wonder what other cars have been saved.
Someone has to fund the museum tbh
The museum has not shut down. It’s the top gear exhibition that’s shut down within the museum 😢
1:41 it was james who put the toyota on top of the tower block not clarkson.
Literally shows the shot of James directly after lol
If this upsets you, do not research what the BBC did to a bunch of classic Doctor Who episodes.
And nearly wiped all the Flying Circus tapes.
It was James who put the Hilux on top of the tower block.

A tragic loss for automotive history, its lucky some escaped destruction to live another day.
I mean, they weren’t gonna be around forever......

It is the same car, they set fire to the seats and carpets and quickly put it out after that shot
@@ByteGuy Agreed.
Surely people would have bought this stuff at auction??
Too decayed? It's only fit for a museum or possible parade.
Sad about the loss of some of these glorious machines, but, GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! THE INDESTRUCTIBLE LIVES ON!!!!!!! That being said though, I do hope that both of the Boys's Railway Cars have survived!
I did see some of these at bueli many years ago
There was Richard’s boat kombi James triumph
such a shame. i managed to save the top gear india mini.its now in my possesion and will be displayed at as many shows as possible this year
Why not auction them off. I'm sure there's people out there that might want something like that.
that hilux is like a nokia 3310...cannot be broken.
You could have asked Jay Leno, there's no car he can't seem to get restored.
he does nt own or maintain all the cars on his channel
Shame about the mini
BBC bosses being out of touch
Nothing new there then 😂
Just put the hilux on a plinth
They were scrap as soon as Top Gear got their hands on the cars, Clarkson trying to come across as an enthusiast is hilarious. 😂
Have watched any of the shows what a absolutely bulshit comment
Is this worthy news...??
yes?
"Fiat Panda Limo scrapped by BBC" it wouldve been perfect as a banger racing car :(

Scrap the lot and make some bean tins.
You want to join them? 😂
