Angela Davis was a professor at San Francisco State in her day. I was in one of her classes auditing it for a few weeks. She is one powerful woman! Glad to see her doing so well!

I love seeing two intelligent women, connecting feminism to the BLM struggle through the stratagem of abolitionism. What a very interesting connection and as a historian, I am learning something about the importance of remembering that the struggle of abolitionism is still in play! The struggles of women's sufferage is also still in play. More importantly, the struggles of the downtrodden in the USA is still in play. All of these struggles are interconnected! To me defund the police means that we do not want untrained, militaristic and biased, men or women commuting into our neighborhoods, treating our communities and people as though they are at war with us. We do not want cops that think that there is a particular enemy that they have to come in and find and eliminate. We want community policing. We want opportunity and money to flow towards finding the helping individuals in our communities and sending them to school or hiring them to take care of people and health and healing in our communities. More people who are called to do social work of all kinds to help address concerns, problems, issues, jobs. Yes! More of that and less of the kind of police work we have suffered with for too many years.

Two police officers were brutally shot in the head in Tulsa a few days ago; one has since died and the other is barely clinging to life with half of his brain. I checked local news channels on YT and was surprised at how many people support the gunman. Relations between the police and the communities they police are really at an all time low.
