I love the level of perfection that you achieve with your designs. Jean-Paul, you are one of the most talented paper engineers I know. Thanks a lot for sharing your inventions and improvements.
...thank you so much!!! The transparent cube was extremeIy heIpfuI...being very visual, l need to be abIe to see it in my head before trying to design a pop-up, and the transparent cube accomplished it. l was trying to figure out how the goId and bIack cube was without foId-Iines, but then saw how you took care of that probIem. So excited now, l am going to puII out my paper, tape, ruIer, and x-acto knife!!! :)
Brilliant design! I love being able to get a glimpse of the struts, center support, and V-fold inside, but would love a tutorial on this if ever you make one. Thanks for all the clever designs and videos you share!
That's amazing, Paul. I loved the transparent model - it does help a lot. I do hope, eventually, that you will do a tutorial on this mechanism because even though I can see what you did - I don't understand it. It also looks like your prototypes have multiple layers of paper on them so that I can't see the tabs or how they're placed or where they're glued down. Unless it's just me - and not being able to see the white on white on white. I love the adjustments you made so that the tree house is fairly straight - the folded one was amazing anyway, but I think with the straight walls - the new one will be fantastic to see once you put all the bells and whistles on. Well, again - I hope you make a tutorial because I'm not great at guessing and I know pop-ups can be more intricate than they seem. I wonder if you have ever seen a spinning sphere in a popup. I saw one in a quick vid on youtube AGES ago and have been searching all over the internet for a tutorial on how they're made. I'd love to try making one - even asked Duncan Birmingham and Matthew Reinhart if they knew how to make it or if they had any video tutorials on making one.
