    Really slick and informative video dude, Mark is a monster. Big props to your performance on the kit too man, you're a really good drummer aside from a great educator!

    Yo you really hit the nail on the head with this one. I actually took a private lesson with Mark a few years back and he actually told me that he practiced the same exact 16th note permutation to develop his foot. Great work as always!

    i like playing the exercise you made for this and also doing it in a "4-2-1" pattern. it really challenges my rhythmic integrity to put those variations back to back! great stuff

    Could you do a video about how is your transcription process and some tips to doing It? It would be very helpfull

  • @alexrjaeger
    @alexrjaeger 8 лет назад

    I could be totally off on this and I'm not sure that it matters because subdivisions can be relative but when I listen to him play it I'm hearing it as an uptempo swing. It would be interesting to see how Guiliana is thinking about the phrasing of the comping patterns he is playing. When you swing that fast the 8ths even out and I'm really only hearing the HH on 2+4. So the technique doesn't change at all but they way you are phrasing it does. Any thoughts? Oh and nice work on the video man I watch them all and steal little bits from each of them, keep it up!

    hey, i think you got the groove upside down. It sounds like a a fast swing groove, where the hi-hats on beats 2 and 4, and in your transcription the off beats. eventhough it should be quaters and eights, instead of a sixteen note groove since its a jazz groove.
    If you move everything so the last two cymbals crashs are on 1, and 2and, that could be an aim to get the feel right.
    all the best.

    i have a question: how do you brake down these drum solo's? do you slow the speed or something? if so, what program do you use to do it? im asking because i want yo figure out more from mark guiliana's solo by myself.
    thanks, you're awsome

      אני די בטוח שיש לו סרטון שהוא מסביר בוא איך הוא עושה את זה, אבל בכל מיקרה רואים אותו מאט את הסולו המקורי בהרבה סרטונים בשביל להבין מה קורה.

    • @abbdrums
      @abbdrums  6 лет назад

      I hadn't seen him talk about that anywhere when I made this video. I just thought it seemed like a good exercise to complement the patterns he was playing. Someone else had commented about that as well but I still have never seen him demonstrate that anywhere 🤷🏻‍♂️
